Just a heads up guys. No disconnection issues so far👌
Great review. Quick question….if you had your eyes closed and bounced back and forth between the C&D?? Could you honestly notice the differences?
@@riley6723 thank for the support riley! yes, but only because I know what to listen for. Alot of folks don't, and that is okay. You have to also try and listen for yourself and decipher if these year over year improvements are worth your hard earned dollar. Also, everybody's taste are different, but for me...I can hear the differences between the c and d👍
@@TheRokaphella thank you for the reply. It sounds like there is a noticeable quality upgrade in sound then I am assuming. Plus I’m sure this model will be future proofed for another year or more.
HAVE tried the klipsch flexus core 200 soundbar
Just received mine. Love it and the sound !! 🎉
Congrats man! Hope you enjoy!👍🖖🏽
Hey man nice video! I saw your comment about the firmware update 1622 ruining the qn900b. Can you make a video about this? I also have a qn900b and I was thinking about updating it until I saw your comment. Cheers
Man, I already loved your content, but when you played crysis 2 theme as the music test I instantly thought "this man is the MVP" 😎😎
Lol! Appreciate it my friend!💪🖖🏽
Hello, thanks for the video, quick question, i have a lg soundbar since 2018 SK10Y, i have the lg g3 77" , do you think it would be better to switch to this samsung soundbar for the lg tv or look at another model? Bcs also i see your video of the soundbar lg S95TR and .... well as you said seems that is a *** xD. Thanks for the video!!
I just bought the Q990D, quick and easy installation, I love it. Sounds great with movies, games and links to my Android phone to jam. Zero connection issues for me after a week. Great review. I plan on keeping mine for many years
Congratulations! Glad you are enjoying!💪 Thanks for tuning in and the support👍
What is your recommendation on the settings for a small room for this soundbar
Is wireless dolby atmos only available with a Samsung TV or is wireless dolby possible with oyher TVs?
I got the Q990C last weekend for a crazy price at Best Buy . Thanks for the review, I do like the black more than the grey in color but not enough to change it for now .
Yeah I prefer the black over the grey too. Congrats on the deal for the q990c. I hope you enjoy it!
@@TheRokaphellathanks a lot man I appreciate it .
@@TheRokaphellaquick question . I’m coming from a Sonos arc and two S1s set up . Is there a way to raise the levels on the back surrounds . I saw your video on the settings from last year on the C. I been going through testing out settings but seems the back surrounds are perfect for 5.1 content or anything with movies etc . But non 5.1 or just regular cable viewing it doesn’t seem to raise my sound . I understand the purpose of the back speakers. I just wanted it a little louder with non surround content. Thanks when you can I appreciate it .
Awesome. I've tested sonos arc setup with both the big sub and smaller sub, along with the S1's. Nice setup, but thought it was lacking just a little for movies compared to the q990b at the time.
I hear you on the non-movie stuff, but sometimes the level of audio is from how the content is produced.
If you toggle through the "Ch Level" button on the soundbar remote, and get to your "Rear speakers" you can then push up on the circular wheel on the remote and turn up each channel within your rear speaker. Front, side, and top
Hope that helps
Thanks a lot I appreciate that . I’ll adjust these settings and try out content later on .
Bro you have a great honest way of approach and honesty with your content. I just subbed also. I currently have the A800T 3.1.2 and love it. But I want some better movie and gaming and occasional music expansion. I was thinking of going the 990C route as its 11.1.4 setup is on sale for 1699$ plus 13% tax here in Toronto. It’s normally 2399$. But I wanna make sure it’s going to be good for a few years as upgrading every year is crazy. I have the 65” Samsung QN90B tv. And I’d take this 800T soundbar and rears and put it in my bedroom on my 55” Sony Bravia tv
I appreciate the compliment and thank you for your support.💪
Are you talking about the Q800T from 2020? The q990c and q990d can be purchased for less on Samsung Epp site if it is offered through your employer. The q990c or q990d will be awesome if that is the route you choose to go. You will definitely enjoy 👍
@@TheRokaphella yeah here in Canada they even discontinued the education discount. Only way to get a discount on the soundbars is to buy the 65” S90C or 95 tv and it’s 300$ off. The 990D comes out next week but will be 2499$. I almost pulled the trigger on the 800C as it’s onsale this week for 899$ from 1199$ CA. But yes the 800T is from 2020 and my 9100S rear speakers I just found out won’t be compatible with any 2022,23,24 setups. And the 9500S rears are 549$ plus taxes every where. So in the states you guys are incredibly lucky to have the wicked prices you guys do. But my 800T is only a 3.1.2 and the 800C is a 5.1.2 so it’s a big difference and is why I almost bought it while on sale.
