I think Harry telling Albus that he wished he wasn't his son is honestly so out of character.
I thought it was a flaw in parenting but nonetheless one that does get made. Harry is jealous of albus because Albus gets to live a safer life and doesn't have to worry about being "the boy who lived" or being the boy being set up to die just to destroy Voldemort. Albus is feeling insecure and is feeling resentment because he knows he will never be as great as his father but even if he knew that he has the burden of being the son of the famous Harry Potter so Albus has unseen expectations on him whether he wants them or not. Albus just wants to have normal parents and live a normal life but he can't. Another thing Albus doesn't understand that Harry never wanted to live the famous life. So there's this huge friction of not understanding each other and that's what caused the argument. Not to mention Harry is fairly new at parenting and never had a problem child and Harry has never dealt with that before along with now he's still carrying around the burden of everything that happened in the past.
Its almost 20 years later. We dont really know his character.

I'm fairly certain the black cloud around Albus wasn't about Harry or Delphi or anyone but himself. Draco mentioned that it might just be Albus's own loneliness, pain and hatred.
You're probably right, but Harry was making it worse without knowing what he was doing or meaning to do it at all. Albus Potter felt lonely because he didn't think he could live up to his father's legacy, and Harry wrongly suspected the ridicule his son faced to be from the person who would never do that.
So, I think Harry was the cause of it but not the cloud itself. The cloud itself was almost certainly fear, stress/anxiety/depression, and loneliness. Albus Dumbledore said this in the CoG: "I know this: An Obscurus grows in the absence of love as a dark twin, an only friend," so Albus Potter may have nearly become an Obscurial if that statement holds true (and perhaps would've, had it not been for Scorpius's love/friendship). Maybe the black cloud was an Obscurus in the making?

And that is exactly why I hate this play. My biggest problem was HARRY POTTER.
Harry was so great because he never wanted the fame and wanted to be normal but here he is so strange.
And the most hurting thing is that he says to Mcgonagall that he would bring the school down with ministry power. The school he called his HOME.
And I don't think anything, ANYTHING COULD HAVE CHANGED HARRY'S LOVE FOR HOGWARTS

In the interruption of the 2nd task Harry wasn't even alive .

Realistically, they couldn't cast as many roles for the play as one would want; if you read the last couple of pages of the book, you'll find that loads of people play 2-3 roles.

So, according to this, it is Harry Potter and Harry Potter?
Uh, Scorpius is my favorite character, duh. But I also really loved Draco in this. When he said that he envied Harry, Ron, and Hermione because they liked each other and had fun, that hit me kinda hard. And how he explained how having Scorpius was the best day of his life and how much it hurt him that his wife had died... even in the alternate reality, he seemed really touched that Astoria had said that he was a good man.
I also liked Snape more in this than in the original seven. I've never liked Snape and never liked how everyone thinks he's some great hero at the end, because he was an ass anyway. But that he had stuck with Dumbledore's Army after all those years and "Tell Albus Severus that I'm proud he carries my name" redeemed him to me far more than a few memories about how he loved Lily ever did.
Scorpius is the Hermione of the Cursed Child he is the reason why Albus is alive at the end just like Hermione was the reason why Ron and Harry are alive 😂

And that is why I hate the cursed child. The characters and the story isn't original. It is basically a well written copy with new set of characters in old themes.
There is Albus who is so like Harry's character (I mean ready to help and a bit too emotional), then there is Scorpius who is basically Hermione (bullied and friendless except for Albus and so very smart)

After seeing the play the biggest issue I had was just that Scorpius should have been a Hufflepuff. He's far more loyal than he is cunning especially when in the "original" timeline.

