Making Regency Short Stays

- With the making of Bridgerton the Regency Era is more popular than ever so I decided it was time for me to jump on this bandwagon and sew some Regency stays so I can eventually make myself a dress for a Georgian picnic I have coming up later this fall.

Thanks! You just convinced me to get the stays pattern I've been dithering over for a while
"are they the best I ever done?". I should ask myself that more often :D
When I first started making clothes I had never even heard of mockups!
Exactly! If you measure yourself or someone else correctly you don't even need them, for real. Imagine historical people actually doing mockups?! I honestly don't think they did. Fabric was too expensive back then.
Looks great! Beautiful fabric.
I’m glad they turned out fitting you quite well. For me, I always need at least two mock-ups, because it seams like my body isn’t no where near the models they use to make the patterns.
Oh I hate mock ups too! I don't do them if I don't have to, which is almost never lol. I hate wasty-waste!
The shift and stays turned out so lovely. Well done.
I completely understand your ambivalence about mock-ups, because I share them too. Unfortunately, being busty and curvy means that mock-up land is where I spend most of my time. I need to get back to my half-stays. I bought the Red Threaded pattern because, sweet summer child, I thought sizing up from a large to a 38F would be easy. After multiple tries I ended up with something that more resembles an 1890 corset with all of the boning I've added. Looking back, I think I'm actually closer to a finished garment than I thought...

FANTASTIC! It's good that your shift got more comfortable just wearing it. I don't know about that particular linen, but linen in general is supposed to get softer the more you wash it, so maybe it won't be as scratchy the more you wash-n-wear it. Looking forward to the next part!
I love it! You really lucked out.
Can't wait for the dress, but you're right Halloween shenanigans must c ok me first. 🧡🖤🧡🖤
They turned out great. I want to make regency stays so bad. Hopefully soon I will be able to. I just have so many projects ahead of it. Also I always am like that with my bobbin. Lol it always finishes when I'm almost done. Lol
Oh my goodness, stumbled upon your tea gown video by chance and have fallen absolutely in love with your channel! It's as if Frankie Derwent of "Why Didn't They Ask Evans?" developed an interest in sewing and started filming the resulting escapades. Stylish, funny, and engaging? Yes, please! Keep up the lovely work, and best wishes to you.
Can’t wait to see the regency dress!
I’m making one right now with the same pattern. I didn’t make a mock up and I’ll never make a mock up. lol.
I love it I will be trying to make it for my own wardrobe
Ooh exciting! Can't wait to see what you've got planned.
Very pretty 😀
Love your honesty.
I knit as well as sew and I do NOT swatch for the very same reason I don't do mock-ups.
I always enjoy your videos. I wish that you would put more out because they always bring a smile to my face. Can’t wait for Halloween
Thank you for this video! I’m about to tackle making one and I’m a little scared bc I’m not super advanced in sewing and historical undergarments always seemed daunting. But now I feel well prepared to take it on!
I love the blue and white striped apron dress can you send me a PDF pattern of it
I wanna know how does one get invited to regency events???😂 I’m in the middle of now where Texas if you were to poll a random person they won’t even know what the regency era even is.
Dallas has a costuming group. Can't speak to their events as I'm not a member, but it's what I've been able to find. (From a different corner of Nowhere, texas)
Sorry, hosted in Houston tx. At a gorgeous Chateau
I'm also not a big regency era fan but I thought about making these stays for my regular wardrobe. Do you know if they have the pattern as a PDF as well?
They have the redthreaded ones in pdf
