Although the Blackwing cars may not appeal to everyone, stylistically, I think very few people, and especially car people, would find them ugly. 🤔
You’re spot on regarding the “nice stuff” comments around the 12:30 mark. If I’m spending that much on a car I want the interior and drive experience to be immaculate. If you want a bare bones sports car, you aren’t the target audience here.
Even if they aren't any more reliable at least the GM stuff will be a hell of alot cheaper to fix and buy parts for than the BMW's, Mercedes, and Audi's of the world.

The ct5 v black wing does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, the ct4 does it in 3.8. This is definitely the better deal if you can get over not having a supercharged v8.
I have read several reviews from guys that have racing experience and they said the handling, steering and ride quality is better than the M3/comp and M4. Doug is a little lacking in that respect.
Well well well, I was correct when I said I am noticing the automakers trend in pumping out their "last manual transmission" sports car. I mentioned that each new car is the last manual sport sedan, and so far they're following suite
I rented one of these. The ride quality of this in comfort/touring is just phenomenal. Rides way better than the BMW M340i I drove. Other than the infotainment screen I think the interior is just as nice as the BMW M340i. As a daily driver that rides smooth around town that is still fun in the canyons I’d take this over the M3 or M340i. Modern sporty BMW’s just ride too stiff IMO.

Amazingly honest review that is clear, concise and understandable. This vehicle is quite underrated and still represents very good value . Unfortunately, it still possesses a few GM parts bin items lowering its overall representation of a luxury brand.
I just picked one of these up. Spent the last two weeks trying to decide between a M3 and this vehicle. If you lease, the M3 is cheaper. It has 6 points higher residual and half the MF which completely negates any price difference between the two cars. I had to have a manual though. After deciding to lease I then spent nearly a week trying to buy a M3. But unfortunately they were either sold, customers orders being listed online, competition models which means auto or they were at dealerships that won't sell to out of state customers(Cali). So when I saw a manual CT4-BW on Autotrader with options I was OK with and no dealer markup I said lets do it. I've already had 2 BMW, currently have a X3M so why not try something different. So finance and BW it is.

Agreed. I'm disappointed in his assessment of the comparison vs the M3. Yes the M3 has a flashy interior. However Exterior looks presence /Sound & Performance goes to the Caddy. Having seen one of these in person I can attest. It bad Ass! And I would buy one. If available! And his Doug Score makes no sense. Same score for styling as M3? The M3 is so fugly. Lower Score on Value? The Caddie is a less expensive car and is faster and performs better!!! How is the M3 have a higher Fun Factor Score? None of these make sense
M3 performance for $10,000 less? I hope this sells well, it's a bargain compared to the more expensive, less attractive M3. Plus, manual transmission is standard. The question is, how would this compare to the M2, which is probably similarly priced?
@@Defy_Convention BMW and Porsche make the best drivers cars imo. Any M3 any 911 are an example of what a real drivers cars are and what other cars want to be.
I’m over the moon with my g80 m3 manual. It’s just a total event every time you look at it or get in it. Especially with the carbon seats. Sub 100k the m3 is in another league from anything else. Plus, most beautiful bmw ever
The ATS-V & CTS V-Sport which share this engine platform look so much better & both are tunable compared to the Global-B locked CT4-Blackwing- so adding 200hp is a tune away in the previous models.
The softer seat backs in the CT4 probably help with sound absorption & rear seat knee comfort, to counter the fact there is less space than in the CTV.
The Cadillac folks at Laguna Seca during the WeatherTech Sportscar Weekend were giving test drives of all the different variations of the Blackwing. This was the only car I cared about. I don't need 670 HP. I loved the way it drives and I thought the materials were not bad at all. Leg room also isn't bad considereing I'm only 5'7" so where I had the driver's seat there was plenty of room in back. The only weird thing about it is that I found that I needed to move the seat forward to get out instead of back because the B-pillar is a little too far forward for me. But once I moved the seat forward enough, I had no problem getting out. I would get one.
I completely agree. It's narrowminded of people to say they just want the car for the engine. I definitely want a car that is luxurious and fast when I'm shopping in the $80k+ range. For people who have millions of dollars to spend, sure they may not care as much since they can afford a carbon fiber tub with nothing else in it and no luxury BECAUSE they have the extra money to spend on a $200k Maybach for luxury already. For those of us that only has enough for a $100k car or so, we want performance, luxury, tech, everything because we can't afford 5 different cars for different purposes lol.

