Most of the community doesn't think it fits in with the rest of the titles because of stupid nitpicks like a lack of day-night cycle, link's facial design, its creation of the timeline, etc. If anything, BotW fits the least into the series of all the mainline titles because of its inclusion of a vast open world, weapon condition, usage of non-sword weapons, questing system, etc.But by no means did that stop the game from getting the most praise of any title since OoT. SS is simply the Nickelback of the Zelda series. People love to hate it for dumb reasons even tho it's really pretty good overall
I agree, except I'd probably rate it higher than you. It went in the opposite direction to what most fans wanted at the time (which was basically BotW) but an open-world Zelda wouldn't have been remotely possible on the Wii, and Skyward Sword pulled off what it was actually trying to do expertly, except for the annoying hand-holding. While I love BotW's open world, I also love Skyward Sword's linear world because it offers the most tightly designed dungeon-style gameplay (even outside of dungeons) in the series. By the way, people always say Nintendo suddenly created the Zelda timeline in 2011 after never caring about it previously, but that's completely untrue. There were so many developer quotes, as well as clues in the games themselves, that showed they were always aware of at least the general structure of the timeline. I'd say they came up with the "Decline Timeline" idea a good many years before they revealed it.
@@murdokdracul Yeah i totally agree. It's definitely in my top 10, maybe even 5, and yeah for what they could do on the wiis hardware they really threw in the whole pantry. Even though i do really BotW, when i think back to what the game represents, its just this huge turning point for the series as a whole and i hope after BotW2 is over with that they go back to the traditional zelda style with linear stories, minimal side questing, and our wholesome, expressive, sword weilding hero in green clad. People will say that nintendo cant do that because it will seem "boring" and "basic" in comparison. I beg very dearly to differ. The zelda format is what REALLY drew me into the series, had it been like BotW, i can't really say the same. As for the timeline, yeah of course it was an idea for quite some time, even as far back as OoT and possibly sooner, but OoT at the latest. People should chill with the idea that there was never a general direction nintendo wanted to head in. Clearly they didn't think it 100% through, since they are even now changing the orientation of it, but it they obviously had a direction before it was officially announced. People just come up with reasons to complain about stuff that is unnecessary to complain about
I think the only flaw is the rather... flawed story. Everythong else seems to play perfectly. Sure it's painfully linear, but the idea of each area being like a temple in and of itself, requiring puzzles and quick thinking to open up the locations more and more is one of the many things I love about Skyward Sword. That, and the temples themselves.
Do you know what the hardest side quest is in Skyward Sword? The freaking Lumpy Pumpkin harp thingy where you have to play with Kina. I swear, they're never satisfied with your work. I've never won that side quest.
I was really surprised that this one wasnt in here - the rare red loftwing that belongs to link is the origin of the red bird on the hylian shield. It's a really easy one to miss, but always present.
I'll always love being able to distract Ganondorf with the fishing rod in Twilight Princess and Demise with the bug net in Skyward Sword. There's just something about how anticlimactic they are that make them hilarious.
it is hilarious but of course it would be a distraction! who would expect their opponent to pull out a bug net in the middle of the confrontation? i dont blame demise here 😂

Another easter egg, I think that when Link kill Demise with the master sword, its like one of the medaillon of a Link to the past (the jump, sword in the sky, lightning hiting it and slashing in the ground)!
I mean to be fair If you were a god of destruction, or the incarnation thereof, and the incarnation of Link comes to fight you, and pulls out a bug net, while keeping the same confident grin as when he wields his sword, you'd be confused too
Thank you Zeltik, this is my favorite game and your the only big Zelda channel that doesn't bash it. You did miss a pretty big Easter egg though. Both the characters of Parella and Yerbal say the infamous "It's a secret to everyone" line.
