This woman...honestly. She's unreal. She could caress a slow RnB ballad with sultry lows and soaring highs and at the drop of a hat ROAR and slaughter a duet with rock legends.
Whitney fan, check out Laura Nyro and Labelle (the 3 girls) do 'Gonna Take a Miracle' (1971). It will blow your mind. Lisa Fischer sang on the 2014 Nyro tribute album, singing 'Stoned Soul Picnic'.
+Bledszy, trochę śpiący She has a low tessitura? She has the tessitura typical of a soprano. She consistently sang in the soprano tessitura from G5-B5 consistently. She is still capable of belting multiple G#5s and shows constant support in the soprano tessitura. Mezzos can't do that with repitition. She has a fully connected head voice that extends all the way up to G6. How in the world she's a mezzo? Do you hear the ring in her head voice? That's indicative of a soprano. She's a Full-Lyric Soprano.
I know that hitting a G2 doesn't make a singer automatically a contralto. Yes Grace Jones can hit C6s in mixed voice as a mezzo, but could she stay up there? No. The difference between her and Lisa Fischer is the fact that Lisa Fischer's voice lives in the soprano tessitura. She has endurance and stamina in the soprano tessitura. If she wasn't a soprano, she wouldn't be able to consistently sing in the (G5-B5) region. A mezzo soprano can't do that repetitiously the way she can no matter how excellent one's technique is. Take Beyonce for example, she has one of the best techniques in this business, but she will never be able to mix in the soprano tessitura repetitiously because she's a mezzo. A mezzo's voice sits lower and you can hear that Lisa's voice clearly sits high. Lisa Fischer is a soprano. Listen to the brightness of her mix and head voice. If she was a mezzo, her head voice would have more of thicker sound. Her head voice is bright and ringy in color, which also gives indication that she's a soprano. She can also access her head voice notes above C6 with constant ease. A mezzo wouldn't be that comfortable above C6 comfortably. She has to much ease in her upper range to be a mezzo. She's not a mezzo, she's a Full-Lyric Soprano based on her anatomy and registration.
she ia classically trained to be fuĺl lyric her head range connected to chest voice to reach a high not like c#7 on head voice........with a great controlled over her instrument but able to connect her voice to some register like staccato runs and riff
Xavier Smith she stated in a video that she went to school and was trained as a classical opera soprano..... which is why she is about to still sing them. When your trained your taught proper technique and it’s up to the singer to stick with the technique.
Being more famous doesn't make you more talented. Lisa is a good example. She's one of greatest vocalists of all time along with my favourites Whitney, Luther, Beyoncé and Frank Sinatra 💖
Omg at this being almost half an hour, but thanks so much for doing this. She needs to be more appreciated, she's a vocal BEAST. The control she has over her instrument is unbelievable and also her agility to slide through her range is mesmerizing.
Well you're right but what if people don't want to listen to Lisa Fischer? There's more female vocalists (Jazz, Opera, Bluegrass, Pop) that did all of what these ladies on a daily basis. One could easily listen to Maria Callas or Joyce DiDonato to hear that as well...
+deadwalke lol I'm not saying they should just follow her I'm using her as an example , there are many amazing singers that this generation doesn't recognize and will never know. all I am saying is that there are many great singers other than who we praise to be the best so there fore if we keep referring them ( the whitneys and mariahs) as the best ,people will forget about other singers such as Lisa who is equally and maybe even more talented . She pretty much needs more recognition as of other singers .
+deadwalke hahahaha I love Mariah Callas to death but you will not be hearing the same thing in these artist. I only compare the great Maria with Aretha and Mina
OMG, Lisa Fischer did a concert in Bermuda last year, and she was absolutely fantastic - her vocals are unbelievably out of this world - intense - she is definitely not the Lisa Fischer when she started out and she was real good then!! I was looking forward to her singing "how can I ease the pain" but she didn't go there - and that was OK with me because I would rate her as one of the best singers I've ever heard. She gave one of the best performances I've seen - if you haven't seen Lisa in concert - I suggest you should!!
The crazy part is she can still climb up and hit thise high notes when she wants to she just doesn't do it all the time and definitely not exactly like back in the day I think she's taken great care of her vocals for all these years and I don't blame her with age plus she still wants to keep her vocals in good health I wouldn't go that high all the time either plus over her long career she's done those electrifying highs and super head voice registers so many times and her voice matured with age she'll probably be singing till she dies like Aretha Franklin thanks to her caring for hrr voice keeping it in shape.
Impressive range, but I think what really sets her apart is her unique blend of taste, musicianship, and personality. Is she a soul/R&B singer with classical and jazz influences? Is she a cross between Whitney and Mariah or some combination of Phyllis Hyman and Rachelle Ferrell? Is she with Grand Baton doing art songs or some kind of world music? Her personality itself is hard to put in a box: childlike yet motherly; simple yet cosmopolitan; down-to-earth yet heavenly. The more one attempts to define or categorize her, the more one realizes its utter futility. But here is something I can say with certainty: I am happy and thankful she's around.
