I met Whitney twice in the mid eighties, gave her roses each time (twice) she performed at the ny state fair and saw her live eight times in concert (close up) and her voice was incredible. She is the greatest female singer of all time and most awarded also. I love Lisa Fischer but there is no comparison when you take the complete body of work. I have seen Natalie and Pattie, Diana and Anita and many others, but there will never be another Whitney Houston. She was definitely the soundtrack of my life. She autographed her first two albums for me which I still have.
Jennifer Brigitte Whitney has over 600 awards, behind first place Michael Jackson with 800+ and ahead of Beyoncé with 520. She is currently in second place
Whitney and Lisa split my heart. Lisa has an incredible body of work that continues. Accolades are nice but its about the talent that gets you there and sustains you. Lisa is touring as I type this( barr corona). She's featured on things you only know if you look for her work. He can base with Luther and The Rolling Stones is massive. There isn't a general she can't and hasnt sung. From Luther to 9inch nails to Nina Simone and Dolly Parton. These two are the best to ever do it! The best! I think versatility gives Lisa a inth of an inth...ĺĺone the less
Can I say that being a musician myself I have a HUUUGE amount of respect for both artists but Lisa has that old school effortless raw perfection to her voice that very very few posses. Whitney at times had that to in some performances but Lisa is just oh how can I put it .....IT!!! DAMN!!! she just has IT!!!! God rest Whitneys soul but Lisa I have to say has it beat
agreed, I feel like Whitney appealed to her time period as "the angel" labeling her vocals is one thing, but Lisa has this thing that doesn't involve periods. if that makes since. Whitney also carried a softer "innocent " appearance as well so the crowds they attracted support not just their voices but each icons persona. Lisa just remains grown and sexy.
Salute the royal funny you say that cause Lisa Fischer tied with Patti Labelle for a Grammy in the early 90s. Look it up the noms would never happen again! The amount of talent is exquisite
LETMEINGUYS Lisa is good but Whitney's voice is much more pleasant and more beautiful and deeper! Everyone who has ears on his head will tell you the same! I've been to many concerts and even Mariah with her slimy voice had no chance against Whitney's powerful voice!
Kymeisha Grogins Whitney is better in everything: better tone, much more pleasant voice, much more beautiful voice, deeper voice...................................................................Everyone with ears on his head will notice that!
wat do u know about singing cos if u do as much as I do u will never compare commenting saying whitney saying things of Whitney Whitney has the world's best an highest head voice in the world she's verry much better than tis woman Whitney has the ultimate voice listen to these songs Mericle ,I AM EVERY WOMAN , RUN TO YOU, WHERE DO BROKEN HEARTS GO, SO EMOTIONAL, COUNT ON ME, I KNOW HIM SO WELL, DIDENT WE ALMOST HAV IT ALL, I HAV NOTHING , YOUR STILL MY MAN ,IM UR BABY TONIGHT , ALL THE MSN THAT I NEED ,U GIVE GOOD LOVE , ONE MOMENT IN TIME , I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY , I WILL ALWSYS LOVE U , SO MANY MORE REALLY EVERY SONG SHE SINGS IS VERRY HIGH She has a voice tat is highest supano to lowest of alto the ultimate voice the best voice ever known in the word admit it she's also one of the most beautifull women of all times it jelious of her that's y
Kristian Caumeran really? I've been to her concert and to Whitney's in their prime and believe me Lisa's voice was not even half good as Whitney's much more pleasant and more powerful and more beautiful and deeper voice!Everyone who has seen them in live in their prime and who has ears will notice that! Even Tina Turner and Aretha and Mariah sung way better than Lisa!
SaluteTheRoyalThrone Whitney wasn't on Aretha's level...how dare you? Aretha was her influence....not the other way around. Don't confuse timbre with ability
Edward E Aretha is a better vocalist than Whitney. If you like Whitney's voice more, it doesn't matter. Tone is subjective. Aretha's lows and upper belts surpass Whitney's.
@marquise Washington Whitney has sang any Aretha song shes sung as good or better then Aretha (aint no way - out of her prime.. natural woman.. say a little prayer... Saving all my love...Look into your Heart...) i could go on SO How????? Show me a song they have both sung in ther respective primes where Aretha Destroys her............ Aretha HERSELF despite how much it pains her has called Whitney one of the best. n Aretha don't compliment any n everyone.. Yes Aretha could go lower and higher by a few notes just like Mariah could and Beyonce can and Celine and Many other vocalists.... Does that make them a better vocalist then Whitney?? NO Whitney was also much more versatile.. She had Clarity, could do quick flawless runs throughout her range, had natural power, great volume control excellent interpretation/intonation (throughout her range) beauty throughout, could grow/grit with the best of em and unlike most singers had power in her range. in her actual prime she got more powerful as she ascended despite having a strong powerful middle voice.. as you said yourself.. if you like Aretha more fine but don't lie on Whitney. Range doesn't make you a better vocalist.. however i do believe They are on par as Aretha in her Youth was BEAST to say the least. however i believe Whitney perfected more areas of her voice.
