I did find a bug with one of the 2x3 or 3x2 mess halls. Forget which but there was a floating object. I noticed it from a window but even without the window it didn’t match the contents of the shelf either. It was like a floating bed in a Star citizen hanger.

Having actually worked in a shipboard armory in the Navy, the Stroud is actually the most true to form. An actual armory isn't going to have display stands sitting around to show off the gear. In fact the Stroud could only be made more realistic by turning the weapon racks into lockable weapon cabinets, course then you'd think it was really boring. And from an armorers perspective the large open area in the middle with the small but somewhat decent amount of desk space, especially compared to the others, is nice since I'm well aware of how difficult is is to maneuver around some of the larger caliber weapons in a cramped space, and having the space to disassemble, inspect, clean etc. is always welcome, could actually make that desk there a bit larger realistically, more flat space to lay a weapon out on.

It baffles me also that they implemented a brig within the armory. I mean, if you want to avoid anything then it is that the inmate is going to grab a gun right after he overwhelms his guard, or like casually walking outside of the cell. And then in the cell they put like all this stuff an inmate could use to overwhelm his guard. I also dont like that it is so busy in the holding cell. Like lots of places you can hide something.

The real struggle is when you want to bundle rooms together without passageway. The game will just generate doors and ladders at some weird position, making your ship turn in an hell maze. I spent hours this week end just juggling rooms around trying to get a layout where the doors and ladder would make any kind of sens.
I just wish we could choose ourselves where the doors and ladders would be for each rooms.

    • @strangerdanger7448

You cant do much about doors, but I noticed with ladders, a 1x1 Companionway forces the ladder to prioritise that room. It doesnt with a 1x1 storeroom - thats the difference. So what I do is stack 1x1 compionways at the back of my ship and voila, a huge ladder all the way up and down. You have to make sure all other 1x1s on your ship are storerooms though.

Great video! I think this is definitely one of the things that even some experienced ship-builders don't consciously think about. I expect most of us (me included) just felt like these interiors were somewhat randomized.
With that said, I've never made much use of the racks and mannequins. I WOULD if Starfield didn't automatically put all items into cargo every time you update your ship! Since I'm constantly tweaking and playing with my ship designs, all my carefully-placed packs, helmets, suits and weapons are constantly getting tossed into cargo. So, I eventually gave up on using any of it.
Maybe one day I'll find a ship I like enough to leave alone. LOL

Thanks for this. I didn't consider this stuff. Considering the wall storage is purely cosmetic, I don't care as much about losing that, but losing weapon racks is something I would not want. And it looks like from the build that the "rear" of the modules is what's important.
Some side notes: I found it amusing that you seemed to like Daimos but detest Stroud Eklund. They are the same layout. The only real difference is a large case vs. small case. The rest is lighting and section dividers. Also, while I also like Nova Galactic, mostly for the mannequins (they are the only armory to have them), the helmet stand is in a terrible place on that shelf, causing helmets to clip through the upper shelf.
I haven't had any issues with the mannequins. I actually have a couple of armors in their inventory and I select which to equip. The only thing to keep in mind, is that whenever I modify the ship, it gives that warning that everything moves to ship cargo bay. When that happens, the armor in the mannequins vanishes. Over time, the habs repopulate their clutter, but I take out the mannequin armor and weapons off the racks and cases before modifying my ship since I'm scared they won't repopulate. Then I add them back. I have yet to test if they come back with armor I don't care about.

Great vid! Obviously, a lot of time and effort went into this. I cant trust storing things in the mannequins(Nova Tech) as I lost some decent secondary gear. It completely vanished, not just the display appearance, but was removed from the inventory. The caveat here is I did have more than one suit stored on the mannequin. My reasoning was the mass it allows per mannequin is more than a single full suit weighs, so I thought it would be safe. The whole inventory thing has me annoyed though. They allow you to decorate your ship with cool stuff you find but every time you switch ships or modify anything, even if its not involving the area you are modifying, everything is moved back to the cargo. So tip for anyone new, dont bother placing items or even guns in cases until you are 100% finished modding that ship. And even them, as soon as you switch ships you’ll have to redo. I wish they would have taken a point or two from No Mans Sky on ship inventory. Though the outpost linking is far superior to having to travel to each of your bases in NMS. Once you figure out a good design flow of cabling between your extractors, storage and links, its pretty rad to see all the supply ships come in to one outpost and only have to make that one stop to get all your supplies.

An interior preview should´ve been a must have vanilla feature, lets hope for a PC mod or an official update for the game. Good video btw.

I love how your mobility is still at 41% with everything added with a class A reactor

Thanks for the vid. I was just comparing these in game and only got through Deimos and Stroud before looking for a video on it. It seems that Deimos and Stroud habs are practically identical except for colour schemes and ambient noise. I'm surprised that they did the same copy paste for Hopetech and Taiyo.

You're welcome and yeah, it does seem like a "cheap" way out for finishing the game to just change lighting scheme.

Thanks for doing this. I am always agonizing over which armory to use. I finally just took it out because every time I change my ship it is going to put eeeeeeeverything i put on display back in cargo. Ugh. 🙄

Yeah, that bug/intended mechanic is stupid.
