I can't get one.. Had one ordered. Pre ordered over a month ago and was supposed to have it by today. Received an email saying it was delayed until mid July. The official OEM version anyway.
Behing honest what I got to know in this video was only covers for the s5.
I wanted to know the wireless charge bases, which ones are recommend, charging speeds etc.
Just felt like a incomplete video lacking information.
Why do the Samsung ones have 5 prong connections as to the 2 prong connections of the 3rd parties???
I got the s view wireless and charging pad from Mobile fun it works well and it saves me having to pull out the usb cover, which doesn't look that robust. They are both official Samsung products. As for charging time I can't be that specific but appears to be the same time as usb direct charging, not that I've noticed any difference. The only negative is the extra weight and bulk added to a slender light phone, but I can live with that.

Samsung should have implemented this feature in the S5 in the first place, especially because of that horrible flap on the MicroUSB slot...

Personally I love the flap on the Microusb and I am dissappointed the S5 up dont have it. I am able to use the phone underwater because of it and its great that I do not have to worry that it will get water damaged.

any idea if the Tylt receiver goes under the case while still allowing for the rubber contacts to keep the compartment waterproof?
Thank you Kevin, this is a fine example of what new tech intros are supposed to be like: short, clear, good audio and touch on the major points that consumers care about. You saved me 1-2 hours of research and even more time than that by identifying best in class implementations.
One thing: the background music can go down in volume by 30%. It does add a more professional measure to the video but it needs to be subliminal and I found it a tad distracting. Thanks again for this vid.

Great review but one of things i was hoping to hear about was if adding any of these cases affects the water resistance of the phone itself, a very important factor for most users.

I purchased an inductive pad for my gs3 and since the pads have not changed in technology, it should be cautioned that using it with the standard battery cover, there is a very likely chance that the cover will eventually crack where it is being stressed by the pad.
Just to be sure, when the phone has the pad installed will it interfere with conventional charging?

does it interfere with the water proof rubber on the back of stock S5 cover?
Buy the magnetic clip for the s view case, makes it perfect.

Hi Android Authority does the slim tylt VU-Mate interfere with the NFC function of the phone, this would be big bonus over other wireless charging pads xxx

I've purchased the wireless charging back cover, although it won't fit the standard cases since it's added 1-2 cm to the back cover. Is there a case that will work in conjunction with the wireless cover that will also protect the phone?

I have heard that the vu-mate makes the most reliable inductive charging insert but $25 seems high considering you can buy the entire back cover with wireless charging from Samsung for $29 and not compromise the waterproofing feature.
Does the tylt adapter allow the S5 battery cover to retain its water resistance? Or does it create a gap between the cover gasket and the phone?

I have a n5 and it's great I have a pad at home and at my work place. It same that dawn flimsy usb connector... That was broken on my previous phone
What type of wireless charging pad do you need to use for the s5? Can it be the Samsung one?
I have used an external pad for my Galaxy S3, and it ended up cracking the battery cover (even though the pad is not very thick) Do the external pad for the S5, has this same problem. I don't want to use one of those, because it may increase the risk of water entering on the battery port.

I've always wonder why so few phones come with wireless charging. If popular phones like the Galaxy and HTC Ones supported it out of the box, i think wireless charging would be more commonplace by now. Instead, we mostly see this feature in the less popular Nokia Lumias, the Nexus series, and the Verizon exclusive versions of the G2. I'm hoping LG G3 will catch on and sell really well in order to get more people to adopt wireless charging. I was also hoping that the Iphone6 will support it as well. But then again knowing Apple, it will probably be some kind of proprietary charger technology.

Wireless charging tends to be slower than wired. But it is very convenient to just set your phone down on the desk, and have it charge. Hope this helped!

Yeah of course. Because if you use charger, the output current is 2000mAh. If you use wireless charger, the current is only 760mAh. Do you see the current rate on the receiver wireless charger?
