I am 71 years old and from London, when I was growing up it was illegal to be gay until 1967 when homosexuality was decriminalised but you had to be over 21 years old, I was 14 then and the second eldest of ten children, I told my mother I was gay and she said she always new and she loved, she was a strong woman which gave me the confidence to come out to my siblings who to this day love ❤️ me and my late husband, we were together for over forty years, I wish you both nothing but love

Wow! You are full of surprises! But even Thanh doesn't like women to love there is definitely a reason behind it. And it is not just the fact that you are gay. I like the way you told your stories. Love is not simple thing. But to love and be loved doesn't depend on gender preferences. I have a few gay friends and their coming out and love stories are at some point sound like yours. Be happy. You know who you are! (Even that Eti is trying to figure out the purpose of his life and who he is and what he wants). It's so sad that we live far away from each other and can't talk. To write a comment is not the same as a live conversation. Love you boys! I love you as a women and a mother.

I think people need to get over the "being gay" as if that alone is bigger than concentrating on "being in a real relationship" Know what I mean? 1) Tbh, I'm not sure. We're both fairly relaxed but at the same time also a tiny bit jealous, I'd say. We do give each other much freedom, though.
2) We're both quite clingy 😆

Loved this video and gosh you guys make me laugh I love it 🤣❤️🫂 my coming out story was hard and it took a year or so for my mom to even acknowledge my wife. I grew up in a very conservative Christian family, I didn't come out come out officially till I was 23 I think 🤔 23 or 24. I always knew though something was different about me at a very young age like in elementary school. I always gravitated towards women than guys 🤷🏾♀️ because of my up bringing though I found times where I came out to some people but then would go back in the closet due to fear frankly. But lol it's a long story but that's the jist of my coming out story 🤷🏾♀️😋

And frankly due to all that it still affects me to do this day even being married now🙃 but it helps having now supportive friends and my wife always being there for me to comfort me 🥰

@@etivathanh Ok, so I finally watched this video. Great that you guys had it relatively easy and I'm happy for you! I guess I kind of had it easy too or at least did not have to go through major drama. I grew up in South Korea where things related to sex were hardly ever talked about openly let alone gay related stuff. If gay related stuff ever came up, it would usually be in the forms of mockery, disgust, etc., but it rarely comes up and almost considered either taboo or non-existent. At least that's how I felt growing up. Good thing about this was that I did not have to worry or struggle over the concern of my sexual orientation because no one talked about it really and I did not have to question myself. I was very much aware that it was not to be discussed with anyone, though. I was not curious, and I had no interest really. I just assumed that I would finish school, get a job, then marry a woman and start my own family one day like everyone else. Plus, students in Korea typically have no time for anything other than things that are directly related to schoolwork. I was not a big fan of the education system but looking back, it kind of helped me out since most kids around me was about getting schoolwork done, getting better grades and going to a better school. That's a whole another topic of itself lol
Another unique cultural aspect in Korea that helped me was that there was no pressure for boys to date a girl vice versa. It actually is frowned upon if you dated someone while in school since it was considered something that gets in the way of your pursuit of education. Yeah, so much emphasis on education in Korea.
I did go on one group date in high school though. was arranged by one of my friends. My date seemed to like me and showed further interest to meet with me separately, but I did not feel the same toward her. I did not think too much of it but I had zero interest in girls. That I knew! lol
It wasn't until I went into military service in my early 20s that I found out or confirmed my suspicion that I am gay. In short, one of my good buddies from California confessed that he liked me more than as a friend one evening. My reaction was a surprise as he had a girlfriend back home (although they broke up shortly after but not because of me) and I did not expect that he was gay at all. We were already good friends, and he was super cute. and I was curious. so we kissed. very good. kissed more and well into the late night in the room. hehe
No one knew I was gay though. My coming out to others came much later. To a few close friends, all of whom were straight girls in college. They all fortunately took it well. Some even said they suspected that I was gay already. lol
Then a few more years passed. I eventually came out to my family who never asked me about my romantic life although they always knew I lived with a man. They just assumed that he was my roommate. Go figure!
When my father was sentenced with a late-stage cancer, I decided to tell my family. Since everyone was so stressed out about my father's health, my coming out was not a shocker to them. Timing was good. I believe things would have been quite difficult otherwise. I always thought my mom would be disappointed but would accept me for who I am, but I was always worried about how my father and sister would take the news. They're the "tough" ones. well, my father passed away a few months after my coming out. My mom and sister are alright with me being gay. They don't really make any fuss out of it. They just wish me and my hubby happiness every time I talk to them on the phone, which I'm grateful for.
I am not sure if things would be the same if I were in Korea though. It is still rather hostile society towards gays. Very little progress has been made in the last 20 or so years as far as I am aware. Only my direct family members know that I live with a man, and they don't feel comfortable letting other relatives know. I don't think it is necessary but it is telling how the reality still is for us gays in Korea. We have to stay hidden. Anyways, I'm happy to have been able to live my life rather freely as a gay man in the US and now in Germany. Ok, super long comment. Not brave enough to appear in your video (sorry) so lengthy write up here. Thanks for reading! :)

I actually studied with Koreans in Vietnam, and I always saw the school system as rather bad, so it's interesting to see that it actually has helped you in a way. And likewise, the strong focus on education, which I also think is tough, seemed to actually have some good side here.
The story with you and your friend sounds like an amazing love story! What happened to him, or is the still your hubby?
Yeah, I'm afraid the situation hasn't changed much in SK. From what I've gathered from my classmates, much of the homophobia still persists, though my classmates were largely fine with it (some even were interestingly close with me).