Lisa has more vocal ability. Much respect to her for she's obviously worked very hard to develop her voice to that capacity. I learned how to do whistle register listening to her. But Whitney (my idol) has the better sound. She also has one hell of a belt, while still keeping the same tone. Her tone is captivating and memorable. When she comes on the radio you know it's her right away. You never mistake Whitneys voice for anyone else's because she has a very unique sound that's specifically hers. I can sit and listen to her all day and never get tired. I love listening to Lisa just to practice and attempt some of her vocal technique for it is truly out of this world. What that woman does with her voice is beyond amazing. And she's also great at executing the song with feeling and getting that story across. But I can't listen to her all day long because her sound/tone doesn't captivate me. After a while I get a little bored and want to move on to something else. But again they are both phenomenal in their own way. Each one has something the other doesn't have and you know what, that's what makes us human. We're all unique. Comparing these two women is like comparing an orange to a pear. Different fruits appeal to different people's taste buds. It's all about what the listener likes and what makes them feel good, not so much who's the better singer. Salute to both of these gifted women. And rip to my idol Whitney.
AlxZandria Music Everyone who has ears on his head will tell you that Whitney has more vocal ability and she is better singer! I've been to concerts to both of them and i don't know who is better vocalist but Whitney's voice was much more pleasant and more beautiful and deeper and more powerful...... Lisa's voice was not even half good! Even Mariah's more slimy voice with her 4.5 octaves in 1994 and acrobatics could not help her to match Whitney's deeper and more pleasant voice!
I can’t agree more. When I hear Whitney, it’s magical. It’s a feeling like no other, and I can’t describe it in words. You can hear God through Whitney, if that makes sense. Her tone is so rich, regal, and so ethereal. I never get tired of listening to her. I think Lisa is better technically, because she can access so many regions of her voice so easily. I still stay in Whitney’s lane though because of her unrivaled tone. NO ONE in this world has it. It’s such a tragedy that she’s gone now. Imagine how much greater she could’ve been with her voice if she hadn’t abused it! However, I couldn’t ask for more from her, because she gave us everything.
All subjective. Lisa is a better vocalist SIMPLE AS THAT. Doesn't matter who has more impact, success, or voice you prefer. This about technique. Lisa has better lows, mid belts, upper belts, head voice, agility, longevity, and consistency. She's almost 60 and is belting supported resonate G5's, A5's, B5's, and a couple C6 and C#6 belts. Whitney could never. Prime Whitney was STRAINING F5's.
marquise Washington When you reach a certain benchmark in singing where you’ve mastered or taken almost every aspect of your voice to the fullest potential, the deciding factor as to who is better than the other almost always comes from preference. Of course the decision between who is better is subjective! You could line up 10 of the world’s best vocalists in the world and find that not one of them is able to do EVERYTHING better than the other. There are certain facets that the greatest singers are known for that make them the best. I do agree that Lisa is better technically. However, I simply prefer Whitney much more.
They both have a great instrument. Lisa can sing very high. Head voice of Whitney is the best with Martha Wash. I prefer the tone, resonance and musicality of whitney's voice. Lisa is still a great singer. She deserves recognition for sure.
Bottom line, Lisa Fischer is right there with Whitney, in every way for me as the greatest soprano vocalist ever. I love each of them, and Whitney's place in history is well secured. However, I often wonder if Lisa had not shunned the spotlight for a solo career and recorded more albums, she would have ŔEALLY , REALLY, become a superstar , just as much, if not.moreso than Whitney and Mariah in the 90s. Lisa Fischer's soprano vocal instrument plain and simple is out of this world mind-blowing!! She is an incredible talent!
Whitney's voice was absolutely amazing. But after having seen them both live, Lisa was more impressive to me. She has such a vocal and musical command that is unmatched. I still love Whitney though.
JLPerryTv and Whitney is the best female voice there will ever be! Whitney's voice is much more pleasant and more beautiful and deeper and more powerful! I've been to concerts to them and Whitney was the best!
Lisa Fisher was blessed with one of the rarest and most astonishing vocal talents ever to grace this planet. Sadly she is always, for reasons I'll never understand, under appreciated by all but a few who can actually hear and feel what she's capable of. And yes, her upper register is astonishing. If she'd had operatic training she'd have conquered the world.
