I agree with your bullet journal practice. I've been keeping a series of sketchbooks while teaching myself how to sew over the past Covid time. Divided by project, written out instructions (in case the YT videos disappear), sketches of particularly weird steps, measurements, fabric choice. The only difference is the complete lack of washi tape and a page in the front reserved for a section index (because I was born in the analogue age everything reduces down to how books are formally organized). The shift is really lovely. Your smile says it all. The embroidery is perfect. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
hi sorry for the late response! how are you? I feel like I haven't seen your name around much lately! Ooh thats a good idea to plan for the disappearance of youtube, gotta admit I have not planned that far in advance 😅 i like the idea of an index, that sounds like a really nice way to organize! i also don't think far ahead enough for that, I usually just use a lot of tabs in different colors so I can figure out where everything is haha. Hope you're doing well!
@@moth.faerie Hey you! Don't worry about your response time. We chat, all is good, yes. Yeah, I haven't been feeling the social butterfly lately in the virtual. Mostly been catching up on sleep and general rest. Which means I have a bit of a back catalogue to view... (laughing). Other than that we're doing good. Lord, I hope YT doesn't disappear... I was more thinking of individual videos I can't find again because of whatever... I take the notes from the how-to's because it helps me learn (I come from the Age of Analogue, my process seems to require lots of trees). Bonus points for taking notes is making me look like I know something when I'm starting one of the Godkids on making their first projects (memory of a sieve). Yeah... organization. I don't actually plan my sketchbooks or projects. I just leave a blank page in the front and write page numbers with the project title. Looks like organization, but it's kind of not. If I'm working on something that's more long-term I'll leave a few pages at the end of the 'section' to write progress notes or whatever. I've been working on the overly complicated tool rolls for the leather tools I've found on ebay. Because sewing has taught me that the old tools are, generally, better quality than todays stuff... aaand ebay hunting is fun (the tool rolls also mean there's a cap on how much 'stuff' I can bring home). The one for the carving tools has slots for each category of tool and space for the swivel knife & stylist. The outside is a 7x10" space with Sheridan-type of flowers & a sunflower painted with ink blue & yellow with a reflective orange background for Ukraine. All the individual pieces are done, just left with glue-up and sewing.
I need to make a regency shift, but I'm feeling lazy so I might just chop the sleeves off an old 18th century one... :D (now that I think on it, I bet regency ladies did that too!)
Am I the only one who has looked longingly enough at the redthreaded website to instantly recognize one of their images? 😄 I liked the peak at your journal and your shift turned is great!
OOO I love the idea of showing your shopping friends a visual to help you shop! Thats so smart! I'm going to do this the next time I go shopping for fabrics!!! So excited! I love Mariah! Is it just me or do other people feel like sports bras came from regency short stays?.....I'm a visual person to and I loved the bullet journal! I love the sound of your table when you mark on it, it's really satisfying. Would you ever consider making a video about embroidery? Or embroidery trials? I've thought about giving hand embroidery a try but I'm not sure I have the patience or what all the steps are...It's soooo cute!!!!!!
I have one video on the embroidery I did for Alice but I don’t really do much embroidery outside of using it for specific costumes 😅 I’m honestly not very good at it haha. I do want to do some hand embroidered stays though so maybe I’ll make that two videos with one having a more embroidery focus 😊
I LOVED the bullet journal. What a great idea ! Love how the shift & the embroidery really made it special ! I agree that the satin stitch seemed more "correct" for the time period. Excellent kitty cameos !