@@etivathanh My god, I'm telling you it's a living hell! so much work to do and so much pressure to do well. I'm glad I'm no longer a student in Korea. I can tell you that much haha
By the way, I would guess most Koreans will be perfectly fine (or try their best to maintain a straight face to be polite at the least lol) with gays overseas, especially gays that are not fellow Koreans. Plus, Germany is a highly regarded country by most people in Korea. So, that probably explains the interactions you had with Koreans.
So my first bf is not my hubby. He and I were together for about two years until he was transferred back to the US. We did meet up in the States though as I went to school in the US shortly after he got sent back home. Long story short, I broke his heart, and we went our separate ways. At the time I was not sure there would be a life for me as a gay man. So much fear and unknowns in the strange new land, then. I was in very homophobic part of the US, too. I know, what was I thinking? I actually was so afraid that I was going to stay in the closet for the rest of my life, marry a woman and have a family. And that's exactly what I told my ex. He was upset and would call me many times about getting back together. Gosh, I must have really broken his heart although I was lost myself too and had no intention of hurting him. By the way, he still holds grudge on me, but he's been happily married for well over 10 years now with a cute Pinoy in California.
I was fortunate enough to have dated a few nice men and learned a lot about how life could be as a gay man, which was very promising and helped me become more hopeful. Eventually I left the conservative area and moved to NYC where I later met my hubby. NYC was a lot of fun! and not so fun sometimes. :)
By the way, I came out to a few of my close female friends while in college. I did not come out to my family until 2019 when my father was diagnosed with cancer. I met my hubby in 2010. Some guys only date those who are out. I'm only grateful that he was patient and understanding of my situations. He came out in his late teen/early 20s. His father stopped talking to him for nearly one year but then eventually warmed up to him. I met the entire family when they came to NYC in 2011. Such loving bunch of people and treated me no different. I felt very much "normal" around them.
All of his family is very open and very understanding. I wish this is how everyone in the world was!
By the way, since you shared so much in the video, my hubby's older sister's husband is also bisexual. Well, he was with a man when young. My hubby had a gf in high school but mostly peer pressure.
I, on the other hand, have never even held hands with a girl. So, I'm more like Thanh in that sense, gay gay gay gay gay lol

i am asexual and nonbinary and queer. my story is not dramatic eniter. i just never dated properly and dont really want it and say my parentrs how it is and let them deal with it. I feel like in some sucomstenses nonbinary have privelege over binary trans people. when in my case, for example, i dont want hormone therapy but in russia where i live, goverment banned transgender care all together and i feel like i am more lucky then many others. my parents pretty liberal and i just overtime tell about myself organically when i feels like, but my father still call me girl sometimes.

When I was 11 years old I feel that I am a gay and at the age 15 I finnally recognised my Identity as a gay after preparing myself mentally since childhood my behaviour is completely different from other boys and I don't like girls I don't want to close with any girl but I have a strong feeling with boys I feel comfortable with boys mentally when any contact with any boy I have feel love hormones not with any girls I feel uncomfortable and heatfull feeling or environment with any girl so I recognised me as a gay 🏳️🌈❤❤ but I know my gardens like cut me into pecics when they know about my homosexuality 😢

Eti, it sounds that are bisexual if you can find an attraction in girls still today. You said pansexual, but that's a person who mostly attracted to personalities. In such a case, you can ask yourself if you think you could find attraction to a transexual and pretty much any sexuality. A trans person with boobs and a d**k is something I have strong feelings about and cannot go there. That would be pansexual. But I'm not insure you could possibly redefine yourself as bisexual. Think heavily on that however. It's always easy to say gay. But I'm like Thanh, no female parts. They freak me out at the thought of doing that, although I did once. Hm... bisexual would kind of mean I'm attracted strictly to both male and female genders (however that's defined then), so basically a very binary sexuality. But, I can be attracted to a trans person too. For example, there are transguys/FTM I find really attractive (also sexually), that's why if I don't call it "gay" I would call it "pan". However, in fact, my experience of this is rather fluid, meaning not always the same - hence I tend to not care about that for myself so much.
And yes, I would love to hear the rest of your story and the reason why you slept with your friend despite not being into her!