Dissily Mordentroge Lisa Fischer was blessed with rough voice in compare with Whtiney! I've been to concerts to both of them and Lisa's voice was not even half good as Whitney's much more pleasant and more beautiful and deeper and more powerful voice! Everyone with ears will notice that!
I'm a die hard lisa fischer fan i heard every song she made and i also love other incredible amazing talented women ( whitney / mariah / patti / mr mills / mr moore / barbra....and many others ) okay so lisa has an incredible vocal capacity and control over EVERY REGISTER she sing so effortlessly and her high belt is on P O I N T and it doesn't sound " idkish " like other singers high belts do and she Has the best falsetto control and tone i've heard in my life along with mariah carey but the killer bonus she has is her killer head voice that woman has a headvoice so clear pure and high that people think it's a whistle and her control over it is so amazing but i see why people love whitney i admit she's no one to play with in mid belts and tone quality she sounds like what a word " singer " would look if it was a person her tone and voice are amazing as hell idk why lol and her transition and style everything in her voice is a gift I love lisa but i would say it's a draw or whitney is slightly better
This is great comparison. I was & still am a huge Whitney Houston fan. I grew up on Whitney's music. I cannot believe I didn't know of this Lisa Fischer! She is AWESOME! What a talent! I would never have known about her had I not seen a special on back ground singers lately and it's 2016! Geez why didn't her record company & public relations people really back her? She signs have been promoted properly as she belonged at the top with Whitney & Mariah. I absolutely love the video on you tube of Lisa singing "How Can I Ease The Pain" live in 1991! Phenomenal! And she won a grammy for that song! I didn't even know she had been with The Rolling Stones since 1989! I always wondered who that power house voice was especially on "Gimme Shelter" Wow! ...boy Mick Jagger won't no dummy.... Can you blame him? He recognized pure raw talent when the music biz totally let this beautifully talented singer slip through the cracks! Lisa if you happen to read these comments ....girl....GGGIIIRRRLLL you are PHENOMENAL! Thank you for sharing such talent & I'm sorry you where overlooked as one of the best singers out there & not given your due. Glad there are other artist that recognized your amazing talent & you've done stuff with them! You are truly AMAZING!
I feel that Lisa Fisher chose the rolling stones route so that she didn't have to sell her soul. I believe that she knew she had a good gift and did not want the music industry to screw her over so she took shelter (no pun intended) under the rolling stones and I think it did preserve her a bit. Whitney, on the other hand and took the Clive Davis deal. And it did eventually ruin her.
Oh, I'm sure @L.I.S.A.F.I.S.H.E.R was aware that her voice was exquisite. She is a Grammy winner for How can I Ease the Pain. Listen to her live performances In Japan, and at the Apollo Theater. Whitney definitely had a gift but Lisa had THE gift. I haven't heard another singer with the quality and skill as a vocalist pitch perfect as Lisa Fisher.
Lisa Fischer is far more consistent in terms of vocal placement, technique and stamina. Her vocal acrobatics does not stray away from the melody and tune. She has more respect for the music/genre she sings. It’s not all about her. Her voice coexist with the lyrics and music she sings.
Helga Pons than go and clear your ears because Lisa's voice is not even half pleasant as Whitney's more pleasant, more beautiful, deeper and powerful voice! It is not even opinion! Everyone who knows about music will tell you the same!
Her lows, upper belts, agility, and head voice surpass Whitney. They're tied when it comes to mid belts. So overall Lisa is a better vocalist than Whitney. You can prefer which ever tone. But Lisa is better objectively.
Nippy's mid-belts are above and beyond. There is no tie there. Like Lisa's C3,but i would not say that she is better than Whitney above C#3.Nippy's D3 & Eb3 are really good.Nippy's sweet spot is her F3's. Lisa is expected to have more ease in the upper register. Nippy's upper belts were damn on point, though. Huge column of sound up to the upper notes, great agility(Listen to her downward runs) and perfect diction.Lisa can stay up there longer, but she close her throat or something while belting saometimes ... You know? I would call them "tie" high belts. When it comes down to volume control,Nippy takes it.She dealt with a wider spectrum of volumes. Nippy's sense of ormanentation was truly divine.Lisa has a more "suitable" type of voice for that kind of singing, though. Both ladies have phenomenal head voice.Lisa's is thinner and reaches the stratosphere.Nippy's head voice is thicker and overall more dynamic.Nippy's transitions through the registers were absolutely seamless. All registers perfectly connected. Her overall range is the most even. Lisa is more versatile, but nippy is the better interpreter...etc .. Objectively speaking,Lisa is not better.
