It's insane to see how far this channel has come. I've been watching your videos for years and remember watching your first few experiments with corsets like it was yesterday. These days I'm amazed by every new project, they just keep getting better and more ambitious
My first video of hers was her reacting to the knock off version of her medieval dress, and then afterwards I watched her making the medieval dress and binge watched all of her things and became obsessed
@@drpigglesnuudelworte5209 Same here! I watched that video and fell in love with her personality and filming style, then went on to be absolutely captivated by her talent! 💕
The finished dress is beyond amazing. When Bernadette was cutting the stays, between the hair style and safety glasses, am I only one that got steam punk vibes?
"If you need a bit of a crafting task," Bernadette the LAST thing I needed was another crafting task! I have too many projects on the go already! Am I still going to get one though? Hell yes!
I know that you use the old singer sewing machine for historical accuracy, but may I say that it adds so much to the aesthetic and calming factor of your videos. The sound, the pace, the roses which harmonise so much with the wooden sewing maching. Scrumptious x
oh i love the idea of making stays in mesh! i never would have thought it had enough structural stability to work! i'm currently working on how to make a better chest binder for us trans folks by starting from 1700s fan curve patterning and then modernizing the silhouette and making it more masc (not emphasizing the hips, raising the neckline and having it curve in toward the body, etc) i think doing the whole thing in power net could also make it look more like lingerie but not in a fem way, ya know? we should have the option of binders that are totally stealth but we should also have the option of binders made to be seen! 1700s and 1800s knew WAY more than us about how to create a desired silhouette without hurting yourself. as designers we should be studying their engineering. there is no earthly reason for modern binders to be as uncomfortable and potentially dangerous as they are. we have the technology to do better. we've had it for 300 years. longer than that actually
I've seen people make binders with A-shaped boning, which apparently acts to shove the bust down in the same way the V-shaped boning on 18th century stays acts to emphasize the bust.
I would absolutely LOVE to be able to make corset-like binders for my transmasc friends and family before (or even if) they can get top surgery. The 8 hour limit can be so hellish for them, especially when they're out n about, but it's so unhealthy to keep it on for longer than that. Also, I can't imagine the synthetic fibers are doing them any favors in terms of breathability
It has been my little pipe dream to create structured stay-binders for years now. 🥹I would likE to join the onLine endEavor! I hope to see what more people come up with! It’s real homophobic and transphobic /hj just how little mentions/instruction/resources I have found on the web for a good binder using the knowledge of ages bygone. A binder that doesn’t make me want to spatchcock the tightening polyester sausage casing right off my skeleton with loud report. We gotta do allllll the archeology and lab research ourselves. I feel like I’m floundering around in the dark aside from a vague “bosom-wranglin? Those guys with the stays knew what was up” Well. I like to complain about all that work, but make no mistake, it’s also exciting. heeheehoo
The steampunk safety glasses give me SO MUCH JOY. But more than that, I love how elaborate your designs have gotten over the course of your channel, and how much you're experimenting and branching out while still keeping that core of of historical methods. Fabulous work and an absolutely stunning gown - it looks like you're clothed in liquid gold!
The content is fantastic, but can I take a second to appreciate how perfect the music is? All of it, just pure magic. You can tell she cares about her content!!
My Sister made her wedding dress. It came out so beautiful the lines, the subtleties of just the perfect laces to complement each other, ethereal & so uniquely her style. Wishing you every Happiness. 💙😸✌
the dress is EXQUISITE and as someone who's been curious about the massive but swooshy dresses of Dior's new look its a delight to hear there's relative ease of wear. the vibes of the video: excellent. the quality of Marlee's additions: top notch, Danny's editing- Glorious, crisp, immaculate. It’s little touches like the tune ending at 3:17 when the bobbinnette was cut that make your videos really stand out. You and your sibling are great storytellers, but you also excel at the small details as well ❤
The gold printed chiffon looked so magical when you were holding it, watching the folds shifts almost like water... and then I realized "oh god that fabric must be SO slippery and SUCH a pain to work with!" 😂
That little tea interlude was very nice! I liked seeing the natural, humorous interaction. As natural as it could be in front of a camera. Very cozy, very demure.

ok, interesting! I made stays a while ago and didn't like the tabs when wearing with pants and under t-shirts and such so made another pair with a straight bottom, made to curve over the hips. they've been just great!
The thing about daylight, is it's white light. So colours come out looking the way they actually are. Where indoor lighting tends to be yellow-orange light. Being opposite to blue, it has a negating effect. First pulling the blue to grey, and if strong enough, even overcoming that, and going into the yellow-oranges. Hence why the blue is subdued and the gold is allowed to shine.
I adore everything about this, the dress, the craftsmanship, the absolute chaos shenanigans at the end and the snurch 😂😂 10/10 inspirational and entertaining 👌
