By the way, my home State of Western Australia’s colours are black and gold. South Australia are red and black. I think Victoria is dark blue while New South Wales is light blue, I’m not fairly sure. The stripes in the dark green reminds me of Malachite! The color combo is beautiful. I have some new pearl Arteza, particularly Cactus and Pistachio. Will have to try your technique.

Love it. These ring pours with ribbons are my favorites! You mention another channel (sophisticated artisan) as a place where there are good color combos. Are you familiar with Rinske Douna? She does mostly dutch pours but she has a real sense for color too. I don't seem to know how to layer them, often get mud or other colors I wasn't looking for. And that is even when I copy the order seen in others' videos....

@@stephie4ever no but decoart you can purchase at craft stores in Canada like Michaels some dollar stores has it as well. Just depends on the colours you are looking for. The bigger jars of the decoart Americana can be found at home depot.
That was the hope when the recipe was developed, but it dries without a shine, though smooth as silk. You still need to varnish when using this pouring medium. Good question!
Hi Chris, I love your work and the ribbon technique is fascinating. I have noticed that you don't seem to pour a base on your canvas before your pour, is that because of type of canvas you use? when I have tried a pour without a base the paint doesn't seems to not roll smoothly and i seem to loose colors i want to keep. Any advice please. Thanks Chris
I rarely put a base coat down...I just don't see the need for it if I have mixed enough paint. If I run short, I might add a "flow extender" around what I've poured to help reach the edges. I've also started lightly sanding my canvases so they are smoother before a pour. Hope that helps!

Thank you Lem! I've not tried it on wood, but as long as you seal the wood with something like Varathane's Sanding Sealer (to prevent warping), I think it would work fine. Maybe a coat of gesso after sealing, just to be extra sure.
That means you add 2 parts of a glue/water mix (which is 75%glue/25%water) to 3 parts of Floetrol and 3 part Polycrylic. Does that help?? I made a video detailing it which you may find helpful, video #76. 😘
I love this even though green isn’t my favorite, composition is gorgeous. Since you use polycyclic in your pour mix do you have to clean your canvases?
I have not found any frames for round canvasses, but I've thought about asking my husband to cut a wooden circle about an inch or two larger than the canvas, then mount it on there, but he would have to give up a day of golf to do it, so...not likely! LOL!

Thanks, Patricia! There's no residue from the polycrylic... dries smooth as silk. It's still necessary to varnish, though.