Although the Blackwing cars may not appeal to everyone, stylistically, I think very few people, and especially car people, would find them ugly. 🤔
I think it’s actually kind of cool that it matches the the brake caliper with the key it’s something different
You’re spot on regarding the “nice stuff” comments around the 12:30 mark. If I’m spending that much on a car I want the interior and drive experience to be immaculate. If you want a bare bones sports car, you aren’t the target audience here.
You accidentally released the Mercedes 300SL review but with the title including the edit v2. It is already deleted like 0.25 seconds later.
Damn. I wish I saw that.
Great review. I really hope at some point you review the ATS-V. It's such an unknown car that deserves recognition
I love how Cadillac makes performance cars and luxury cars, awesome stuff!
If you aren't a stork with freakishly long legs you can ignore everything Doug said about the back seats in this car.
I also 6'3'' but I have short legs or a long torso so headroom always sucks.
Doug. Stop teasing us. We want the GR Yaris review!
General Motors is impressing me these days. This is cool
I like how one-fifth of the video is Doug introductions. Classic Doug
I love the M3 too, but I would buy this one just because I trust GM to be a little bit more reliable than the German rivals.
I'd take GMs powertrain reliability over the Germans any day. The rest of the cars I'm not sure are any better or worse than the Germans.
Even if they aren't any more reliable at least the GM stuff will be a hell of alot cheaper to fix and buy parts for than the BMW's, Mercedes, and Audi's of the world.
Several ATS-V putting out 600whp with tapout tuning stock engine and transmission zero problems. The ats-v has the same LF4 3.6 v6 as this CT4-V very reliable platform don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
@@saltyfloridaman7163 yeah I think that’s changing the turbos on the ats-v. I know you have to stud the heads at about 630hp and you might as well swap the turbos and go for 750 at that point.
@@saltyfloridaman7163 well I hope it’s at least studded. My brother is doing 602 at the rear wheel bone stock engine 24 lbs of boost. It’s held it’s fine so far really tough cars.
A Cadillac being one of the last sport sedan with a manual gearbox... what a time to be alive!
I have an atsv, it's great. Fwiw all the owners in my local v club that got allocations for the new blackwings went with the ct4 over the ct5 bc they track their cars and the smaller car is better for that.
The 4 is definitely smaller and FEELS more agile but on the track the 5 is faster.
Tapout tuned? Your ats-v or is it stock
@R Robert they are getting rather affordable right now. Some as low as 30k
Doug's analysis is on point. Few looking to buy an M3 would be interested in this Cadillac.
He's probably right. That's a shame though. I'd definitely consider this if I were in the market.
This is a brilliant car with fantastic bang-for-the-buck in both performance and design. It looks great inside and out as well and with all of the carbon aero bits, it has great aggressiveness. The burnt orange and blue callipers if this particular example is awesome as well!
but it ain`t m3
@@kole081, you’re right, it’s better looking! 😂 The M3 has a face only its mother (designer) could love.
@@BinaryReplicant bruh just wait for the sales.

