Thank you so much, Chris, for making this very informative video and sharing it with us. You have such a beautiful spirit that comes across in all of your videos and artwork. I appreciate your willingness to share from your experiences and to teach others. You are simply the best!
After watching your newest ribbon pour, I came back to watch this. Thank you for sharing Mr. Hodges’ recipe. I’m going to try a ribbon pour. I hope it comes out as pretty as yours. ❤️
I'm so happy I found you Chris, thank you so much for making this information available, you're very much appreciated and your work is fantastic, just lovely!
Chris thank you for so generously sharing such a wealth of information in a calm way ... I love your energy. As a newbie to pouring it’s easy to get lost and overwhelmed in all the information but the way you share suits me to a ‘T’. I’m inspired and excited - and like so many, appreciate your willingness and graciousness to share. Blessings from Australia 🤗🙏🏻💝🌈💐
Thank you Chris!!! I have never done ribbon pours before...and saw the link to this video from your valentine video. Your instructions are so clear ty! I am going to attempt this tomorrow morning as I love how clear and sharp your ribbons are! I so appreciate your ability and willingness to share ty ty ty!
Thank you, Chris, for sharing this recipe with us. I’m really excited to try it! You’re so helpful and easy to listen to. Here’s to your ribbon pours!!🍷🥃🍺☕️🥛🍸 Be well.❤️
If it ain't broke, don't fix it! 🌹🌹 Great to hear it's the water base Polycrylic, I wasnt going to try this thinking that it was the varnish based one! Yahoo! Will e mail you tomorrow about the painting.
That is so cute! As an actress I learned to do accents...when I visit my sister I read aloud using different voices for each character. We read a couple of books per visit! Funny thing is, I've always disliked the sound of my normal voice!! LOL!
@@ChrisJeszeck you're an actress?! Oh my god, you just get better and better! You need to do a vlog to tell us all about you and your life. I REALLY enjoyed your video at the gallery so we need to see more of you! ❤
I'm really not that interesting, but thank you! I was a big fish in a small pond of community theater for over 25 years; got to play some great roles (drama, comedy, musicals), direct some great shows and paint a lot of sets (not so fun). I much prefer being anonymous and sharing my art this way! Thank you for your enthusiasm, Nicky! 😘
Thanks so very much for sharing this it's greatly appreciated and I know don't you hate when you find a color you absolutely love then they stop making it so you have to go out and find something similar but when you use it it just never looks the same
Thank you Chris, I started painting only 2 months ago and have checked out LOTS of videos and find you and Mollys artistry the best. I have been having problems with the pouring mix and paint ratios , lots,as you say, just eyeball it, not good, so i am going to do your mix as i like your clear lines. Thankyou love listening to your lovely calm voice as you paint.
Chris, sooo helpful thank you. I can’t wait to give this mix a try. I might just have to purchase a scale. I usually just go by eyeball and feel. ❤️, Pam
Hi Chris thank you for your videos. I've heard something about the polucriylic cracking and the glue turning yellow and not being archival... have you heard anything about this? Thx
Well, I've been using glue in many of my mixes for over 3 years without any issues...I think if they're well sealed there shouldn't be a problem. I've only been using the Polycrylic a year, without a problem so far. But hey, it's an experimental art form...I don't expect it to last through the ages! 😊
Thank you so much for this information. I am just starting trying to do these styles of paintings and they were coming out real bad. I will try this now. Thank you
Thank you so much Chris for sharing this recipe. I tried a version of it w artist's loft pouring medium (in place of the glue) - the colours were brilliant 😁 but I did find I had a lot of air bubbles even though I mixed my paints a day before. So next time I will stick to your recipe exactly and try again. 😁
Hi Michele...for Masters Touch I mix 2.5 PM to 1 paint plus a bit of water. I can't tell you the others, but if you mix MT to that consistency you'll know what it should be for the others. 😊
Thank you so much Chris. I tried the technique today and I love the ribbons but not so crazy about the rings. I’m going to keep experimenting with it. Thank you so much for your videos. You are a very talented artist.
Hi Chris, I adore yours ring and ribbon works 😍 Thank you for this recepee 🙏🏻 I have a question…I’m living in Switzerland and there isn’t any Flood and Minvax here… By what I could replace them please? I have Floetrol Owatrol instead of Flood…but what about Minvax Polycrylic? Could I replace it by anorher top coat? I would like so much try your technique 🥰 What can I do? Thanks a lot. Great job! 🌹
Hi there! I'm not entirely sure, but I think Owatrol is thicker than Floetrol so you just need to thin with water a bit to replace Floetrol. Minwax polycrylic is just a clear, water based topcoat for wood, so I'm sure you could ask someone at a hardware store for a product like that. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Thank you for this mix, I'd love to try it. How do you make sure it's not settled in the large jug? Do you just gently shake it or roll it around each time you use it? And then you must have to leave your paints to set overnite after mixing. Polycrylic would have lots of bubbles and you can't torch it. Has that ever been a problem for you?
I do give it a gentle rolling shake after it's sat around. I generally mix my paints fresh just before pouring, without issue, but if time allows ( and I think of it), it's good to mix the night before. 😉
That was so helpful. Thank you. Love your work. I haven’t done a ribbon pout yet. I use a lot of craft paints 2oz. Bottles. Do I do the same proportions with that paint.? Ty for your help.
Hi Tamera! Craft paints are already pretty liquid, so I'd start with less PM, maybe half the amount of PM as paint? You can slowly add more PM until you get a good consistency...remember you want it on the thick side for ring or ribbon pours. Thanks for watching!
Hello, how much glue did you put in the smaller container? I have one of those from the dollar tree. I see you stated how many ounces you put in the bigger jug with the markings on it but was wondering how you mixed the glue and water
Sorry, Kathy...I'm behind in my replies. I bought it at Walmart...I can't remember if it was Rubbermaid or their cheaper version. It was only about $3.
Minwax is the brand, but it's a water based polyurethane used for protecting wood...maybe if you ask the paint store for something that does that? The important thing is that its water based. Good luck!
Is this the right Miniwax Polycrylic: Minwax 622224444 Polycrylic Protective Finish, 1 quart, Matte or is it suppose to be a gloss finish. I got so many options when I searched for it. Want to make sure before I buy. Thank you!
Hi Denise...I've used both matte and clear gloss, but I usually buy the clear gloss. The important thing is that it's water based. Everything you wrote there is correct, except I don't know what that number is. My current can says "Minwax Water Based Polycrylic Protective Finish, Crystal Clear Finish, Clear Gloss". Hope that helps! I buy it at Walmart.
I mix up a big batch in that other pitcher and fill to the line, but if you only make 16 oz at a time, it would be 12 oz glue, 4 oz water (that equals 3 to 1). 😊
Thank you so much, Chris, for making this very informative video and sharing it with us. You have such a beautiful spirit that comes across in all of your videos and artwork. I appreciate your willingness to share from your experiences and to teach others. You are simply the best!

I love your ribbon pour videos. I can't wait to watch your other techniques! What do you use to varnish/topcoat your paintings? Ty in advance!
I tell in this video that I use Liquitex gloss varnish, watered down. 😉

Hello, how much glue did you put in the smaller container? I have one of those from the dollar tree. I see you stated how many ounces you put in the bigger jug with the markings on it but was wondering how you mixed the glue and water
It's three parts glue to one part water, so in that container, it's 1.5 cups glue and .5 water (there are lines on the container). 😊
TY Chris can you share a link where we can buy that plastic jug?
Sorry, Kathy...I'm behind in my replies. I bought it at Walmart...I can't remember if it was Rubbermaid or their cheaper version. It was only about $3.