+KusanagiRai Yeah! She has many influences: R&B, Soul, Jazz, Rock and Roll, Classical... To me, she sounds more like Rachelle Ferrell, sometimes, especially in some low notes! And yes, she is in tour with Grand Baton. And finally, I would like to say: our words can't describe how this woman is incredible, her talent, her humbleness, she's a gift of nature.
Congratulations Igor for this detailed study of the performances of this marvelous performer and composer. I consider Lisa to be one of the greatest R & B talent, along with Anita Baker, Cissy Houston, D'atra Hicks, Desiree Coleman-Jackson, Jean Carn, Melba Moore, Rachelle Ferrell , Susaye Greene. Magnificent and powerful sopranos!
omg she is blazingly talented. ... and she still has it!!!!!! that's what's getting me. most artists lose it with age and life but she still belts them out effortlessly

Yimauris Beltre Cespeses I mean, Lisa Fischer has a super head voice, which doesn’t thin out as she’s traveling into its higher parts. So I wouldn’t say that Whitney’s is as good. Like you can tell Lisa truly put the effort into mastering it.
I wish she was my vocal coach. She's truly a legendary vocalist. My favorite part is 21:58 singing in Head Voice all the way up to a C#6 and then transitioning to Mix... Hitting that G5 with so much power. I just can't.
I think the G6 note in 'Reaching for You' is super head voice instead of whistle. Several singers' super high falsetto or head voice is often mistakenly taken as whistle. This sounds heavier. I think she's a full-lyric soprano like Ledisi and Lara Fabian. She has a rich timbre but her voice is mid-sized and lives very high. She can push it low into contralto territory and into spinto/dramatic volume but it lives around B3 - G5, with fullness up to and well past C6. I'm still training but I experience elements of this and that's how I know I have soprano elements to my voice. Her voice lives in the fourth and fifth octaves. Full-lyric voices can superficially sound like the voice type one below (Celine Dion & Paul McCartney sound like mezzos and baritones), but the brightness is apparent in their voices as they go up and their comfort in higher tessituras are what indicate full-lyric soprano & tenor rather than lyric mezzo or baritone.
Most definitely a full lyric soprano as she has a warm and bright tone especially the head voice but sounds womanly and a bit darker than light lyric but doesn’t have enough weight to be a spinto so definitely fits full lyric soprano
@@valentinovega5804 There's no voice fach called Full Lyric Soprano , it's Lyric Soprano and Lisa Fishcer had classical training as a Lyric coloratura soprano
@@bbnffgvbnn8860 While Lisa herself said she was classically trained as a Lyric Soprano. And not trained as a Lyric Coloratura Soprano. Also, it's Lisa Fischer. Not Fishcer lol.
People seem to feel that Lisa has been deprived in some way. She could've continued on in a solo career, she did earn a Grammy. But she chose a different path and ended up traveling this entire world touring with The Rolling Stones for 25 years. All in all, not a bad deal.
diva doll exactly. She had a taste of the Hollywood glam life, and it wasn’t 100% for her, at least in a solo way. The way she gradually began to find her own style is just so inspirational. Just so you know, if you ever wanna ask her a question, just send her a message over Instagram. I’ve asked her multiple things, and she’s answered multiple times. Things like her mixed background, as I saw some comments speculating that her label made her look more Asian, to be more of a mystery when it comes to her racial background. She just responded: “I’ve been interested in that too, here’s what I found...” then she sent some racial groups. Her looks 100% match the different parts of the world she mentioned. Love her! :) She’s such a sweetheart.
@@whyhihigh She stated before that Luther took her with him on all his tours, also. I went to see Luther 3 times and I always bragged about his background singers.
diva doll amazing. They were amazing too! He showed genuine love for his team of people. It’s clear in the performances. They look like they’re having fun, whilst singing their vocal cords out!
But she also had issues with the record label too she stated that's why she went back into background singing also yes she has been deprived she should be way more known to the world as a vocal athlete but as she stated she didn't want to put up with the toxic music industry she deserves her flowers for sure and some tributes, many people don't even know who she is and that tragic to me.
Whistle notes G6 is just so divine... sweet to the ear... she gotta move away from the mike because of that powerful resounding voice... a belter to perfection.... :-)
I believe Lisa is more of a Dramatic soprano with a sfogato extension to her voice that she controls effortlessly. Her lower register is robust, thick and rich. Her middle range/register is very warm and vibrant and her upper chest range is without a doubt crystal clear and full bodied in sound. Her head and whistle notes are also sharp, clear and full in sound. All the attributes of a Dramatic soprano voice.