I read this in Doug's voice
That paint color is bomb
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE WAY DOUG SAYS BLACKWING
I came for the gullwing edit v2
It’s a good day when Doug Posts on Sunday.
‘I’m going to compare it to the BMW M3’
BMW never gets mentioned for the rest of time, only the CT4/5 comparison
😂 which isn't even in the same price range, so who cares? Like if it makes sense that the CT4 gives you less luxury at ~$70k than a CTV at ~$130k. I mean, it would make no sense to give the cheaper car as much cool stuff as the more expensive one. Why even bother comparing it to a car that consumers won't be looking at as an alternative?
Never been a fan of any older Cadillac but this looks stunning from all angles.
That's what I tell myself when I look at my naked body in the mirror.
...good news...this is not an older Cadillac...
Not a fan of ANY older Cadillac? There are some extremely gorgeous classic Cadillacs going waaay back. You should revisit the classic Caddy lineup
Where's the SL gullwing :(
Another big plus for this car is that we can proudly say it is an American premium sports sedan.
Long time GM product buyer, plus, BMW, Merc, and Porsche. All great cars. Would take the Caddy any day tho over the newest competition from Europe. Line em up bud! For the $ The Blackwing kicks them all back across the pond… just my opinion.
Doug Demuro, the type of guy to critique precise handling of a car but never does on track reviews.
The ct5 v black wing does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, the ct4 does it in 3.8. This is definitely the better deal if you can get over not having a supercharged v8.
the thing is at that point the limiting factor in 0-60 is traction not power. from a roll the ct5 would whoop the ct4 as expected.
@@christosgeorgaklis very true. Around the track I feel like the ct4 would still be able to hold its own.
I love how these Cadillacs don't look grotesque from the front!
The BMWs pig nostrils would make me absolutely get this instead....
Future classic. One of the best GM cars ever. I'm a BMW guy but this is sexy and quick enough to daily.
Looks like that's where the designs for theoretical Holdens ended up.
Maybe. I have a 2017 Chevy SS with manual transmission and am thinking of replacing it with this Blackwing. Not many cars like this to choose from.
Beautiful car indeed! Love that they still offer a manual transmission!👌😎👍
YES!, a manual, old school 6-soeed, with a strange medallion on top 😂😂👏👏
This should be on a shirt.
I love the CTS-V platform. Just sooooo, lovable 😂
Modern sporty BMW’s just ride too stiff IMO.
i dont really like USA cars. but man im in love with this. manual gearbox, lot of power,FR and 4 doors, pretty much all every car guy want
This is way better looking than the M3, and I am a BMW guy
The next three series has a normal sized grill thank God lol
So you're a BMW Guy, Yet you love the Cadillac... OK, Then! :/
@@joshgalka9414 I drive and own a F82 M4, love my car, the new M3/M4 look fkn ugly as sin, I bought my car out when I saw them in person, this Cadillac is a beautiful car compared, if I had to choose between the new M and this, I'd go with then caddie
I like good performance cars regardless of badge (assuming at least average quality of course) Still a M3 but the CT5-V Blackwing is definitely better for my needs. (M3 was fun but after nightmare post warranty experience, I baby it and won't ever push it hard again.)
Amazingly honest review that is clear, concise and understandable. This vehicle is quite underrated and still represents very good value . Unfortunately, it still possesses a few GM parts bin items lowering its overall representation of a luxury brand.
These ct4v and ct5v are great cars, 👍 id love to have one
Good to see u still making videos doug
How do you like it?

Seriously amazed! Cadillac has finally got something nice and exciting in their lineup
I agree I'm not sure but it shares an engine with the c7 Corvette I think the ZR1 I'm not so sure though but yeah it's a really nice car especially cause you can get it manual
@@stevegoon8520 that's the CT5. It's a detuned LT5 from the C7 ZR1.
I don't think that Doug has the ability to properly evaluate the sporting characteristics of a car. Here his evaluation is at odds with all other reviews I have read and viewed. And look at the roads he uses to make his evaluation - local streets and interstate. Really?
None of these make sense
all is okay in the world when double D uploads
M3 performance for $10,000 less? I hope this sells well, it's a bargain compared to the more expensive, less attractive M3. Plus, manual transmission is standard. The question is, how would this compare to the M2, which is probably similarly priced?
For 10k you get a lot more in the M3, interior is miles better than this, but the design of the new M3 might just turn people away.
I've seen many reviews that claim the M2 Competition is the perfect drivers car.
@@Defy_Convention
BMW and Porsche make the best drivers cars imo. Any M3 any 911 are an example of what a real drivers cars are and what other cars want to be.
@@Defy_Convention Yes if you probably don't need a 4 door sedan like the M3.
@@Defy_Convention And if you have the money, always go for Porsche, the best.
Didn’t he already do this, I remember the colors being the same, maybe it was a fever dream but I remember this a while ago
Ha I guess we know what the next review will be. Daddy Doug must have mis-clicked something while editing the 300sl Gullwing video
I am one year late! But I still get one Doug.
This over the M3 anyday, anytime. It's a Cadillac!
the king is back
When pushing "Cars and Bids" why does Doug never refer to the car he is shown standing by?
Because that is a preview of a future car he is going to review, not necessarily one being sold on cars and bids.
i use sponsorblock so i have no idea 😂
The softer seat backs in the CT4 probably help with sound absorption & rear seat knee comfort, to counter the fact there is less space than in the CTV.
Nice looking car from the front and the sides.
I’m not sure how I feel about the rear end styling. It looks very odd.
It's a little too Chevy Volt back there.
It reminds me of big flat elephant ears
Can't wait for the GR Yaris review !!

@@automation7295 I'm not american
Please tell me you'll have the Ford Maverick video up soon!!! Can't wait to see your review! Cheers Doug!
I'm already looking foward for the GR Yaris review!