@@Scott-cy6zv that is crazy to hear. Yeah being that you're in Canada hearing those prices shocks you at first😅.
But as long as you are aware of the edu and epp options you can make a more sound decision regarding procurement of your sound system choice. I hope you nab a deal!
Nice review keep up the good work my brother
Thanks for watching and the support!👍🖖🏽💪
So how does Symphony work? Does the sound to the soundbar have to come directly from the TV? I don't game but was thinking of Streaming boxes as I like to use the Shield Pro? Thanks
Q-Symphony only works between compatible Samsung tvs and Samsung soundbars. If you plug in your shield pro to a Samsung tv that is Q-Symphony compatible and you're using this soundbar then you would get the option to turn on the Q-Symphony feature in the tv settings menu. Just make sure the soundbar is ran to the earc port on your samsung tv. You can then plug the shield to the tv and toggle on Q-Symphony.
Adding what’s been said, Q-Symphony uses the TV speakers as its own centre speakers. Doing so will automatically disable HDMI 2 on the sound bar and the front speakers on the sound bar. Q-Symphony is only compatible with Samsung TV of the last 3 to 4 years old and relatively high end TV. If you own a 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro then you can stream at 4K 60 hertz with a 2.1 compliance HDMI cable. Only 2.1 HDMI cable allows Ethernet information to pass through from Nvidia Shield Pro to the TV as long as the TV HDMI port is also a 2.1 or 4K 60. In the past Samsung TV only true 2.1 ports are HDMI port 3 (EARC) and port 4. Nvidia Shield Pro 2015 and 2017 does not support 4K 60, only 30 hertz. If you don’t have a Samsung TV or non compatible Q-symphony TV then just plug the Nvidia to the sound bar HDMI 2 and HDMI 1 to the TV port 3. I think only the latest TV from Hisense, TCL and LG has all 4 HDMI ports are compatible to the 2.1 standard.
I got the s89c and q990d. I was experiencing bad drop outs with tv and shield apps like netflix until i enabled earc on auto thru the tvs sound menu. I have the 990d connected from earc out to earc tv and whield connected to hdmi. Did you have to turn the earc to auto as well? My bar now says earc to where before it was saying arc.
Yes you did exactly right with turning it to auto in the menu. 👍💪
Congrats on your setup. I hope you enjoy. Do you use Q-Symphony?
Should you use your tv EArc port for the sound to play games or plug the ps5 into the sound bar? My tv supports 120fps and Dolby atoms on EArc
I would run the hdmi cable from the earc port on this soundbar to the earc port on the tv, then also plug your ps5 into the tv, if you want to have Q-Symphony work.
If you dont care about Q-Symphony, then running your ps5 to the ports in this soundbar will give you 4k 120 (but no Q-Symphony). Granted your tv can do 4k at 120hz
If I heard correctly you said run the console through the TV for better picture quality. As far as I'm aware running it through the soundbar should not damage picture quality, or am I mistaken?@@TheRokaphella
@@TheRokaphella thank you!
Now that 990D 4K120/HDMI 2.1 is onboard... what would you like to see on the 990E? Mine would be actual OTA updates (plugging in a USB is simply stupid in this day and age) + some way to ADD another subwoofer
Yeah. Definitely would like to see an option with another sub and maybe integrate 2 more fron speakers somehow.
Thanks for tuning in💪
i think they have to focus on user friendly interface, make things work better together, because how good this soundbar may sound premium, their overall smart functions are very amateuristic, if you compare with sony.
ios tapsound not available.
airplay 2?
chromecast awefull
dtsx how to enable with content?
connectivity is also important
What’s the main differences between the 990d and 990c? And is there any noticeable sound quality improvements with the 990d?
I explain it in the video.👍
If this was my setup, I'd bring the sound bar to the outside edge of the cabinet. Rather listening to the slightly delayed reflected sound coming off the cabinet. It is better to hear the directed sound only. It'll probably help with dialogue intelligibility, too.