@@reggiemitchell5198 I'm not very sure about it , I asked people who were very familiar about her voice and they said she herself in an interview said she is a trained Coloratura but you can easily tell by her headvoice that she was trained as one
I love her laid back barefoot jazzy sound. I just wish she'd done more music from her debut album when I saw her some months ago. That album is so phenomenal. God I love this incredible lady. She definitely did How Can I Ease the Pain though. ❤❤❤❤
Damn she could have been a legend and a top vocal master along with Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey if she continued to make records but she is great anyway you take it
I think she would have been an Indi Soul/ Jazz artist in this day if she had her choice back in the day, but had to do what was popular back then but I thank her for recording How Can I Ease the Pain bcuz she was a beast in that cut. Unforgettable!
Can we get footage with a great sound system? This Ladies voice is to special to recorded like most of the stuff I've seen on RUclips. Give her her props.
There is almost no one currently who can seriously compete with women like Minnie Riperton, Deniece Williams, Maureen McGovern, Lisa Fischer, Lara Fabian and Monica Naranjo, except Beyonce and Nicole Scherzinger. The mainstream industry today is in a state of lack.
She was one of Luther Vandross’s background singers for years, toured with him all over the world. Look at some of his live concert footage and u will see her.
@Creative Vee she was amazing with Luther, she had to be as Luther was one of the best ever vocalists. I was so lucky to see Luther 4 times in London and Lisa was one of the backing vocalists.
Lisa Fischer is on her s**t, and has been for many years! I have a lot of respect for her. I saw her at the Blue Note 2019 and I just love the song "How Can I Ease The Pain" transforms and transcends. (instead of simply singing the song the way it's been originally recorded-year after year. Let's face it, it gets old. Lisa keeps it fresh every single time she sings it.) Add the fact that she is so beautiful, down to earth and keeps those pipes well oiled! That's why she gets the gigs that she gets. A+ song stylist, and performer every single time.
Loved Lisa fischer....I'm just 24 but I would really like to sing even half as good as her....Her range and vocal control is INHUMAN!!! That 17:07 is my favourite part because..like????? HOW?!?!??! HOW DOES HER VOICE DO THAT???!!!!?!?!
thank for making such great video of the one of the most technical singer of all times. my tank of singers is #1 Lisa Fischer #2 Whitney & Mariah #3 Celine &Patti #4 Toni & Beyonce #5 Shania
Great video! Didn't expect it to be this long. I never heard the first G6 before, found the video immediately after I watched this. There's one great live Bb2 I've heard before in one live vocal range video but I don't know what song it was and the user has removed the video. I thought she's a full-lyric soprano? From what I heard from BZBlaner, primohomme and others, they classify her as full-lyric soprano. And also, she actually uses head voice only to reach those high notes and she never uses whistle register? Nevertheless, she's really a phenomenal singer!
+zeissfan06 She's not a soprano, she has a dark and deep voice, but her technique is amazing, able to reach super high notes in head voice. And sometimes she uses whistle register, as the F#6 in So Intense song. Anyway, her voice is a masterpiece. Thanks for watching.
See Lisa live in Japan Lisa Fischer is amazing! I'm so glad I saw the documentary "20ft from Stardom". I remember hearing Lisa's music back in the day. What a treat to revisit such an artist. Use to be one of the requirements to perform a song was that you actually "could" sing and live no less. Every year the Grammys come and they just hand out awards, cause someone has to win. Sadly, this makes that talent pool weak. Lisa Fischer won a Grammy award tying with Patti Labelle (just so happens Lisa also sang back up on Patti's song as well, mind blowing). Who else was in Lisa's category? Aretha Franklin & Gladys Knight, now that is some legendary singers (Vanessa Williams was included in that group, not the same league. Sorry girl. Loved Ugly Betty.) I've probably gone on too long but how many people can say Chaka Khan (another legend) gave props on their RUclips video? Love you Lisa, your spirit shines through.
Igor thanks so much for posting a video of her range. There was another vid posted by a different user but it was taken down a while back. A couple of questions: What notes is she singing at 24:47 & 25:09 during the climaxes of "How can I ease the pain? Specifically the belted/mixed ones before she ascends into head voice. And I didn't recognize any whistle notes being sang here. Can you point them out for me? Anyway, her head voice is just ridiculous...and those E6's were not of this world.
+coastalonyx The belted notes at 24:47 and 25:09 are G5 and D5, respectively. These F#6 are whistle register. At 25:12, 25:32 and 27:11 the notes sounds like whistle, but I'm not sure, I'm sorry ! And thanks for watching!

@@bbnffgvbnn8860 While Lisa herself said she was classically trained as a Lyric Soprano. And not trained as a Lyric Coloratura Soprano. Also, it's Lisa Fischer. Not Fishcer lol.

