I upgraded from HW-Q90R. The HW-Q990D is a major improvement even without the need for HDMI 2.1. I placed the older model in my bedroom so it didn’t go completely to waste.
@egocd The Q90R only has 7.1.4. Its rear speakers only have sound from the front and top. The 990D is 11.1.4. The rear speakers have sound from the top, front and side for more immersion. It has spacefit sound pro which calibrates the sound to your room after analyzing your environment. There are more customizable settings in the SmartThings app. It has AVA which optimizes the voices so that dialogue is crisp and clear even in scenes with loud music and/or sound effects. Overall, the sound and bass fill the room more than the Q90R which is already 5 years old.

I’m from India. I bought a q990d a month back after watching a lot of reviews on RUclips. Mostly made my decision after watching yours and Andrews review 😅. The sheer sound quality and surround of the soundbar with the sub and two rear is just mind blowing! I totally agree with you I can’t stress how much of a bang for buck the whole system is. I’ve used all HDMI 2.1 cables behind my tv unit to make it clean without any wires poking out and mounted my soundbar below the TV. MAN! I’m so proud of my setup and can’t stop bragging about it. I had to wait for years for proper 4k gaming to reach reasonable consumers, but I think it's finally time.

From €1600 (original Samsung Price) dropping to like €800 !
The C one is 799 atm and the D one already dropped to around 1000.
If you find someone with corporatebenefits or unidays, you can get it for 800.
I got the C for $660 on the Samsung website
I an looking forward to your review on the soundbar JBL Bar 1300 and comparison of two these soundbars
Great review. How does it compare to the Sony HT G700? I often have problems understanding the dialog with the Sony soundbar because everything (sounds, music, voices) gets mixed up, even if the overall quality is not entirely bad. But I usually prefer to use headphones as I can hear the voices very clearly. And that's why I'm thinking about getting the Samsung HW-Q990D. Does that make sense?

Can we get a video review of the Polk magnifi max ax sr? I feel that it’s an underrated gem
We would have to buy and test it first before we can consider publishing a video for it. Sorry about that! You can follow along a potential review here: www.rtings.com/discussions/9jSwh60bMPthg_Vb/review-updates-polk-audio-magnifi-max-ax

For an audiophile and casual movie enjoyment will it be good??
@@ritupansarmah9795 my q600b is great for music, set on pcm rather than Dolby it pass thru. Vocals and double bass sound very good, which I think are usually a trade off with soundbars and the sound range is very realistic. My sub never goes past -2 and theres no boom,so I think the 990 can only be a vast improvement over mine as well. Standard setting is best as DSP options drag the vocals about, but can sound good for instrumental parts. Movies sound amazing as long as everything is Dolby digital upwards, but 2 channel old films still sound great 🙃

Yes!
You don’t need hdmi 2.1, get last years unit.
Got one on the way coming from a Vizio 2.1 I got like 12 years ago 😂 I must say it’s a champ still rocks just fine but it can go in my room the 86” needs this guy to go with I have never lived the surround life but im ready and I got to do it up right

Does anyone know if the subwoofer is an 8" or 10" sub?
these are the dimensions we recorded in our full review on our website! Width 8.8" (22.4 cm)
Height 16.1" (40.9 cm)
Depth 16.1" (40.9 cm)
The sub is about the same size as a desktop computer. It connects to the bar wirelessly, so you can place it anywhere in your room.
I think he meant the driver size in inches
Usually the subwoofer is an 8", since it's similar to Q990A, B , C
Good point, sorry about that. We can confirm the sub has an 8inch driver!
I hope Samsung creates a larger more powerful Sub in the future that can be connected to 990 series as an upgrade. I feel it lacks some deep punch on bass compared to other sound systems “cough Klipsch” other then need for Bass from Sub this System is really good
This or q990c vs sonos arc/sub gen3/ 2 era300s?
Sonos arc with sub gen 3 and 2 era 300 = the best

I upgraded from HW-Q90R. The HW-Q990D is a major improvement even without the need for HDMI 2.1. I placed the older model in my bedroom so it didn’t go completely to waste.
@@Mike4VR How is it better?
@egocd The Q90R only has 7.1.4. Its rear speakers only have sound from the front and top.
The 990D is 11.1.4. The rear speakers have sound from the top, front and side for more immersion. It has spacefit sound pro which calibrates the sound to your room after analyzing your environment. There are more customizable settings in the SmartThings app. It has AVA which optimizes the voices so that dialogue is crisp and clear even in scenes with loud music and/or sound effects.
Overall, the sound and bass fill the room more than the Q90R which is already 5 years old.

You have re-used text from TV reviews - "Should you buy this TV?" 6:15 onwards. This is a soundbar, right?
I’m from India. I bought a q990d a month back after watching a lot of reviews on RUclips. Mostly made my decision after watching yours and Andrews review 😅. The sheer sound quality and surround of the soundbar with the sub and two rear is just mind blowing! I totally agree with you I can’t stress how much of a bang for buck the whole system is.
I bought it along with an 85’’ Samsung neo qled qn85d. Q symphony is great but i might add I’m not sure if the tv speakers produce enough output to make a difference but it’s just a complete package and sounds great.
I added an Apple TV 4K to my set up last week and I’ve had a ps5 for quite some time now. All these things included. I’ve used all HDMI 2.1 cables behind my tv unit to make it clean without any wires poking out and mounted my soundbar below the TV. MAN! I’m so proud of my setup and can’t stop bragging about it. My living room is my ADDA now. I’d rather spend time here than anywhere else. Might sound like a couch potato but that I am. Big fan of your videos from India. Cheers to the q990d 🔥

Kind request to RTINGS about this samsung soundbar HW-Q990D will do well with Sony Bravia XR 55" X90L TV? Please can you test this Samsung soundbar HW-Q990D with other TV's especially with sony bravia x90l tv?

Plug your stuff into the tv. You only need to pass audio to the soundbar.
Adding HDMI 2.1 and still having six frames of audio lag when switching on Dolby Atmos is rubbish. :| I get it's probably not the soundbar's fault - Atmos just wasn't built for gaming. Here's hoping a lagless 7.1.2/7.1.4 protocol shows up soon
any new info about that? did u update firmware and try game mode? thx

Just ordered this with more than half the price off during a black Friday deal. Samsung gave me an even better deal as I choose to send them my old soundbar to be recycled! Looking forward to replacing my TCL TS8132.
How much did you end up paying with tax? Also how much did you get in for the trade in? I don’t see that option when I add it to the cart

I wish they'd stop calling the rear speakers wireless, because they are not. as one needs to plug the power cord in. And imho i find it easier to use speaker wire than having to get power to the speakers...
The Equalizer on the app only being Bass and Treble is amazingly crap
That’s only in certain modes, I think. There are more bands when not in an auto mode.