That rendition of Ganon's theme during Demise's monologue is probably one of my mos favorite parts of Skyward Sword, it gives me the chills EVERY TIME AUGH, SOOOoooo EPIC AAAAAAAAaaaHHHhhh
Battlefield of Demise sounds specifically like the music from the very beginning to alttp (which I admittedly never realized is a variation of Ganon’s theme)
Daniel Thrash if we wanna get technical I’d personally call it a variation of Aghanim’s theme (which would be repurposed into Ganon’s theme for OoT and beyond)
"battlefield of demise" (the song with the ganondorf theme nod) is one of my favorite tracks in the entire franchise, and ss is my favorite game in the franchise
Dude, I didn't know you could reflect Demise's lightning beams with the bugnet! I only knew he wouldn't attack me while I was swinging it infront of his nose XD And I completed SS 100% and watched countless videos on it! Man, the bugnet really makes the final battle easy if you can just wait for Demise sawinging his lightning beam at you and bouncing it back at him with the net
if i knew you could use the bug net to reflect demise's skyward strikes, i would've prob beat him by now, i raged at the boss fight but i never knew of this, so if i find my nunchuck and wii motion plus + remote, i'll defiantly give it a try XD

The harp playing mini-game is haunting my nightmares to this day. I remember having a friend over, a really talented singer and musician with a great sense of rhythm and even she took like 45 minutes to finally manage to get this done. These Easter eggs and references are clear examples of the developers’ love for the Zelda series. I think one of the reasons the Zelda series is so great is because they’re developed by people who love the series.
Ooooi that lumly pumpkin easter egg has me shook!! I thought I recognized the people, or at most thought they looked familiar (since TP was my first Zelda game) and that's so cool they're a reference to the Resistance! Nice one! ~nya
The first time (game release wise) we hear what we now call Gabon’s theme was when you first enter the pyramid in the Dark World to fight Ganon in LttP. The theme plays during the brief dialog.
Battlefield of Demise is also Ganondorfs Theme, which is also the music that you hear at the beginning of Link To The Past when you step out of the house to go find the guy with the sword and shield
my dude your videos have been getting me thorough this whole corona thing, ive watched all of your videos and they have all got me thinking about how all of them are connected. Thank you for giving us this amazing content, keep it coming my guy!!
One musical easter egg from skyward sword that was missed was the Ballad of the Goddess, which if you reverse it is Zelda's lullaby! You can look up backwards ballad of the goddess and listen to it, it's quite amazing!
Zeltik, you deserve so much credit. I’m a huge Zelda fan but you manage to link (no pun intended!) so many themes together it just blows my mind... keep up the good work my man. Love how deep and thought provoking your videos are! Your narrative and tone is also on point 👌
The hand in the toilet from Oracle of Ages! That brought me such joy, although in SS you don't get to give it to someone to get their sense of smell back.
Not sure if somebody else has mentioned this yet, but the last character who hangs out at the Lumpy Pumpkin is Stritch, at least until he moves to Bug Island later in the game. Stritch is there to reference Rusl, the final resistance member, as they both have blonde hair in a bowl cut.
Ganondorfs theme also has a resemblance to the song at the start of a link to the past where link wakes up in the night and goes to find his uncle. I actually thought of this first when hearing the ganondorf theme reference in skyward sword.
I know I'm a little late to the party but as far as Demise/Ganondorf's theme, there's actually an even earlier instance of that tune being used: Time of Falling Rain in LTTP
Though I get where you were coming from with the Organs for Demise, I would have also mentioned the song itself is a nod to Ganons theme in lttp. Nice finds! Definitely missed some.
When you were talking about four note song being played in the moments leading up to the battle with Demise, my mind didn't immediately go to Ganondorf's theme, but instead went to the opening theme from A Link to the Past, and subsequently the song you hear after you awaken at the start of the game (I believe the song is called The Time of Falling Rain). It's really neat to see how far back some of these things go.

I agree. It’s in my top 3 Zelda games. (I’ve only played a couple but still it’s in the top 3)
People just come up with reasons to complain about stuff that is unnecessary to complain about
Skyward Word is my #1 Zelda game
I think the only flaw is the rather... flawed story. Everythong else seems to play perfectly. Sure it's painfully linear, but the idea of each area being like a temple in and of itself, requiring puzzles and quick thinking to open up the locations more and more is one of the many things I love about Skyward Sword. That, and the temples themselves.
