  • Flying the Cessna Citation XL private jet from The spirit of Saint Louis airport to the Lee C. fine airport then to Rochester where we have a near miss with lots of birds on the ILS as we breakout. After a quick turn we takeoff for the Naples Florida Airport then fly back to KSUS. This video includes the cockpit view and lots of ATC radio communications as we takeoff and land and flying over Florida storms. Pilot Vlog 244

    Loved this video! The trying to get a word in edgewise was hilarious. The KRST ILS was interesting. Oh, and thank you for saying “yaw damper” instead of “yaw dampENer”. I never understood why some people want their yaw to be wet… lol

    20 years ago we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs...
    Now we have no Cash, no Jobs and no Hope.
    We must PROTECT Kevin Bacon and Capt Moonbeam from deadly birds!
    This Aero Vlog has gone to the birds! (great job jim)

    Nice flight, Gentlemen! ATC Communications was pretty crowded, but understandable. Heard a "40MY" and thought it may be my old Pilatus, N640MY, but not the one. As a former ARTCC Controller, I was used to listening to three receiving sites in a 58,000 square mile sector in the Southwest. Your flights are always interesting and remind me of my PIC days in CE-500's and CE-525's. Bird Strikes are no fun, either especially the claims and paperwork.

      @captmoonbeam  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Nashguy. I would if I could. Coming out of the cloud layer we knew we had missed the large bird at 12 o'clock. What we didn't see till I looked at the side camera and slowed it down was that we had barely missed dozens of birds. That was definitely an Oh sh#t moment.

    Hi Jim, I Love the content and your explanations of things. I have a few questions i believe you are typed in the Challenger as well why or can we see any content from the Challenger from you or Jeff? Next is Jeff British and what type of watch is he wearing. Thanks for all you do to promote aviation.

    • @captmoonbeam
      @captmoonbeam  8 месяцев назад

      Hi Jeff. Thanks for watching. I only have a SIC type in the Challenger. Jeff is from there but, a US Citizen now. I do have earlier Challenger content upload But that aircraft is out on a long term lease so it's gone.

    Excellent video, Captain! I have a question if you don't mind:Why do you switch seats depending on who is flying? This seems to be relatively recent change, as I remember in the past you remained in the left seat no matter who was flying. Does it have to do with this airplane?? Thanks very much...I appreciate it!

    • @captmoonbeam
      @captmoonbeam  8 месяцев назад +5

      thanks. It has to do with a number of things. 1) Is the person typed in the aircraft 2) have we flown together a couple of times already 3) is this person comfortable being in a video. etc. My current copilot has flown in left seat more than he's been on video. Mike my previous copilot had much more experience than me but wasn't typed in the aircraft and wasn't comfortable being on camera so you never saw him over there.

    I noticed on the climb out from Spirit that there appeared to be a temperature inversion. I noticed on the OAT readout it was showing 8C before you punched into the clouds and rose to 18C after you climbed above. Is that a common occurrence there?

    • @captmoonbeam
      @captmoonbeam  8 месяцев назад +1

      we do get that. 2 days ago we were coming into SUS and had to do the ILS that night. At 6,000' it was 20C. on the ground it was 6C.
