What genius decided beige was a good color for the level reading area? A good aftermarket dipstick is easy to read, no lessons required. I have four Minis and one that I just bought has that cheesy dipstick in it, it's getting replaced.
This design is awful. It took me years to finally learn how to read the level just last year. On top of that, these minis burn so much oil the dip stick is useless lol The regular design dip stick which is a flat steel wire with two holes punched in it, is perfect.. I think they have an upgraded version for the mini if I remember correctly
@@zevisgarage Just saw it !!! It is AWESOME! Thanks so much! So helpful! When the weather is warmer I feel like I might even be able to tackle this myself possibly. Other people's videos never showed me enough to feel confident to even attempt it! You make the best videos for MINI owners!
Have the same issue, worst design I have ever seen. What I did to help is I used a file to file away one side of the red plastic so it’s smoother and you can see the oil level better. Works pretty well you could also file 2 opposite sides as well, just make sure you clean the burr’s before putting it back in
Wounder if the cooper d has the same shittty unreadable oil dip stick as the r56 s cooper s. Terrible if not the worts designed placement and how the oil dip stick was manufactured from a wound spring with a plastic cap that loves to break and your oil did stick falls down the pipe for the oil dip stick l.
just paint the tip of the dipstick white.. it will make your life so much easier.
Thanks duh I don't think many people have thought of it
what kind of paint ? heat resistant of some kind i guess ?

what do the after market ones have as a coloured tip ?

Thanks for watching!
Very helpful.
Thank you!
This video is very helpful! Any chance you could do one showing how to clean the sunroof drain plug behind the wheel... especially how to access it?
Yes can do! I’ve actually been planning on filming that one. It hopefully should be up within about 3 weeks
Took me a while but finally filmed and uploaded it 😎

@@lisaonyon7416 the only times I had to film it it was magically raining lol. Had finally got a break and made it happen!
For 10 bucks I got the "springy thing." Goes in easier, comes out easier. Easier to read...10 bucks!
They literally tried to remake the wheel on this one! wow
Thanks!!!!!

My countryman’s dipstick is notched, it helps for sure

The worst design ever
It definitely could be better, but at least we have a physical dipstick unlike 3rd gens
