    First time I've spoken on-channel in a while, reply to let me know how fucked the audio mixing is.

    While I'm sad you aren't gonna do X2, I respect the hell out of your decision. Even though I like playing xcom 2 more, especially with the insane amount of mods it has, and enjoyed Chimera Squad for a small spinoff, EU is a truly special game, it just hits different. Your I/I series was clearly a labor of love lmao. Needless to say I'll be watching whatever you put out, good luck going forward my man

    Look ma, I'm on TV!
    For real, the fact you highlighted my little story bit in this video means the world to me. I'm so glad you liked it! Also funnily enough, I started doing XCOM writing because of Beagle's Live and Impossible on RUclips. The comparison to Frag's Finest is such a throwback for me, the fact you compared my little story to the stuff people made for that series is such a high compliment to me, I honestly can't express it!
    I really liked this video, as someone who only watched Unpossible it's weird hearing your voice, but I like it. You defintely have the voice for retrospectives if thats what you choose! As an aside, I'm really annoyed I didn't think to ask you who your favourite soldier by the end was! Personally mine was tied. Seema 'Gunner' Das because she was literally unkillable, she went into bleedout like 3/4 times and always came back, and being one of the only high tier Assaults of the campaign demands respect. The other candidate was Gabriel 'Smoky' Vega, and this is mainly because of my writer's brain. In universe, I can't imagine it was easy coming in as a high rank (iirc he was the only free Major we got because of Kingpin) when everyone around you is dying all the time, and then becoming the highest rank because your predecessor gets obliterated. Not to mention the absolute chad tanked a Sectopod's death explosion (sure Karen did too, but she went into bleedout rather than still standing after), well deserved to be on the Temple Ship.
    Oh and another one (yes i'm aware of the irony that I thought of all the questions after the QnA, but I might as well ask now), what reasoning did you have for making Inez the Volunteer rather than Karen? I only ask because snipers with archangel are absolutely terrifying, so I'm suprised you'd then force Inez into the Psi Armour.
    Also I said it in my story and I'll say it again, the finale was an absolute masterclass. I've rewatched the memorial scene (as well as the MVP scene) at least 4 times, and seeing this made me go and rewatch it again. Thank you for bringing us this content, and I look forward to following you wherever you go next

      The fact that you even wrote a little story bit at all was a shock to me, and it's really opened my eyes to how something as seemingly banal as a videogame playthrough can carry artistic weight. Like I said in the Q&A itself, I was going to make an hour of ha ha funny and it turned out to be so much more. Also I haven't used my voice on-channel since 2016 outside of a single shitpost, my voice has probably dropped a whole octave since then.
      My favourite soldier would have to be Inez, her getting ten kills on her first mission was insane for a rookie and there were plenty of incredible moments from her after that. Plenty to choose from between some of her covert op clutches, the Sectopod hunt on the supply barge, and being the oldest soldier after Sokolov's death. Maura and Sokolov are a close second/third just because of how clutch they were during months 1-3 and 4-6 respectively, and Toby Davis, the Redshirt Assault who I literally used as canon fodder to get captures, ending up as a Major on the EXALT Base Raid endeared me to him a lot.
      And given that the temple ship is barely a challenge outside of the two Sectopods and the Muton Elites, I picked the volunteer for sentimental reasons more than actual combat effectiveness. In my opinion, Enemy Unknown has two different stories, the game's plot and the story of your soldiers. The Volunteer is where both of these stories intersect to make an ending greater than the sum of their parts, Inez being the one to end it just felt appropriate.

    Chimera Squad is a great spin-off game, the only thing it really made me think about is "Man I really enjoy Overwatch that you can point in a cone."

    I know I'm extremely late to the party, but I was wondering if anyone knew if Kierany9 had opinions on someone picking up the mantle of Xcom Unpossible, as I think it may be a fun little challenge for myself to go with Xcom 2 since it's a game I hold near and dear to my heart, and I would like to pay homage to this series in some way, as it helped me rediscover a passion for the xcom series back when it was released.

    so you are saying that you don't have like 300/400 hours in xcom? I have around 300 in Xcom1 and 300 in Xcom2, but i can only beat both in hard difficulty ironman, in impossible/legend i can't quite get past the first 2 months every time i try without losing too many soldiers/missions and to fail because of time (leaving countries/avatar project)

    • @kierany9
      @kierany9  2 года назад

      Nah, pre-Unpossible I had 150 hours in both, now it's like 300 in X1. I don't know about legend, but beating I/I was 100+ hours of raw grind until I could beat the first two months _once_.