The bamboo island theme was one of the best songs from Skyward Sword and it was pushed deep into my mind because of how long ago I played it
Oh, I am so going to try that bugnet on Demise the next time I get to him. Good thing I'm currently playing Skyward Sword again anyway.
The Demise music also sounds like the beginning of the song of storms, which is fitting as he turned the sky stormy!
Do you know what the hardest side quest is in Skyward Sword? The freaking Lumpy Pumpkin harp thingy where you have to play with Kina. I swear, they're never satisfied with your work. I've never won that side quest.
holy crap, you can reflect Demise's lightning attack with your bug net??!!
You learn something new every Zeltik video, keep it up, Zeltik!
What do you call Hyrule's shortest villan?
Ganon-dwarf!
Ha ha ha ha (Tidus fake laugh sound)
I was really surprised that this one wasnt in here - the rare red loftwing that belongs to link is the origin of the red bird on the hylian shield. It's a really easy one to miss, but always present.
I'll always love being able to distract Ganondorf with the fishing rod in Twilight Princess and Demise with the bug net in Skyward Sword.
There's just something about how anticlimactic they are that make them hilarious.
Giriham’s theme is the best boss theme imo. The soundtrack for SS is absolutely gorgeous
What a nice coincidence, I just dusted off and set up my Wii U this morning in order to revisit this game for the first time in many years :D
it is hilarious but of course it would be a distraction! who would expect their opponent to pull out a bug net in the middle of the confrontation? i dont blame demise here 😂
This came out when I was a kid and it was my first Zelda game ever, it holds a special place in my heart :)
It's a shame that your first Zelda was such a cheap game.
@@literallyanangrymoose7717 It isn't cheap, it is priceless because of all the fun me and my younger sibling had while playing it as kids, I hope one day you realize that being miserable online won't make you feel better ❤️
@@Alexis-xp1gb im pretty sure it was my first one as well, and while it isnt my favorite anymore I still really love it. I dont get why people act like its some terrible broken game when literally the only issue with it was the motion controls
@@dubiousdeliquite6641 yeah I totally agree, it really was only the motion controls that were the issue
I knew about distracting Demise with the bug net, but I didn't know it could reflect the sword beams! That's hilarious
Another easter egg, I think that when Link kill Demise with the master sword, its like one of the medaillon of a Link to the past (the jump, sword in the sky, lightning hiting it and slashing in the ground)!
I didn’t know you could bounce back Demise’s beams with the bug net. I’ll have to try that sometime.
Ganon distracted by the rod has me ROLLING 🤣😭🤣😭🤣
My favorite reference is ??? from Majora's Mask, the hand coming out of the toilet. That one always manages to crack me up 😂
I always thought the LD part of the serial code number stood for Lightning Dragon but I guess Lanayru Dessert is plausible too.
That could work and I always thought that the 16 was a reference to the adult like being 16 in ocarina of time
I mean to be fair
If you were a god of destruction, or the incarnation thereof, and the incarnation of Link comes to fight you, and pulls out a bug net, while keeping the same confident grin as when he wields his sword, you'd be confused too
Starts watching Chuggaaconroys Lp of Skyward sword
RUclips: we recommend this
The merchant who sells shields in the bazaar is actually a reference to The Happy Mask Salesman. Down to his actions and grin.
Thank you Zeltik, this is my favorite game and your the only big Zelda channel that doesn't bash it. You did miss a pretty big Easter egg though. Both the characters of Parella and Yerbal say the infamous "It's a secret to everyone" line.
So you mean next year is not just the 35th Anniversary Of Zelda but also the 10th anniversary of Skyward Sword....man time flies
Also marking 10 years of me involved with zelda
I thought the sound from the moblin horns at the end of Skyward Sword sounded like King Bulblin blowing the horn in Twilight Princess
Not ashamed to admit this is my favorite zelda game
I've still not finished this..... I'm currently replaying some "older" zelda games. First the wind waker trilogy. Then Twilight, then SS
Your a god for playing through the Wildwater "trilogy" i love WW but god I don't get along with PH and ST. A link between worlds is the best 2D zelda they have made since ALTTP imo. What other 3d zelda have you not played?
