Probably doesn't help that it's fire engine red, but still. This car and the ATS-V represent an American alternative to the German counterparts, and that in itself is considered very cool by many. This and the ATS-V also often get overshadowed by their bigger, V8 powered brothers, as you mentioned. This adds a factor of, "oh yeah, I forgot about those cars, but they're pretty sweet!"

This car is special. It's not what everyone else has. It looks good, it's powerful, and it handles. The engine is going to be fine, as they used a forged crank, rods, Titanium valves, and a heavy duty clutch. A lot of the tech that went into these engines, has found its way into the 2.7L 4 cyl used in the Silverado/Sierra, and the upcoming 2023 Colorado and Canyon.
These are one of those limited production cars that when I see one, it catches my attention way more than the legions of leased 3-Series or AMG Benz out on the street.

I drove the CT4 Blackwing and the M3 competition back to back before making my decision. I have to disagree on a few things. The CT4 felt like a much more composed, and better feeling chassis. The steering feel was better. The chassis dynamic feels better. The traction management systems are better. The manual trans feels WAY better. The BMW manual was atrocious. The Blackwing, let's face it, looks WAY better. The Blackwing felt like an overall more fun to drive car. It reminds me of what M3s are supposed to be. The M3 felt big, bloated, and not nearly as fun. I'll agree the interior may not quite be as nice but with some of the materials but, I prefer the simplicity in the Blackwing. So, that's what I bought. Plus, in order.to get a similarly equiped M3 competition, with the aero and upgraded seats I wanted, I was at like 92k where the Blackwing with every option I wanted cost me 75995. The M3 is a good car, I think the Blackwing is more of an enthusiast car. That's just how I felt. And, I currently have an E46 M3 sitting in my garage. So, not necessarily a bias thing either

And I felt like the Cadillac was more fun to drive and communicated better. It's doesn't have the interior flare but, that's a small sacrifice for 20k. I just picked one of these up. Spent the last two weeks trying to decide between a M3 and this vehicle. If you lease, the M3 is cheaper. It has 6 points higher residual and half the MF which completely negates any price difference between the two cars. I had to have a manual though. After deciding to lease I then spent nearly a week trying to buy a M3. But unfortunately they were either sold, customers orders being listed online, competition models which means auto or they were at dealerships that won't sell to out of state customers(Cali).
So when I saw a manual CT4-BW on Autotrader with options I was OK with and no dealer markup I said lets do it. I've already had 2 BMW, currently have a X3M so why not try something different. So finance and BW it is.

I completely agree. It's narrowminded of people to say they just want the car for the engine. I definitely want a car that is luxurious and fast when I'm shopping in the $80k+ range. For people who have millions of dollars to spend, sure they may not care as much since they can afford a carbon fiber tub with nothing else in it and no luxury BECAUSE they have the extra money to spend on a $200k Maybach for luxury already. For those of us that only has enough for a $100k car or so, we want performance, luxury, tech, everything because we can't afford 5 different cars for different purposes lol.
