Thanks the "clamshell "was awesome seen a couple dozen lighting videos never saw that light technique before. also the split screen comparison was great
I'm really liking the clamshell look. I'm currently building my bootleg studio, and the clamshell approach will work perfectly with the space I am working with.
this couldn't have been better timing Sam! I just build a brand new gaming room and was trying to set up my camera and lighting today. Then your video popped up on my RUclips. Thanks for all the tips! I just found the perfect spot for my camera and lights!
Rembrandt has that timeless look to it that I love, but I'm also a fan of the ring light look! Did not think to put the camera infront of the ring light though, so thank you for that little tidbit!
Which lighting do you think would help most with NVIDIA Broadcast remove background without a green screen? I think lighting is the main issue preventing it from giving more crisp edges and flickering. I know this isn't avoidable altogether but would the right lighting help? Maybe a ring light/front-facing to give me contrast from the BG?
How would you recommend lighting a Neewer Green Screen. I’ve been having issues with the chroma key and have tried multiple angles with my lights and can’t get the chroma key right.
Hey Sam great video. I just ordered the light and the reflection panel. I’m going to try the setup with the light behind me and the reflection panel offset in front. For streaming. As of right now I have two big photography lamps. And I hate having them on me during my streams. I think this going to make it more enjoyable/ comfortable for me. While letting my viewers see my big dumb face. Thanks for the advice.
How bright do u guys usually set your lights when the light is shooting into your face. I find it a big distracting at times when playing games & the light is just blasting in my face lol
Not necessarily. 2 lights like this would work really well. Lighting equipment is one of those things that you can start off cheap, and as your content and income improves, it is much cheaper to upgrade to higher quality lights down the line.
Hi Sam, I've recently been working on my stream quality and I'm having issues with my monitor washing my face out with no other lights on in the room. Are there any tips you can offer to fix this? I've done everything I've seen in videos and the only thing thats helped was turning the brightness down on the monitor. My camera is the Razor Kiyo. Is it something a better camera will fix?
What lighting setup are you using in this video? It kind of looks like the last one except less harsh on the keylight side and more pronounced on the reflector side. Did you have just another light instead of reflector?
Apparently, there's a way to use a mirror as a fill light, making 3-point lighting possible with only two lights. I'd just recommend not having the lighting flat whenever possible.
Really nice video with knowledge for starters(like me). Well done Sam! Maybe add a link for a nice ring light, that doesn't cost 200$ :-) Thx for your work.
Very helpful video Sam! Based on your recommendation, I picked up this light kit. I do have one quick question for you: How do I change the groups for the lights to set them individually (For example: Have 1 light as 'A' and the second as 'B')? Thank you and keep up the outstanding work!
Just got a ring light bc they were 67% off on Amz for Black Friday. Looking forward to having something other than bedroom lamps w/Hue bulbs to work with. 😅 Thanks for the reflector tips! And for including diagrams of the set-up. That really helps me visualize the differences.
Hi Sam. Thank you for the Lighting Video. I'm really struggeling with lighting at the moment. I really like the first setup (Rembrandt) but I am wondering how to setup this properly when having the camera in a 45° angle to your face. Do you have any advice. Greetings from Germany and thanks a lot for your content. Really appreciating your channel. Cheers o/
One thing I hoped would be addressed (which wasn't) was how to control light spill. I find that whenever I light myself, even with soft reflected lighting, my background around 1.5m behind me is lit up like there's a spotlight on it. This leaves me blending into the bright background, where I'm going for a darker coloured background with bright white-light subject.
So when I clink the link it doesn't take me to that light. Also, when I type out the whole thing I can't find that specific one. Is it no longer available?
Replying to my own comment just to say. I fucking hate video production, i still haven't figured any of this out. Still making videos that look awful. Spent loads of money, wasted loads of time. Feeling a little sad

Just ordered a VL-200T. Can't wait to switch out my home lamp, in my next stream.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Thank you Sam, it's incredibly helpful, and you're so pro! Grazie!

Thanks for the video. Lighting is always a pain to ge right. Still having trouble myself.
Definitely need to put some of these to use! I like the kicker a lot, but it may be hard to pull off with a green screen.
Thank you so much for such useful video Sam!!
Thank you very much for the information and will try it. Hi From the Dominican Republic. 😁

Sam looks so good and happy lately, no clue what the difference is 👀
I like the way the light right behind the camera looks.
Perfect timing :) Just bought the first light for my streams. Appreciate the wonderful content, Sam. Thank you!
the reflector insane
Thanks Sam! As always, nice work! Hair is on point too 👌
Happy Holidays!
Wait what are you using to hold the reflector when it’s off to the side as a “modifier “ 🤔
A light stand with a clamp to hold the modifier. At most it's about $20 bucks for a decent stand plus the clamp.
@@SamWoodhall Thanks brother! You save me lots of money . Not many RUclipsrs offer cheap options! God bless
awesome tutorial, thank you!
Sam doing God's work as always! Thank you Sam
I've always felt like around December 15 is a good time to start doing it. I've noticed that people never seem surprised when I do it around then.
Love the lighting! It looks very amazing! 😊
Merry Christmas Sam 🎄
Amazing video, Sam. Very helpful.
Interested in knowing where do you place the reflector?
How would you recommend lighting a Neewer Green Screen. I’ve been having issues with the chroma key and have tried multiple angles with my lights and can’t get the chroma key right.
An awesome video as per usual, Sam. 😆👍👍
Cheers to you, my man! 🍻
Happy Holidays. ⛄❄

Hey Sam, for the light directly behind the camera where do we place the reflector? p.s Happy Holidays
The graphic shows it at 7:30
@@scottleist oh thanks
Loved the video like always!! Keep up the good work buddy
awesome and super useful. thanks
I prefer the look that clamshell gives.
Merry Christmas!
Great Job!!! Makes things easier.
Thanks for the help

Thanks for the help man
I love this man's accent
Thank you for sharing
Big fan sir
I Have 3 of theses viltrox lights...there are brilliant for the price
Thanks for the tips 😊👍
Could you please tell me what kind of lights in the background, I mean this stand blue and white one. thanks
You just blew my mind Sam. This video came at the perfect time and is so helpful to put together a stream in a small space! Thanks dude!
Will Rembrandt work with a ring light as well ? Since you initially mentioned this method with a key light
It can work, but because of how the ring light is made, it might be tricky to get consistent intensity because the middle is hollow.
So would you recommend getting one higher quality light for single lighting setup over 2 cheaper led panels?
Not necessarily. 2 lights like this would work really well. Lighting equipment is one of those things that you can start off cheap, and as your content and income improves, it is much cheaper to upgrade to higher quality lights down the line.

what would you recommend if only have 2 lights

Thx Sam for this video, it's always great to remember the light setup! 👌
I've used a ring light twice and find that it seriously hurts my eyes for hours or even days after. Anyone else?
Great video
Thanks!
Thanks for being my first Super Thanks! I'm glad you liked the video!

Anyone know of any good hardware out there to mount the light on top of a computer monitor?
Can anyone please tell me what the LED light Sam is using behind. The blue light behind
Very helpful video Sam! Based on your recommendation, I picked up this light kit.

Which light was your favourite? Do you guys use a single light for your videos and was this helpful to you?
Just got a ring light bc they were 67% off on Amz for Black Friday. Looking forward to having something other than bedroom lamps w/Hue bulbs to work with. 😅
Thanks for the reflector tips! And for including diagrams of the set-up. That really helps me visualize the differences.
"Happy Holidays" still works this early because even though it's not Christmas, Chanukah has already started!
Any advice for glasses wearers, I get a lot of reflections in my lenses!
