- I am getting a little tired of these ring and ribbon pours and I don't want to bore YOU, so this will be the last one of it's kind for a while. Paints used: Artist's Loft white, Master's Touch Violet mixed with Napthol Carmine, Violet, Magenta and Cad Orange.
All paints were mixed with the following Pouring Medium (one part paint to three parts medium, plus a bit of water to thin. The white was mixed 1:1.5)
Pouring Medium (Dan Hodges' Recipe):
3 Parts Floetrol
3 Parts Minwax Polycrylic
2 Parts Glue/Water Mix (3:1)

Can I say that you are only one of a few artists I follow who, when making sweeping (from end to end), actually start the ribbons, dots, etc before they get on the canvas and continue until they get off the canvas. 👍🏻. Vibrant! I love the drizzled ribbons, reminds me a little of Spirograph from my youth, (I think that was the name), I loved it! This even has the 70s colors. It is a “happy” piece! 🤗

Hi Chris I just wanted to tell you I watched your ribbon videos last night and really enjoyed them so I attempted my first one today. Everything was going well until I dumped a cup of water all over my painting 😡! I would attach a photo if I could but I don't seem to be able to attach a photo in these comments.

I want to start pour painting and watching a ton of videos. You are not using a torch when a lot of people do. Do you let the air bubbles pop by themselves? Also you don't put a base color but pour directly on canvas. So many different techniques out there! I love your work and can not wait to try.
Thank you, Josee! I do have a torch I use occasionally, but usually only when I've used silicone, to help cells come to the surface. I never put down a base coat (except for a swipe or Dutch, of course) but will add paint around the edges before tilting, once in a while. Have fun with it!
I love your style the ribbons are my thing thank u i needed some inspiration this has helped me get back to painting what does the minwax do to your paint
It just helps with the body of the pouring medium and with the composition in place, in my opinion. I made a video on how to mix that will be uploading later today. 😊

I love how this turned out. The colours are amazing. I am so glad I found you doing this. Just before I found your video I had wondered what adding some tiny ribbons to pieces after would look like. Thanks so much for sharing I don’t think it’s too much remember many people will love some things you aren’t crazy about. Just curious when you added the white to get more contrast why not just use the white by itself?

You went overboard because you never liked the original composition...so you were "fixing" not embellishing. Still quite interesting 🤔 But your heart wasn't in it very early on.
I think you are correct! I'm not a fan of pink, and it really took over.