Hi! Thanks for sharing☺️ It's so nice to see your journal. It's always interesting to have a glimpse into your thought process😊 the embroidery is very cute and I think you made the right choice with the second style. Can't wait to see your next video 😸 p.s. Baby Bat is too cute 😻
The bujo is so cute, it's really inspiring thank you for sharing. The shift turned out perfect it looks comfy and elegant. I have no idea how you find the spoons to do all that work on every single project I could never but you make me want to try. Also baby bat was so cooperative this video very cute 10/10 would pet
aw thank you! it.. is a struggle actually 😅 i sew fairly quickly thankfully so i was able to get the base shift done in an afternoon, so the bulk of the work was actually the embroidery! i've also figured out that batching projects really helps me rather than focusing on one whole project at a time, so like i did like 6 fittings in one day and thats all i did for that day haha. she was very cooperative this video! she's been very cuddly lately (or as cuddly as a non cuddly cat will get lol)
Oh my gosh why am i only just realizing how helpful this would be for cosplay tracking 😭 i always find myself struggling with the overwhelm of pintrest when putting together inspiration boards because the inspiration never ends!
Your bullet journal is so beautiful! I usually sketch out my ideas but feel inspired to have a little physical mood board on hand. Its super exciting seeing you work on this "regency-esque" project. Its lovely so far
Enjoyed seeing the bullet journal and baby bat! She's adorable 😻 Can't wait to see this project continue. I was going to do a Regency style dress but got sidetracked making a quilt instead lol.
I loved seeing your journal! I’ve transitioned to journaling on my tablet, but I still love notebooks and seeing how you structure yours is so great for inspiration :)
Thank you so much for sharing your bullet journal!! Please do a full video at some point. I've been struggling with figuring out how to organize my costuming and cosplay notes, and I love your layout.
@@moth.faerie Omg thank you, I absolutely will do. A chat is going to have to wait until after I get through the last two weeks of my program and graduate, but I'll send you a quick message there so it's not out of the blue from a random username later (different one here). I really appreciate the offer. 😊

I’m so excited for this series! Regency isn’t my fave period but I can’t wait to see how you interpret the Bridgerton aesthetic 😍 also would love to see a bujo tour and I was wondering if you had any tips or resources for the type of embroidery you did on the chemise? I embroider on thicker fabric with embroidery floss but don’t quite know how to get started on more delicate styles… Thanks! 🥰
Honestly I just googled regency embroidery and found one I liked and hoped it was accurate 😅 there are a few books I wanna get, once I get around to actually buying them I’ll make a recommended books video! Other than that I just scour through blogs and met photos
Nice shift and lovely embroidery! These unfitted historical undergarments are just soooo comfortable to hang out in :D Noticed that it's slipping off your shoulders a bit, could the straps be too long? Never made a regency shift, so maybe that can't be avoided if you want that neckline...?
There is a pride and prejudice picnic in my area this summer, so I want to put together a day dress. This is my first historical project, so I am glad that everyone says regency is a good place to start!
I love that we all have the same language for talking to cats. That brings me joy. Was doing the eyelet embroidery manageable? It's always sort of intimidated me because I'm terrified I'll do it badly and fray things.
Yes it was totally manageable! I just poked through with an awl and did a whipstitch and it doesn’t seem to be fraying at all. I would do a buttonhole stitch if they were getting threaded through but these will just exist on the fabric
So nice relaxing video t9 watch after done my 8 meter+ ruffel marathon today. Just not like how the finishing feels from inside due to bound it. 😔 But is kinda thick and rest is French seemed. Well guess I test it like this and see if i get to like it or if i must rip it out and figure out what to do instead.
@@moth.faerie maybe just cut it off. The front is just show a peak of knee so 2-3 cm ahorter should not be a issue. Just what tondo instead so I don't feel that edge so mutch. It's not happening right now. Need to think this over I think
I hope you don't mind but I have a fabric question. I have a fabric which is two fabrics sewn together to create the pattern on the front, and there are runs/ladders in the back fabric in places. Are these pieces unusable or are they safe to use without messing up the garment I go on to make with them?
sorry for the late response! i can't give a really good answer without seeing it, but if you're able to pull on it and the runs don't expand and theyr'e not showing to the front then it's probably ok. you could also use a fusible interfacing on the back to stabilize it if you;re covering the inside with a lining!

The bullet journal was fascinating. I do sketches of my ideas but never so much condensed visuals. It's an interesting method
i do sketches for more of my fantasy heavy designs! but with things that already have a visual that exists its faster if i just print and glue 😅
