Bukit kelam means dark hills in Indonesian. It is named after a mountain in Borneo. Tropica is selling it worldwide, meanwhile its rare to find the speciment here in my country. What an irony..
I am curious as to how long you allow things to set before moving on and continuing your build. Also, how did you anchor the clippings you took from the other tank? Thanks in advance. As usual, your set up looks amazing.
Terracotta rings. Normally he does the hard scape in a day, sometimes he lets it sit on larger projects in case he decides he wants to change something. At least that’s what he’s said in previous videos.
Bucephalandra is probnounced Byoo'-sef-a-lan-dra. The word comes from the greek Bous+kephale which means bull-headed (describing the head of the stamen), so while this could cause one to wonder whether it is the s at the end of Bous or the k at the beginning of kephale that we are supposed to pronounce, there is another name derived from the same two greek roots that we all know how to pronounce: Alexander the Great's horse Bucephalus. So it is the S in Bouse, not the K in kephale that we should be pronouncing. We now return to our regularly scheduled program.
When using the soil in the mesh bags, is there any harm to the plants when removing them and pulling the roots from the bags? Do you find they lose the majority of their roots and they cannot be reused? How well do the nutrient tabs penetrate the soil bags since you're just pushing them under the sand on top of the soil bag?
It shouldn’t do any harm to the plants. If you reuse them it’s said you should cut the roots down to 2-3 cm (~1 inch) to stimulate the growth of new roots. Nutrient tabs or capsules dissolve in water so the particles will penetrate the bags.
Another great video. Your color grading is nice and the pace of vids are spot on. Love the long shot at the end of you vids. I would love to see a quick back and forth (same distance shot) of both tanks to compare what was to what is.