She’s incredible, The B5 killed my life, I like all her head notes & whistles f5, g5,g#5,bb5,f5,b5,c6,d5,c#6,d6,eb6,e6,f6,f#6,g6
Thanks for comment! I love her whistles.
Igor Daniel Thank you for the compilation... ! Do you work for her ...how did you get all this film ? :-)
All these clips from this video were found here on youtube.

11:27 resonant g5 and she is I think 59
I believe Lisa is more of a Dramatic soprano with a sfogato extension to her voice that she controls effortlessly. Her lower register is robust, thick and rich. Her middle range/register is very warm and vibrant and her upper chest range is without a doubt crystal clear and full bodied in sound. Her head and whistle notes are also sharp, clear and full in sound. All the attributes of a Dramatic soprano voice.
She's just a full lyric soprano
A lyric soprano
She was classically trained as a coloratura soprano 💀
@@majahandlovu2050 since when?
@@reggiemitchell5198 I'm not very sure about it , I asked people who were very familiar about her voice and they said she herself in an interview said she is a trained Coloratura but you can easily tell by her headvoice that she was trained as one
Chasing Lisa Fisher!
I love her laid back barefoot jazzy sound. I just wish she'd done more music from her debut album when I saw her some months ago. That album is so phenomenal. God I love this incredible lady. She definitely did How Can I Ease the Pain though. ❤❤❤❤
14:59 she looked phenomenal here. Amazing. The hair, my god it fit her so well - but so did and still does all her other hairstyles :)
Damn she could have been a legend and a top vocal master along with Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey if she continued to make records but she is great anyway you take it
She is a legend...all the other great singers...KNOW who she is
3.7 octaves!
this video was fire
This woman is so dynamic.
That intro you made was legendary
Love how she sings with 2 mics. That must be her trade mark..seems like something she could've picked up from Luther
awesome voice and soo beautiful woman! Lisa rules!
absolutely angelical voice! Ebony angel! Lisa is the best!
She control it very great... Especially at 10:34
Its amazing how she sounds really good in her solid lowest notes and her highest
Beautiful voice you remind me of my beloved u shine brighter then the stars above queen
Adore Lisa. What a voice.
Lisa is *ROCKIN' OUT!* You go *GIRL!*
Too underrated.
Most of those women you named aren't even mainstream popular singers.
Stephon Jackson:
Mainstream as in non-classical, including musical theater and r&b, etc.
Sohyang Can
SKMRify SoHyang?
She's Korean.......
Wish she’d do something with Rachelle Ferrell. Their range and techniques are out of this world.
That’s my dream!
I love this women!
12:08 sounded so amazing. So light, full yet thick. I don’t know how to describe it - the closest would probably be ‘smooth’.
this was needed
She and Jeffrey Lewis (from the Craig Lewis Band) sound almost identical!
Hermoso❤ gracias!!
Im in love...
My fave E6 of hers 25:20
Her ease in this note is insaneeee
I just discovered her a few hours ago but she’s my all time favorite now lol.
She easily knows how to slay vocally
Lisa is so amazing!
Greatest Woman!!!
thank for making such great video of the one of the most technical singer of all times. my tank of singers is #1 Lisa Fischer #2 Whitney & Mariah #3 Celine &Patti #4 Toni & Beyonce #5 Shania

Yes, she is a full-lyric soprano and she does only use extended (super) head voice for the high notes
+zeissfan06 She's not a soprano, she has a dark and deep voice, but her technique is amazing, able to reach super high notes in head voice. And sometimes she uses whistle register, as the F#6 in So Intense song. Anyway, her voice is a masterpiece. Thanks for watching.
She's DEFINITELY a soprano.
Her supported range (as a lyric soprano) might be...
Eb3/E3 - G#5/A5 - G6
Consistently
Eb3/E3 - G5/G#5 - E6
She supported a B5 in mix voice.
And the F#6 in So Intense was consistent since it was whistle register
16:01 didn't know she performed that live. She also did a C6 in the song.
See Lisa live in Japan
Lisa Fischer is amazing!
Sorry girl. Loved Ugly Betty.)
I've probably gone on too long but how many people can say Chaka Khan (another legend) gave props on their RUclips video? Love you Lisa, your spirit shines through.
OMFG! This woman just loves to sing! Thanks for making the video. I just had to ask if she can still hit the G6 note.
I don't know if she can reach it again, her agility in these notes isn't the same, but I don't doubt. Thank you!!!
And thanks for watching!
phenomenal a mix of Whitney
SING ON UP 2 HEAVEN .LISA FISCHER. TELL US HOW U REALLY FEEL !!!

@Igor Daniel, I note that at the end of the video you class Lisa Fischer's voice as a Mezzo Soprano rather than in the Lyric Soprano range.
The best!
Oh how I wish Lisa and Cindy Mizelle did multiple solo albums