An audiophile.
Aside from the picture and music upgrades, are the sound specs better or the same as the Q990C?
I don't have any tools to measure the decibel level, but to my ears the Q990D audio is slightly more crisp and detailed (however, not by a major amount).
@TheRokaphella Thank you. I have the last three top Samsung Soundbars that came out. I'm gonna make another purchase soon, and I'm thinking the Q990D or the Nakamichi Dragon 🐉 11.4.6. I've been eyeing that beast for a while, but I am a Samsung loyalist.
Hello, planning on getting this sound bar (my first sound bar)some time this week, i don't have a samsung tv, i have a sony should i encounter any problems with lag / or anything else ( other than not using q symphony). Thanks
No you should be fine. It's a great soundbar setup. I hope you enjoy💪
How is this for Dolby atmos Should I get this or the klipsch
Home theater
The q990d is fantastic, especially if you have a newer Samsung tv to use it with for q symphony. I have not spent time with the Klipsch, so I am not equipped to give you an answer regarding it's capabilities currently.
My q990b drops out the sub and only left rear constantly. Think it is my Orbi mesh interfering. Just bought q990d for $1,259.00 from Samsung EDU store . FWIW, the q990c was $700.00 flat. This video convinced me to spend the incremental. Thank you.🎉
Yeah the q990b I don't think was designed well because those dropouts were horrible. Not so with the q990c or q990d.
Congrats on picking up the q990d and for a better price. I hope you enjoy and your experience is much better this time. I did see that the q990c is super cheap with Samsung epp. 700 is an awesome deal for the c.
Thanks for the support. Please like and subscribe for more upcoming content👍🖖🏽
Hello, what do you recommend? HW-Q990D or JBL 1300? thank you
Q990D👍
I really wish they'd offer the 990D in just the soundbar/subwoofer setup without the surround speakers. I don't believe they've done this since the 950A
You can get the q900c setup with just the soundbar and sub. The 900c is basically the q990c without the rear speakers. I haven't seen a q900d setup available just yet.
@@TheRokaphella question, so I guess you’re right, technically what I bought in 2021 was the hw-900a I believe. That thing is on another level. The following year for a different room I bought the 910b which comes with the surrounds. I’m just telling you straight up that the 900A has soooo much more POWER and fuller sound. I use the 910b without the surrounds but even when I used it with them, same story.
Why is this? It’s scared me from buying another soundbar bc the rooms where I use these are bedrooms and I don’t need surrounds. I just want the power of the 900A but in a new soundbar.
The Q900A is a 2021 release with a 7.1.2 setup. It gets louder, so it's ideal for larger living areas, though it doesn't come with satellites like the 9.1.2 setup of the Q910B.
The Q910 is more a less a Q800 that comes with rear speakers.
oh ok thanks for clarifying. So if I’m going to purchase one this year or any year and I don’t need the satellites I should go for the hw-900c or 900d?
Correct. You got it my friend✅️👍
just got mine upgrading from Q990B and wow this thing rocks still a very loud system at volume 10 especially with atmos content but still sound separation is incredible bass is tight its more feels than hear detail and clarity compared to b im honestly surprised on how much better it is and the feeling you have entered the movie even at such low volumes amazes me well done Samsung !
Awesome! Congrats Audio Boy!💪 I hope you enjoy.👍
@@TheRokaphella sure am
Can I ask why you upgraded?
@@ChrischlyM my q990b had a subwoofer rattle issue

hello, I would like to buy the q990C soundbar for $1040 or it is better to choose the q990D for $1390. Is there a big difference between the two to pay over $300 more. I buy the soundbar in Germany.
If you are a gamer and listen to alot of music it might make sense to lean the direction of the q990d.
Do you think music sounds much better on the D, over the C then?
It's not a huge difference, but it is noticeable. Not so much in the audio clarity (the treble) but on the lower end.
If i have the S95C and plug my Xbox and PS5 directly to the tv, no point in getting the 990D since it’s not better than the C if i only care about movies. I feel like the D is for the people with Sony TV’s who only have two hdmi 2.1 ports. One 2.1 for the device and other one is used for e-arc. The S95C comes with four 2.1 ports so the pass-through in the soundbar is pointless for my setup. PS5, Xbox, PC and i would still be covered using the ports in the TV. That way i can still use Q-symphony. You definitely helped with my decision. Thanks for the video! 🙏🏿💪🏿
You're welcome.👍 Your statement/analysis makes sense.