I love Lisa, I just wish her songwriting matched her vocal talent. She could have been on Whits level with better songs. HCIETP is a smash though. Not many can do that. Both are greats!
Lower Register - Lisa Midbelts - Whitney Upper belts - Tie Head Voice - Tie Both incredible vocalists & true virtuosos with such precision & skill. I'm gonna have to say slight edge to Whitney for me though because there's simply no one with a sound as big as hers.
Song like dance I wanna dance with somebody, were commercial hits for Whitney, she appealed to the masses,Lisa is not widely known and therefore because of this she appealed to me more, not taking anything away from Whitney, but my preferences will always be the lesser known less commercial artists.
Robert Marks only a person who is deaf or who knows nothing about voices ( 10-years old kid)can say that! I've been to concerts to all of them and believe me Lisa's voice was not even half good as Whitney's much more pleasant, deeper, more beautiful and powerful voice!! Mariah is after Whitney! Everyone with ears on his head will tell you the same! Bye and go learn about music!
Lisa Fischer is fucking beautiful and bad as hell back in her prime. She hd the grace and presence of Whitney. In looks she definitely surpassed Mariah who always walked around looking like an adolescent school girl.
Both are amazing and have great techniques. Lisa seemingly sings more effortlessly and smoothly. But Whitney has a better tone and sounds more appealing overall
+naturreal1705 I've been a die hard Whitney fan from the first time I heard her beautiful voice. Now seeing some of her LIVE performances on youtube, is mind blowing. Whitney was even more amazing live! Try again!
Whitney touches you in every song she sings. The only song Lisa touched me with was how can I ease the pain, The rest of her songs are flat. But I’m sure if Whitney sang them she would have made them more special and touching. She sings was way more emotion.
@@blackmamba3429 Lisa is more consistent than Whitney in the upper belts and Lisa is also better in head voice, a little bit actually, but still better.
@@kenrryfonseca729i think Lisa can sing higher in head voice than Whitney with comfort but that's a range thing, it doesn't prove ability, because Lisa did have a broader range. For as high as Whitney can sing in head voice with comfort that her range allows her, around G5, she has more fullness and is more dynamic than Lisa. Beyond that, it gets a bit too high for Whitney (range wise) and not for Lisa. So, I think it's: Lows: Lisa. Mid Belts: Whitney. Upper Belts: Tie (more head dominant belts from Lisa mean a bit more ease, a much more chest dominant approach from Whitney means more fullness and power). Head Voice: Whitney (for the above reasons). Agility: Whitney. Vibrato: Whitney by a slim one. Dynamics: Whitney
To me this is a great exmaple of two excellent vocalists who studied and perfected their voices and also had great musicality.. I am a die hard Nippy fan but not deaf or blind. Lisa has a wider range and is more flexible with her voice in terms of jumping octaves.. However Whitney power and beauty throughout her range to me better at singing a song period and most important had a different sound... I think this video and many others shows the difference in how Whitney Sings compared to others. She Enunciates and actually phrases in her mid n higher belts and maintains beauty and vibrato up G's because her placement was high in her prime she never utalized a mix and due to the type of music she sang in her prime rarely belted for belting sake... Lisa is EXCELLENT n gifted but her sound in her upper register and her use of it is not hard to find in excellent singers with wide ranges. just comes down to who's "squarl" you prefer .. I see some people quick to try and discredit Whitney's style and musicality when i can guarantee they haven't listen to her true work/vocals most of which are live audio's... but anyway you like who you like.
I love Whitney alot especially her tone she has on of the best tone .I love Mariah alot to . but generally LisaFischer is a way better singer than the to . I really miss Luther's because how can I easy Luther all over it if Luther was alive Lisa Fischer would have given sound to match her paramount talent
Lisa Fischer is above and beyond Whitney Houston. Idc what anyone says, she has so much more vocal ability. Some people are just too stuck on the "brand name" of Whitney Houston to realize how much more talented Lisa Fischer is. Not saying I don't like Whitney, I think she's absolutely amazing. Lisa is just a little better in my opinion.
Ariel Austen Lisa is nothing in compare with Whitney and everyone who has ears on his head and who knows a bit about the music will tell you the same!Whitney has much more vocal abilities! Her voice is better and more powerful and more pleasant! Everyone who has ears will tell you the same! Bye!
I think Lisa is phenomenal!! She can hang with Whitney and Mariah. Each of them has their own unique vocal characteristics. No comparison needed. They are all great. I'm not sure what is going on with all the negative comments, but I wish they would cease.
