After three extreme and exciting years, Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador, extreme athlete and professional adventurer Mike Horn has successfully completed his so-called “Pole2Pole” expedition - a trip no one has dared before. The clue? Against all odds, Mike Horn was first to circumnavigate the world vertically, from Switzerland to the South Pole over to the North Pole and back home again. His companions: lots of adrenaline, one ship and two Mercedes-Benz G-Classes.
The Pole2Pole expedition took Mike Horn from Africa via Antarctica to Australia, New Zealand and the Artic. Whether in the desert of Namibia, the virgin forests of Papua New Guinea or in the tundra of Kamchatka - Mike Horn did not take it easy on the G-Class but instead pushed the four-wheel drive vehicle to its very limits. After all, even at the end of the world, driving pleasure is still important. Watch our recap video and listen to Mike Horn tell his strong story.

Mercedes-Benz when are you going to bring the basic utility G-Class to America? I wouldn’t have my Lexus GX if you had a reasonable G-Class here, a 6cyl diesel, mb Tex interior, no nav, no bling. Just a basic utility vehicle I’d pay $50,000+ for one but the current offering of over $100,000 is making me look for the grenadier.

This is due to the fact that my grand father had a 207 D Van which still runs even today despite the fact that it has accumulated millions of miles. It has been doing transportation way before I was born. Today, I am 37 and it still gets the job done ✅. I myself had a GD 290 when I was still in Africa.

Just took my G wagon camping and off roading this past weekend. When really off road the vehicle all of a sudden makes sense. It was awesome. Just wish parts for my 1993 300GD weren't so hard to find.
Philippines is actually missing off the trip. Pangea was in Subic Bay for some work, I had the privilege to go on Pangea and meet Mike himself.

One of my dreams in life is to get a G-wagon and go on an adventure by myself, and traverse all of the most beautiful and dangerous landscapes that I love. All the vehicles in the G-Class are all so cool and capable, including the ones tuned by Brabus. One day...I hope I can achieve that. Life in the city can be very obnoxious. Going away to places untouched by man...that is where the true beauty is. I want to stand atop some of the highest points I dare to travel to, take in the site and smells, and just eat a sandwich. As I stand there alone, I have achieved central purity.
I have noticed that most, if not all, of my dreams involve Mercedes-Benz. I love that. Thank you for the awesome cars, Mercedes-Benz. ❤