Thanks for stopping by man💪
just got my q990c and love it , the q990d is really doing alot better with music then the q990c?, and thanks for the video appreciate it.
You're welcome!👍💪 Congrats on picking up the Q990C. Glad you are enjoying it! It is a fantastic soundbar. I absolutely am enjoying mine in my setup. When it comes to music the q990d does sound better overall for music. My wife noticed it too.
It is not a huge upgrade when it comes to music, but once you listen to the 990c and then listen to the q990d... you can hear the improvement.
Some people might not be able to tell the difference, and I'm no true audiophile, but I produced music for roughly a decade, so I trust my ears.
thanks for the answer! appreciate it, and for movies you say they are about the same?@@TheRokaphella
can i ask another question how is the dialogue quality difference between c and d?@@TheRokaphella
Hi do you know when it be available in united-kingdom?
Thanks
Not sure my friend. I would assume pretty soon though👍
Thanks!
You bet! Thanks for watching and the support!💪
Does it have good bass? Like mid-range lvl?
Yes. But there is room for improvement in the midrange still. Overall, it does have a full sound
Upgrading from the 990B to the 990D. Hope it is was worth the wait and will notice it a difference in the sound and performance.
Awesome.👍 Congrats James! Hope you enjoy your setup man! Double back if you get a chance and let me know what you think
@@TheRokaphella outside of the wireless aspect any advantages/disadvantages to going wired dolby atmos versus the wireless connect.
Does Q-symphony make a noticeable difference? It seems that everyone out there has a different opinion.
To my ears, it makes the front Soundstage sound fuller
@@TheRokaphella thank you for the fast response. So not a game changer but a noticeable difference?
Which TV did you use in this video ?
QN900B 8K 85 INCH NEO QLED
Before you guys start opening your wallet to buy this soundbar just for the hdmi 2.1 passthrough, i just thought you should know this: The HDMI 2.1 isn't for PC Gaming. it does pass 4K120 HDR VRR (Fine for PS5 and xbox SX but doesn't pass 4K144 Or 4K120/4:4:4:/HDR/VRR/10Bit/12Bit. Hence you gonna experience flickering or drop outs if you're using it for PC gaming at 4K 120/144Hz HDR 4:4:4
Thanks for that insight💪💪👍
I connected ps5 hdmi to soundbar and now on TV settings it shows up as Invalid (hdmi earc) I am very confused. Have the new qn90d and 990d set up.
Even after unplugging the PS5 I've switched to a ultra high speed hdmi cable from TV to sound bar( earc to earc) and still shows up as invalid (hdmi earc) the soundbar led lighting does say TV eARC
Everything works but the ps5 in connected devices doesn't get recognised half the time as it's constantly saying no signal or has a delay before switching. I've tried both non earc hdmi ports to ps5 as well.
Any suggestions to why this is?
@@robbeecdo you use 4k 48gb speed hdmi cable
@@eventhorizon2873 i bought 3 ultra high speed certified ones to test currently using a gtek 8k 48gbps, have an ubluker to test next, and a cygnett which i used for the ps5. Just ordered 990D from Samsung for 1199$ with a huge discount through my job. Was real close to picking up an open box 990C yesterday from Best Buy for 1023, but passed because they couldn’t come down on the price. Their open box was actually the display model that had been out for 8 months. I’m glad I walked away from that.
That is awesome man. Congrats on the epp discount! I hope you enjoy! Double back when you get a chance. I am interested in knowing if all of your Hdmi ports work, as I was having an issue with port 1 not working at all.
Me too!

Yes, it is
@@TheRokaphella Thank you for the reply =)

Nope. Lol
I tried 🤣🤷🏿♂️

What about Samsung Q990B Vs Q990D thanks
Worth the upgrade ?
The q990b is Fantastic for movies but had its quirks with connection issues. If you dont need the extra hdmi 2.1 ports and don't listen to alot of music, then the upgrade to the q990d may not be necessary.
@@TheRokaphella what about subwoofer wise
@@TheAudioBoy2024 you will notice better (tighter) low frequencies from the q990d vs the q990b. The sub is better integrated into the audio mix with the q990d. The sound is slightly more detailed and crisp as well.