I know your speaking of vocals but it's still hard to make that choice for me the only song I'm familiar with as far as Lisa is concerned is How can I ease the pain. Whitney have better singing material. So my ears are naturally biased to Whitney!
Wow I don't know what to say... I prefer Whitney's tone and music overall but I wouldn't say that Whitney won this. This is tie. Lisa Fischer is one of the greatest vocalists of all time too and I love her music.
Lisa is the only vocalist I know that can compare and even beat whitney and mariah in areas. Although whitney and mariah are my all time favorite vocalists, Lisa is a better singer. You can’t be blinded by whitney and Mariah’s brand names. Overall I would have to rank #1 Mariah #2 Lisa #3 Whitney but literally all by the closest second.
This is seriously just an INCREDIBLE comparison. I echo what basically everyone else has been saying as far as registers go. They're both great throughout their ranges, and virtuosos in their own right. Draw. One of my favorite battles of the year so far, easily.
Two Beautiful vocalist. Lower Register: Both do have great tonal quality and resonant but I think Lisa just takes it untill they even out around Eb3 Belting: In the low/mid belts I think Whitney has a more controlled sund, her centre of pitch is perrfect. Whitneys D5 take takes the vid imo. 12:01 Lisa -was just pure brilliance 13:26 Whit - was absolutley beautifull 16:08 Lisa - was stunning, Everything Whit executed on those C#6's was pure mastery and such fluidity. Overall Whitney takes it.
@@dspencer8895right, and that is range and has nothing to do with vocal ability. They didn't display riffs and runs either because Lisa would get bodied.
Tbh, in terms of skills and choose of genre, Whitney is more likable and very pop compared to Lisa. I think it's meant to be like that. Lisa is much more agile and breakthrough, and never follow the rule of mainstream record music. But if you think that Whitney's skill is above Lisa, certainly that your fandomness has deafening your ears.
Two brilliant vocalist, and such a great video. They tied for me. Lisa definitely took the lower registry for me. Hers is so dark and full. I loved her lower belted notes as well. Whitney took over during the upper chest portion for me. Something about the power and punch behind her voice is everything. The head voice was tie for me. Lisa: C3, D3, G#3, G#4, A4, Eb5, F5, F#5, G#5 | E5, G5, A5, C6 Whitney: C#3, F3, Bb4, B4, C5, C#5, D5, E5, G5 | F5, F#5, Bb5, B5 Tie: Eb3
Whitney Houston is the best singer ever. No one can beat her!!! Fact. Whitney is special not only because of her voice. Whitney Houston was beautiful, charismatic, lovable, classy, woman. Even Mariah can't beat Whitney but i do love Mariah songs.❤
I get so tirrreed of these vocal comparisons to Whitney, Celine, and Mariah. Each one has something special, and that's what makes them stand out from one another. I've always been the biggest Whitney fan, so i'm gonna leave it there.
Amazing, amazing video, and of course, with amazing, virtuosic vocals. It's going to take me some time to watch this video, but my guess is that it will be a tie when all said and done.
Lower Register went to Lisa. Midbelts are Whitney. Upper Register is different. Lisa has more ease but Whitney has a bigger sound up there but overall it's Lisa. Head Voice is a tie. Whitney has a fuller quality but Lisa's range and ease is exquisite. Having said that in terms of ability and vocalizing they are matched evenly. However we haven't seen enough of Lisa for me to call her an equal of Whitneys, so overall I'm giving it to "The Voice" :) awesome job Romulo!
Lisa can hit some badass notes, but the greatness of whitney's voice is unparalleled..i am changing (live in new york) is like the ULTIMATE vocal showcase in the history of popular singing.whitney's 1986 voice is something no other female can fuck with past or present. you were kind to lisa by not putting to many of whitney's 1986 vocals lol great video though
Tbh I'm a fan of Houston but even I must admit that Lisa was the better vocalist/singer She can do more with her voice and her song choices were much better than whitney who became very commercial. Lisa is also more soulful than whitney, she know when to hold back (sometimes WH would overdo it). Having said that, I don't think Lisa's overall sound is particularly interesting. That's what drew me to whitney in the first place- her tonal quality captivated me. I remember trying to sound like WH not necessarily sing like her, if that makes sense. She had one of the best tones I ever heard
I'd say Lisa has more elasticity to her voice. Her range is wider, but that's it. Although Lisa's debut album was great, that was pretty much the first and only studio album she has released. On the musical aspect, I disagree Lisa's more soulful. Actually, Whitney's more grounded in her Gospel roots and her musicality was top notch. I'd say they are pretty much on the same level, vocal wise, but Whitney's the bigger force of nature.