@@chlo6734 Yes but that's not how it works. We see for example Sirius being in Gryffindor even though he comes from the black family. We see Tonks who (is a half blood okay, but her mother is a black) and still she is in Hufflepuff.
So it goes for Albus who is a comfirmed Slytherin even if both his parents are Gryffindors.
So Scorpius could be in Hufflepuff. The only reason he is in Slytherin is because Albus is there too.
Like the "Hogwarts Mystery" game where you can choose your house and Rowan your bff goes with you no matter what.
Scorpius actually is very cunning, not just intelligent, but the key difference is in how he uses that trait -- for the good of others, not just his own personal gain. He is also very ambitious, seen for example in his (adorably awkward) pursuit of Rose, his capabilities at school, and his desire to rise to his father's expectations in spite of their complicated relationship. These actions of course also reflect the traits of intelligence (Ravenclaw), courage (Gryffindor) and especially loyalty (Hufflepuff), but there is also the most important factor to consider: personal choice. Scorpius is an incredibly balanced character, and I imagine that while being Sorted, he might have had the option to choose from at least two, if not all, of the Houses. It's even possible that the Sorting Hat advised him toward a different House than the one he chose, as it did with Harry (and probably Neville too). All in all I think that Scorpius was a true Slytherin simply because he chose to be (even without knowing yet that Albus would be in the same House), and I think that Scorpius being in Slyhterin is pretty critical to the Potter universe as a whole, because his overwhelmingly good personality traits serve to reshape perceptions of Slytherin as the bad/evil House. This could very well have played another part in his choosing Slytherin, out of desire (read: ambition) to redeem the Malfoy name and legacy.
Maybe the beauty of the title is that it refers to all of them. Scorpious for being considered the son of Voldemort, Albus for his struggle with his father, Delphi for being Voldemort's daughter and Harry for fighting the ghosts of his past.

I think it would be all three, the wings represent Delphi because of the tattoo on her neck, the nest represents Scorpius as he provides his friendship as a "shelter", and the person in the middle represents Albus as he isolates himself.

My fanfic before this came out is that the'd all be sorted into Ravenclaw. However, I'm glad that Slytherin is having a chance to show that people sorted into it are all bad. In the first 7 books (and more so in the movies) anyone who was classified as Slytherin was basically being told "You're evil." Now Albus and Scorpius have a chance to prove that wrong. YAY!

I think that J.K. Rowling only meant to use the term "cursed child" as a metaphor. She never points out who, specifically, the cursed child is. This puts it up for debate. Everyone will have their own opinions and evidence to support their theories, but does that make them right? Who's wrong in this scenario? I think that most of the characters viewed themselves as cursed. Despite age or generation, in the end, they were all children carrying their own burdens.
The child on the front cover of the book isn't distinctly any one character. He/She could represent almost any of them. The child is only symbolism, because that is how Harry, Albus, Draco, Scorpius, and even Delphi have felt multiple times in their individual lives. Like a child, they are vulnerable, but they also have much room to grow. And we definitely see all of their character arcs at some point in the story. This last point is supported by the augury wings on the front cover. The augury is a bird that is supposed to herald death, but in reality only cries for rain, a common symbol used to represent life. Much like how these characters feel cursed, but grow substantially by the end of the play. The nest represents each characters' isolation in the story, but overall the entire picture does depict a snitch. An object unpredictable and hard to catch, but overall meant to be held in one's hand at the end of a game of quidditch. The characters in this story all take turns catching each other in the bonds they form through friendship. Not many of the details in Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" are so literal, but once you recognize the story's use of symbolism and metaphors, they seem a little hard not to notice.
This is so eloquently expressed! I agree that the title isn't referring to a literal curse and that it can easily represent several characters at the same time, especially because the cover is so ambiguous.

I'm not too sure. Based on Rowli g's method of creating titles, it has to be literal. All the previous titles have always referenced something or somone in particular. Usually the discovery of the importance of the reference is near the end. The first book, Harry gets the actual stone at the end of the book. He finds the chamber near the end of the book. The true nature of the prisoner is revealed to Harry at the book's end. The tampering of the goblet once again is discovered near the end. The order's important scene where they make an actual apperance as the fighting force against voldy, thus finally fulfilling the group's purpose, happens near the end. The discovery of the true nature of the prince , again at the end. The culminating use of all three of the hallows occurs at the end. It would make sense, based on her previous methods of title creation, that whatever important witnessed scene or discovery at the end of the story would be the title. Harry sees the moment in which his life is changed/ cursed. He witnesses the actual cursing of a child, admittedly himself, but a cursed child nonetheless. Just based on Rowling's record, the title would be literal.

Rachel Nott Victorie is the eldest daughter of Bill and Fleur Weasley. She was named Victorie because she was born on the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts. Check the 19 years later part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. But you are wise, because you know that George and Angelina are married--not actually a commonly known fact!

I honestly think Scourpius is a super cool mixture of Ron and Hermionie, he is not exactly a ‘Book Worm’ but manages to save Albus quite a few times...and he is also a EXTREMELY loyal friend. Most of all, just like the both of them they can go any extend to save his loved ones!
Favorite character: Scorpius Malfoy.... Though, I did enjoy the development given to his father, Draco.
Identity of the Cursed Child: Harry Potter.... Yes, I had this theory even before watching this video. Harry was also the "unseen child who murdered his father". Delphi viewed herself as Voldemort's heir, while she was really just his "spare". The prophecy was not about that hellish alternate reality, that Scorpius visited. It was to unsure that Harry would become the Chosen One/Cursed Child. Implying that his entire life was nothing more than a time paradox, created by himself.

