West Coast Swing Dance, Basic Connection, July 1, 2024

West Coast Swing is a smoother dance in the Swing Dance family. It is somewhat less dependent on set patterns. Creative movement emerges according to the spirit of the song and personalities of the dancers. Essentially a joyful dance, the expression is generally upbeat. Madeline and Clark were faced with a mix of students, according to experience. Starting with separate groups, one group was then formed that began with general body position and gradually morphed into a good basic by adding rhythm, timing and the unique step pattern of West Coast Swing. By the end of the class beginners had a good start on the Basic ,while more experienced students had improved their leading and following skills. Excellent class and a supremely fun evening.