SKMRify The ask Lisa Fischer to sing I will always love you or greatest love of all or where do broken hearts go or maybe Greatest love of all at Wembley London Arena. Because nobody! I MEAN NOBODY! Can do those songs justice or as justice like good old whitney and especially not Lisa! Whitney is the voice and always will be!!
We can always argue that there are a lot of people who can match range and surpass Whitney. But we love her voice more because she became the Benchmark. Lisa is a force with the same power, almost the same fullness on higher registers and has more vocal ability. But Whitney stands out cuz her tone, vibrato and head voice sound is just chilling. And she has an amazing ability to reinterpret and make songs better. Love them both. Lisa has more technical vocal ability. Mariah has that over Whitney too. But Whitney just sounds good w/ half that. She doesn’t need much with the sound like that
Lisa Fischer is the better vocalist. I like Whitney Houston's voice more tho. Lisa wins lows, upper belts and technically the head voice as well (I can't believe I said that but her head voice is better technically). They're pretty much tied on mid belts. Whitney just produced more power.
Having said that, Lisa is AMAZING. She should have made another album and done more. Her Abilities as a vocalist definitely match Whitney and Mariah but we never got to see her use them more.
+THE VOICE When Whitney can slide from an upper belt into the upper sixth octave (with whistle register) seamlessly then you can compare her to Lisa. This will NEVER happen so you can leave. What does Mariah have to do with this? You're so bitter lmao.
Never Not Inspired What Whitney "THE VOICE" Houston could do with her voice was obviously more than enough. She didn't need all that to be remembered for having a BEAUTIFUL ICONIC VOICE. What else you got?!!! He he he he
Lies you tell.... A full lyric Soprano like (Renee Fleming, Anna Netrebko, Leontyne Price) would kindly ask you to not slander their operatic voice types please. How can you even sit here and use operatic terms to describe a POP voice? That's the first red flag and second... Whitney was (as Ms. Fischer) a Mezzo-Soprano, that had great control and agilita (since you want to add operatic terms to this discussion.) "Fearless" does NOT equate for someone's vocal ability and neither does "singing circles" around someone, those are just strawman fallacies.
That would go to Whitney hands down. Mariah has a wider range, but outside the whistle her voice isn't unique or special. Whitney had beautiful tone regardless the register.
Wider range: Lisa; Power: Whitney; Richness of timbre: Whitney; Flexibility: Both, with edge to Lisa; Head voice: Both; Resonation: Both, with edge to Whitney; Voice dynamicism: Both, with edge to Whitney.
When have I said that closing the throat doesn't cause lack of resonance? I said "it has nothing to do with resonance" because I was explaining that Whitney, Mariah and other great singers ocasionally produce that rough sound for musical effect; they control their voices to do that and not mess up with the sound, but that IS NOT part of their technique. Don't ask me to read properly if you can't do that as well. And I have watched those videos before, so keep them to yourself.
Lower register goes to Lisa, darker, fuller sound down there (but it's not like Whitney wasn't projecting either). Midbelts, duh, Whitney (but that's only because NO ONE has yet shown the same level of volume and resonance that she was able to create in the middle. Upper belts were a tie, and head voice was a glorious, dynamic, and skillful tie. Overall, incredible comparison, and incredible vocal showcase. Draw.
I really love Lisa Fischer but she just can't hang with Whitney. Lisa Fischer can blow but it's just different because Whitney has that amazing tone that well nobody can match.
Lisa has a fuller sound down in the lower register(dark too, which I like). Whitney owns the midbelts, I mean her sound in that spot is just insane, specially thjose E5's!!! As for upper belting, I see people tieing them, but even though Lisa has more ease, Whit's richness and even power is just incredible so I'ma give it to Whit. As for headvoice, both are so skillful with it, so tie. I must say that even though Lisa has a GORGEOUS sound up there, I find Whit's much more appealing. DRAW!
I love both, but I have to give it to Lisa on vocal ability . She has the high note and low notes. I think Lisa could have been bigger if she wonted too.
Sorry for the late reply. Whitney usually sings with more chest tones when she belts, but she's sang an G# in both IYBT (studio and live occasions), in a light mixed voice. She also sustained a G in 'Over The Troubled Water' with Natalie Cole, in light mixed voice.
But if Whitney's sang in light mixed voice in two known occasions and sounded connected, then it is hard to say that it was unconscious. But why am I even telling you this, if you will read and reply with another topic that is not even related? Bye.