@@canisdivinus6218 I kinda love Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks to be honest
I'm playing SS right now, for the second time, and I'm surprised to realize that it's one of my favourites! Playing it for the second time, after playing through most of the Zelda library, SS really stands out to me and I'm kind of sad about some of the hate it gets. I recommend using a video guide if you get panicked in the silent realms like I do!
Lol you’re more efficient than me I’m trying to play skyward sword and windwaker on and off at the same time
@@canisdivinus6218 Spirit tracks was my very first zelda game. It actually has a very nice soundtrack! Just saying overworld and staircase in the tower
I mean yeah... If I were Ganondorf I too would be distracted by a fishing hook. Nothing makes me shrivel up and cringe more than the idea of a fish hook getting caught on my skin... Those things are sharp and literally designed to be hard to pull out, that would be painful man!
The harp playing mini-game is haunting my nightmares to this day. I remember having a friend over, a really talented singer and musician with a great sense of rhythm and even she took like 45 minutes to finally manage to get this done. I love Skyward Sword's story and atmosphere but that darn motion control made me never go back to the game again. Be that as it may, this was a great video - as always - with stuff I had absolutely no idea of like the Tingle Doll.
Who would win?
Evil incarnate with a demonic, sentient blade capable of summoning Lightning at a mere swing
Or
One catchy boi
LEL - Noble of Lost Pause.
I adore this series. Every game feels SO different, but there are references, themes, and iconography that connect them into one cohesive journey.
Awesome video Zeltik!
Skyward Sword is my favourite Zelda ever, always in my heart!
Me too. I have many memories with it
same here, but mainly thanks to Master Mode
what if demise’s consciousness escaped the master sword when it was damaged in botw and that’s why Fi could speak to Zelda
I think that link dies Demise comes back (due to the damaged sword) and Zelda has to team up with Ganondorf to fight demise.
@@FierceDeity35 That's just stupid.
@@manueljaramillo2520 to be honest that would seem weird since Ganondorf was created because of the curse of Demise. I just think Botw 2 will be with Ganon as a final boss...
@@manueljaramillo2520 Do you understand that it's a joke, right?
I don’t think they would do this BUT it would be cool
I just completed hero mode on this game 2 days ago for the first time even though I've had this game since it came out, thank you for making this video, it just makes me love this game even more
3:40 I love how the contrast between their personalities is visible in a single screenshot
Nice one! ~nya
Oh yeah, thank you! .Finally, my favorite game on the saga got justice :)
Thank you I've been waiting years for a video like this!
Despite what some or most people say, Skyward Sword was an amazing game probably in my top 3 or 5
☁️💙Yay so happy to see Skyward Sword being talked about.🦅☁️
Zeltik, you deserve so much credit.
I could help but notice that after playing the HD Remake that the song of the water dragon sounds like kokiri village in Breath of the wild.
Seeing a Zeltik video about Skyward Sword in my feed made my day so much better
Not sure if somebody else has mentioned this yet, but the last character who hangs out at the Lumpy Pumpkin is Stritch, at least until he moves to Bug Island later in the game. Stritch is there to reference Rusl, the final resistance member, as they both have blonde hair in a bowl cut.
I remember first playing this game in 2011. Most of these flew over my head back then
Demise: you cannot defeat me, foolish mortal-
Link: (pulls out bug net)
Demise: ...
Demise: that’s... that’s an interesting net there, buddy...
Skyward sword was the first ever video game I’ve ever played it’s also my favorite I’m replaying it right now
Ganondorfs theme also has a resemblance to the song at the start of a link to the past where link wakes up in the night and goes to find his uncle.
I am going to be in this corner waiting for a remaster
your presentation, editing and dialogue in your vids are so easy and good to listen to/ watch. Incredible stuff Zeltik!
Music and Zelda go hand-in-hand.
I also noticed that the sound of the flute and bokoblin horn had also sounded similar to King Bulblin's horn in the beginning of Twilight Princess.
Surely the net reflecting the beams is more a reference to the bug net reflecting Agahnim's beams in A Link to the Past?