Well I think within the context of the title the name Harry Potter refers to the version of the character that this book follows, while the name The Cursed Child refers to the version of Harry Potter when he was first cursed by Voldemort. So yes, the title does refer to the same character twice, but its referring to two very different versions of the character at two different points in the characters life.

Maybe it's a metaphor for 2 separate identities; Harry Potter as a person and Harry Potter with Voldemort issues, like children with a traumatic experience where they act like a different person to escape said trauma. And the book is him coming to reconciliation with his past.

I thought it was Scorpius because of how he was treated due to his being thought of as Voldemorts son and being a Slytherin and everything else that gave him a bad reputation. Curses arent always magical, they can be simply things that happen to us that either effect us in a large way or effect us repeatedly, and Scorpius often experiences some bad situations such as being told he has to stay away from Albus, his best friend, because he is believed to be a danger to Albus for something that was just a rumor.
I also believe that it is possible for Scorpius, Delphi, Albus, and Harry to all be The Cursed Child. All of these characters are in one way or another cursed, and those seem to be some of the highlighted details in the play

Agreed. Given that the formula for all the other book titles are "Harry Potter and [One of the Main Things the Book is About]," I'd say the Cursed Child is Albus. The villain is never in the title, so not Delphi. I don't buy that the "curse" has to be a magical one--I think it's just the common usage of the word.

I like the idea of Cedric being the cursed child... So you know how in Harry's snitch is the stone of resurrection, but we all know it doesn't really work. I think the kid, Cedric, is an embodiment of the stone, like a "once you die you can't be brought back to life" kinda thing. The wings are a representation of Delphi and the glow that is kind of around the nest is Albus and Scorpius. The nest itself represents how to Cedric's father, he will always be his baby "bird" and will forever be trapped there. Cedric was cursed when he died and he will stay cursed as a child forever.
But also I still think it is just Albus.... That was just a thought cause you easily dismissed Cedric.

It sucks, don't bother, I was rather disappointed. It's very similar to fan fiction.
I love it. Some things are pretty weird but if you are a real Harry Potter fan, it is just fun to read. (About Scorpius, Albus etc.)

I advise against reading it. It's an okay read but with the other 7 books to live up to, it came out as just a polished turd to lay on your shelf and look pretty.

I would indeed agree. If you think it's because "child" is singular that there is only one cursed child, I point you towards the philosophers STONE, singular. Harry managed to get the stone at the same time as Nicholas Flamel had it in order to make the elixir of life. Singular, but at least 2 stones.

because that sounds strange and is not very captivating. having "and" rather than "is" gives mystery to the story and draws in readers. its still doesn't make sense, but having "is" wouldn't get more readers of tickets sold.
Also, at the resolving of the climax in Godric's Hollow, there really are two Harry's referenced and present in the same scene, so the title would make more sense. Harry Potter (present day, 38(?) years old) and the Cursed Child (baby Harry, 1 year old)

Yes, Draco has always been my favorite character. Which it probably why The Half Blood Prince is my favorite out of the series since it showed some character development in Draco but this? Man they really did well on Draco's character!! They showed his pros and cons, weaknesses and strengths, his sorrow, his fatherly nature, his stuggles, heck even alittle bit of his humor. As you read you just wanted Draco to have his happy ending and man it was just a great way to show Draco even if this wasn't my favorite out of the series it was still a great way to show Draco and all of the Slytherins infact. I'm torn. The moment I found out the plot revolved around Time Turner, I knew it was going to suck so I never picked up the book. After so much work JKR put in to destroy all the Time Turners, the reintroducing it as the main plot point is highly unlike her. I immediately knew this was more like fan fiction than an actual, canonical writing by JKR.

I think that title is deceitful and the cursed child is in fact Harry. He is constantly facing his own weakness, he struggle with himself, so we can interpret this like there is two of them. One is "the hero", "the boy who lived", and the other is "cursed child".

I hated the book , i have read better fanfiction than this story. Still , there were some good things in it, and Scorpius was one of those. Clearly my favourite character so far.
But for the Delphi stuff ... I don't believe she is really Voldemort child, at least not a biological child. Voldemort never wanted to make a dinasty , he wanted the power for himself, and he wanted to be here forever to enjoy this position of power. So no need for a heir, no need to " make" a child. Maybe you could do a video about that ? Is Delphi really voldemort's child ?