"Because as you go higher while resonating in the mask, you begin to lose resonance" - Where is this related to souding metallic? And losing the resonance is very relative to the singer. You can't look just into a single factor when there are so many factors to be considered. Have you ever listened to Whitney's belting range? If so, where does she lose resonance exactly? Once again, how is a metallic sound equivalent as losing resonance? Hmmm
So because someone learns how to mix evenly then one will always opt to sing in even mixed voice? LOL Can't you really see how stupid is that logic? I mentioned other singers as instance for my point, leting clear that Christina was an example of someone who didn't have control over her sound production and when she "try" to sound rough she messes up with everything. But let stop from here, I will be back soon and give you something that I'm currently working on. ;)
Interesting. What is Lisa's range (how many octaves)? She reminds me of Phyllis Hyman a little bit. Oh and by the way, I prefer Whitney over EVERYONE else.
This is by far the best comparison because I've always felt like Lisa is the only one in Whitney's league at least in this generation. But for me, Whitney always edges everyone out because her transitions were effortless, even cleaner in live performances than in the studio. There is a 15 min video showcasing Whitney's operatic abilities, in live performances. Stunning. All I can say is Thank you God for both of them. I feel like it's better to just enjoy listening to them than try and determine who's better.
Sucess has nothing to do with vocal greatness.
Thank you!!
Amen to that
That’s sure the truth!
Sadly
I met Whitney twice in the mid eighties, gave her roses each time (twice) she performed at the ny state fair and saw her live eight times in concert (close up) and her voice was incredible. There isn't a general she can't and hasnt sung. From Luther to 9inch nails to Nina Simone and Dolly Parton. These two are the best to ever do it! The best! I think versatility gives Lisa a inth of an inth...ĺĺone the less
@@Parker3Curry30 I would hate to have to live on the difference. (lol) As Whitney would say, Peace.
There will never be another Anita either.
+Kymeisha Grogins She just feels like a gift from the early 70s. if that makes since lol. Lisa that is
Salute the royal funny you say that cause Lisa Fischer tied with Patti Labelle for a Grammy in the early 90s.
Who cares about who has the best vocals they are both great singers. God bless Whitneys soul and God bless Lisa's heart....
Right ☝🏾 I hate when people disrespect them
Lisa Fischer in her prime is light years ahead in vocal display and expertise compared to anyone in pop culture.

NO
Whitney was also much more versatile..
*Lisa has more vocal ability*
No.Just different instruments.
Why does there even need to be a comparison? They are both wonderful in their own rights. Next....

Whitney's voice was absolutely amazing. But after having seen them both live, Lisa was more impressive to me. She has such a vocal and musical command that is unmatched. I still love Whitney though.
It depends when you saw Whitney. 1988 to 1993 was unbelievable and Whitney was at her best.

+Dissily Mordentroge Why she is unappreciated should be obvious; she only did one album you nettie!

I love lisa but i would say it's a draw or whitney is slightly better
@@michaelb5804 Vivian Reed is better than Lisa technically...
Lisa Fischer is far more consistent in terms of vocal placement, technique and stamina. Her vocal acrobatics does not stray away from the melody and tune. She has more respect for the music/genre she sings. It’s not all about her. Her voice coexist with the lyrics and music she sings.

SaluteTheRoyalThrone & her head voice beats Whitney 😊
Devell Montell Whitney is better in everything! EVERYTHING!
SaluteTheRoyalThrone - Her upper belts are better as well.
Objectively speaking,Lisa is not better.

tone is different from ability. Lisa has def a greater vocal ability in terms of the master of vocal registers
Both are amazing and have great techniques.
Lisa seemingly sings more effortlessly and smoothly.

Whitney's examples were mostly studio recordings. Lisa was far better live.

@@kenrryfonseca729 no
@@kenrryfonseca729i think Lisa can sing higher in head voice than Whitney with comfort but that's a range thing, it doesn't prove ability, because Lisa did have a broader range.
They both have stunning voices and are great virtuosos! This is a tie!
Two vocal monsters! I wish they could have had the opportunity of sing together.
I love them both very much!

I know your speaking of vocals but it's still hard to make that choice for me the only song I'm familiar with as far as Lisa is concerned is How can I ease the pain. Whitney have better singing material. So my ears are naturally biased to Whitney!

Two Beautiful vocalist.
Lower Register: Both do have great tonal quality and resonant but I think Lisa just takes it untill they even out around Eb3
Belting: In the low/mid belts I think Whitney has a more controlled sund, her centre of pitch is perrfect. Whitneys D5 take takes the vid imo.

Whitney's voice is more powerful, with a more balanced scale and equal stage presence.

I get so tirrreed of these vocal comparisons to Whitney, Celine, and Mariah. Each one has something special, and that's what makes them stand out from one another. I've always been the biggest Whitney fan, so i'm gonna leave it there.
