I am trying to understand the dark factor, and the greywing effect. Could you please do a video on this? The depth that you explain things is really excellent.
One of the Great video .. I had come across, I was looking for this simplified explanation and finally got it once landed up here ... keep it up. Nicely explained.
So I guess that one of my budgies' color is for another time! I have one that is normal green, but another that is mostly normal green and yellow, but has white flight feathers, white under his tail covert, teal and blue under his belly! He is truly a gorgeous rainbow bird!
You are fascinating dear sir! You give education like a mysterious story that must be heard! Smart people know that genetics 🧬 are basically everything to the outcome of living creatures. It is the most fascinating science. I believe every child should begin basic learning of genetics in 5th grade at age 10....
i love this video and before i saw it i didn't really care about budgies, now i'm obsessed! i have 3 cats tho who would treat the birds as live toys. subscribed!!
Okay, I just left a comment on how simple nature was comparing it to the artist color wheel, but I hadn't quite finished watching the entire video..okay then, I must give you tremendous Kudos for your research, because it really explains thoroughly everything about the genetics color theory in the DNA of budgies..great job..I have to watch it again and again. 🥰
Ohhhh. My god because of this vid. I remember may science class . I remember the topic on : how to identify the possible birds and other animals color Using that graph.
Awesome! 👏 thank you so much! I plan on breeding at an enthusiast level soon enough and im finding your videos perfect for filling in the knowledge gaps!
It looks like it was on the first clutch of eggs. It's a 1 in 4 chance, so if they have four or more eggs you're very likely to get at least one blue one.
Congrants for your video!!!!My regards from Greece. Can you tell me please what happened with a lutinofemale and a white male(not alpino)?Thank you. I' m looking forward for your answer.
are you asking about what offspring they would have?, it's hard to tell , the lutino might have a lot of hidden genes that you could only see in her children
My parents had a big Avery with 50 or so budgies for over a decade. You should see some of the crazy colours that have come out of there. I just recently got a baby bird from there grey and yellow with a beautiful pink crest and red eyes. Very unique and just my luck he is the tamest bird I have ever had the joy of having. ❤
I love this documentary. It amazes me! The color theory genetics are so juxtaposed to the artist color wheel..I know because I am an artist. So simple of course, yellow and blue make green..and in nature this with birds is possible. This video is so educational. Thank you so much for your research and bringing this to us. I enjoy all your videos on budgies. Please continue your work and bring more. .I will continue to watch and share.🥰
please budgie world continue this documentary it is so useful in order to breed our budgies go further and explain the genetics in regards to color mutation and patterns i would love to be able to create rainbows budies and also understand the sex linked mutations and understand exacxtly what is a pied budgie a double pied a clear wing and so on thank you for your explanations and dedicated efforts
I'm glad you find my documentary enjoyable and helpful. I have a lot of videos and questions I need to answer. hopefully we will cover everything in time. Thank you for your support
Very informative video 💖 I love it ☺ one of the best video I would say 👌 which mutation 💙💛💚 budgie will be live longer or does it matters/effects on lifespan ??
I know this was 4 years ago but curious if you can help me! I have a yellow pied male & a Cobalt blue female that has laid their first clutch. Do you know what colors the babies could be? Thank you for the amazing video! You are amazing! 🎉
Hello. Budgies and canaries are 2 of my favorite birds. Great video! Question: If you breed a male american goldfinch with a female yellow canary, what will their offspring look like?
@@nidohime6233 Actually the cross was done before. It was between the American Goldfinch and green canary. There's a picture on the internet. One female turned to be a dull green color. The Red Siskin cock from Venezuela was crossed with a yellow canary hen and they produced the Red Factor canary. So, I know finches, canaries, siskins and serins are in the same family, Fringillidae. They don't necessarily have to be in the same genus to hybridize. Some offspring will be fertile, some will be infertile.
you are so funny, I love watching your videos! Keep up the great work. I just set up 2 breeding budgies that are new to me. I am breeding a cinnamon and a Ino. I watched your video on lace wing and I hope I get at least one on my first time. Funny I didn't even realize that I had a cinnamon budgie. Wish me luck.
I liked the premise of this video, but found it over-simplified and somewhat lacking. i.e: Most of it is basically straightforward Mendelian Genetics (tall pea and dwarf pea). Additionally, because I was unaware of the 'Psittacine' gene, I would have appreciated a more sophisticated genotype parent pictogram to show it's interactions in tandem with the separate Melanin gene. i.e: Instead, your representations are just showing different alleles of a single gene only and not in combination with a second separate gene. Finally, I would have liked to see a demonstration of the phenotypical expression of the Violet Single and Double Factor gene in both the blue and green type budgerigars. I believe that would have been quite pretty.
I watched this to see how the genetics of my baby worked. Unfortunately it was not explained that I noticed. Can you please explain how he has yellow, white, green and blue please.
Genetics was my absolute favorite in my highschool biology and this took me way back lol
i really felt that when he said holy mother jesus!

Nicely taught 👍👍but can anyone explain how white budgies obtained??
Nice informations !!!!
How many times did you have to breed your two green budgies to get the blue budgie??

Hello. Budgies and canaries are 2 of my favorite birds. Great video! Question: If you breed a male american goldfinch with a female yellow canary, what will their offspring look like?
Are there compatible in the first place? By rule of thumb species from the same taxonomic genus can hybridise with each other.
