    Avatar The Last Airbender... One of the greatest shows of all time. How did Netflix go in adapting it? Well as the title suggests I am not a fan however, there is more to this than meets the eye. Aang and the gang have more to them than the first few eps give off. And while I hated the beginning. The ending of ATLA Showed a lot of promise.

    The worse part is we are getting a season 2 of avatar last Airbender live action which I will never understand why because this adaptation makes no sense to me in my opinion.

      The ending of this season at least gives me a little hope for the future. Yet with the first seasons pacing. I don't see a single storyline being able to really just breathe properly. I hope I just hope they do Toph justice. Though the paramount stuff at least looks and sounds awesome.

    I really didn't like some the changes they made to the characters. Like you mentioned with Katara. I also thought they butchered Sokka. I understand they have to cut a lot to fit it into the timeframe. But if you can't write compelling character arcs, what's the point of making the show. I also thought the pacing of most of the episodes sucked

      Thank you for checking this out mate. (it's been so long. Hope you are well) Avatar means just so much to so many people. I feel like you nailed the point of "What's the point of making the show" if you arent gonna write compelling character arcs. Its like back in the day when Iphone games used to have "Lite" version of them that was like 1/3 of the normal game. Like spongebob diner dash. Netflix Avatar feels like Avatar Lite.

    the fact that they made Azula fire not blue just makes no sense and take a lot of the personality out of the character are just weird choices like some things in this story felt change just to have change and not to make it better

    • @DareToEntertain
      @DareToEntertain  2 месяца назад

      See I don't really care for any of the Azula changes because I just see her as before we get to see her in book 2. I imagine her refinement and blue fire will come. Is it better than that animated show? Absolutely not. Not even close. It's just considering there are some writing decisions that you learn while in Primary school not to do. Smaller issues like that just don't phase me. More frustrated that the entire show treats us like we are 4 or 5 years old honestly.

    I'm surprised you glanced over how they treated Suki in episode 2. Yeah, she is hot, but they removed her character. From what was her challenging Sokka's view of women, proving him wrong, and then working with him to help him grow, he became the male savior that "showed her the world" and had her simp hard over him. By removing his brief stint of sexism, not only did they remove Sokka's chance to grow as a character, but they ironically made the show more sexist by reducing Suki's role to just a woman fawning over a man.
    Finally, it bothers me alot where when Zuko asks "you've found a master, haven't you?", Katara replies "you're looking at her". Which is stupid, as it reeks of the Mulan remake, in other words, western ideals of "self made man" vs the eastern ideals of "learning from elders/teachers". The whole thing about Avatar is that he has to *learn* the elements. The weight of the importance of learning and masters is evident as it draws from eastern philosophy. However, I suppose if Katara had to actually be taught her skills, instead of almost instantly becoming a master by herself, it would detract from Hollywood's "strong woman don't need no man" messaging. In the original, Katara *was* a strong woman, but that didn't mean she didn't still need a teacher.

      Everything you commented is absolutely correct. I made a few passing comments on it but I felt if i were to fully dive into each aspect the videos length would balloon out. Overall I don't mind suki. If I grilled episode 2 and 3 as hard as I did one I think this video could have easily been 90min lol. And yeah getting into the weeds fully about Katara's arc just gets me mad.

      @@DareToEntertain I wish you the best. There are so many youtubers covering anime now, yet each have their own perspective but more importantly format to bring to the table. It's about finding your niche. And, while I have your attention, I'd love to suggest "Everything Becomes F: The Perfect Insider" (the whole story finishes in 12 episodes). Only because when it comes to anime, people always suggest the same shows over and over. They are good shows, but it means a lot of ones get overlooked. I have, at this point, watched 499 anime (I keep track), and in terms of mystery, it's one of the best. It's actually based on a Japanese mystery novel written in 1996. I don't think it would be worth making a video about it, since people don't care about things that aren't popular, but just as one anime fan to another, it's worth a watch on your own time.

      Wow thank you for something really out there as a recommendation. I have just asked the discord if anyone has seen it before. Ill try get to it soon. A 12 episode show is something that is very easy to smash out quickly. Eventually I would love to be able to cover ANY anime and almost forge an audience that will watch that type of content. In due time.