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY, LIKE JUST LET THEM BE GREAT ON THEIR OWN
Mariah is way better
We need comparisons so we can see who's better singer

All I learned is that both of these women are extremely beautiful and talented
Let's not forget what has not been displayed in this video. Agility goes to Whitney easily, as do dynamics.
Tbh I'm a fan of Houston but even I must admit that Lisa was the better vocalist/singer
She can do more with her voice and her song choices were much better than whitney who became very commercial.
@@RomuloVideos2 lisa didn't want that solo career, it's just wasn't what she wanted at the time.
Okay whitney’s head voice blew the whole entire ocean out of the water!!! THATS CRAZY WHAT SHE CAN DO WITH HER HEAD VOICE.!
Ask her to sing 'How Can I Ease The Pain?', then.
@@albozarth7368 so many people have covered I'll always love you and have done it justice, don't be DELUSIONAL
Whitney's head voice is overrated
We can always argue that there are a lot of people who can match range and surpass Whitney. But we love her voice more because she became the Benchmark.
Lisa is a force with the same power, almost the same fullness on higher registers and has more vocal ability. But Whitney stands out cuz her tone, vibrato and head voice sound is just chilling. And she has an amazing ability to reinterpret and make songs better. Love them both. Lisa has more technical vocal ability. Mariah has that over Whitney too. But Whitney just sounds good w/ half that. She doesn’t need much with the sound like that
they're both powerful and beastly singers but I pick Whitneysus. btw her "G5s" in LWSTD were actually G#5s
lisa is an institution of vocals . whitney a good student
😂😂😂😂
Delusional! Whitney was born to sing!
Lisa Fischer is the better vocalist. I like Whitney Houston's voice more tho.
Lisa wins lows, upper belts and technically the head voice as well (I can't believe I said that but her head voice is better technically). They're pretty much tied on mid belts. Whitney just produced more power.
Lisa Fischer is technically the best of the best.
How can I ease the pain live in japan, those super head voice notes>>>> the control,
@@codywalsh2075 Yes, Lisa is a vocal beast.
No
Having said that, Lisa is AMAZING. She should have made another album and done more. Her Abilities as a vocalist definitely match Whitney and Mariah but we never got to see her use them more.
I love my Whitney!!!
Lisa Fischer hands down. Things that woman can do with her voice no one could attempt including Whitney. No hate just simple truth.
Like what?
+Never Not Inspired You're that Mariah stan, so of course you'll say that!
Fischer) a Mezzo-Soprano, that had great control and agilita (since you want to add operatic terms to this discussion.)
"Fearless" does NOT equate for someone's vocal ability and neither does "singing circles" around someone, those are just strawman fallacies.
Whitney 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💘💝💖💗💓💞💕❣💔🧡❤💛💚💘💌💙💜🖤💟💫💫💫 The Voice ... I miss you so much .
"maintains connectivity all the way up to a G7 in head voice" - where has Whitney Houston ever sung in the 7th octave?? I'll wait..
Lisa is the only one better than Whitney and deserves more recognition watch 20 feet from stardom to find out more about Lisa Fischer a living legend
Both are GREAT
Whitney Houston ✔️
I may have to rock with Lisa but I love Whitney
@RomuloRocha When r u going to do that Lisa vs Mariah video you promised?
That would go to Whitney hands down. Mariah has a wider range, but outside the whistle her voice isn't unique or special. Whitney had beautiful tone regardless the register.
Both INCREDIBLE artists and vocal instruments. (they never performed together, so maybe that says something).
What song was 12:25 from lisa fischer. I've been looking for that song
Only just seen your question but it's here: ruclips.net/video/IFLPYp3vdAc/видео.html
Wider range: Lisa;
Power: Whitney;
Richness of timbre: Whitney;
Flexibility: Both, with edge to Lisa;
Head voice: Both;
Resonation: Both, with edge to Whitney;
Voice dynamicism: Both, with edge to Whitney.
I'm flattered. Thanks. :)
Draw.
I've completely forgotten the song at 7:03 what is it? thank you :)
Great Job at this Romulo, There pretty close :)
Lisa's vocal range (A2 - G6)
Quite biased
This is by far the best comparison because I've always felt like Lisa is the only one in Whitney's league at least in this generation. But for me, Whitney always edges everyone out because her transitions were effortless, even cleaner in live performances than in the studio. There is a 15 min video showcasing Whitney's operatic abilities, in live performances. Stunning.
All I can say is Thank you God for both of them. I feel like it's better to just enjoy listening to them than try and determine who's better.
Whitney hands down
