I would like the video Do make one. There are many streamers who buy the camera's cam link but don't set them correctly... a quick youtube search and they will find ur video!
Just to clarify, the key light is whichever light is your primary source of light in front of your face. So in this case, your panel on the left is your key and the one above the camera is your fill, because it's acting as a complimentary light to your key light. Overall, great tutorial on fitting literally several subjects into one video concisely!
A viewer on my stream recommended this video because I use a Razer Kiyo and it looked blurry and kind of faded. I love this video. Thank you so much for creating it. I did download the DaVinci Resolve and this is a brand new world. I created my first LUT because of you. Thanks so much!!!!!!!
Hey I just wanted to say that I really just started watching two videos from you and I decided to subscribe because (1) you seem to be original, you are not copying anyone's style, which I appreciate, and (2) because your content is very helpful and entertaining. So thank you for making these videos.
That LUT segment was *chef's kiss* perfect. Exactly what I needed to turn my grainy, yellow old 720p webcam into a better version of itself. 10/10 would recommend, high marks on Yelp.
I really like that you talk slowly and dont talk like we already know all the big jargen words etc. You earned my sub and Im not even 2 minutes in to it yet. Really enjoying this one @Nutty
Thank you for all the help by making these videos. I don't have any followers and nobody watches me on twitch, but I still want my streams to be something I can be proud of. Thanks for making that happen.
I've personally never put the fill light on the same side as the key light, but it's a really interesting idea and I do see the effect you're going for. It works. Great video
I love the way you explain everything lol "this is what camera nerds call a key light" and also how you did the video slowly adding in the lights so we can see the difference.
Thanks for this, I didn't know that OBS had LUT support. Super useful. I saw one other person mention it, but I think the main thing I didn't see that would have been helpful was just to have some powder on hand to tamp down some of the skin highlights. It was reading a little too hot. I appreciate the tips.
Thanks for the great walkthrough! I've watched several videos that talked about the theory or specific equipment or settings, but none of them made me feel like I really understood how to do it myself. By hearing your reason for choosing the things you did, seeing everything take shape step by step, and seeing exactly how to do it, I feel much more confident about being able to start my own setup. Thanks!
Nut, you are the man. We're all in a place where our presence is more online than it was 6 months ago. When people ask me how to create a better experience for their viewers, I'm all "You need to know about nutty."
This helped me so much! I'm using Logitech C310 as my main webcam and applying LUT filters really changed the way my webcam looked. Your video is really really informative, keep making content like this, I am so thankful.
An even better option for lighting that I been using is putting 2 Lume Cube Panel Minis on 2 tripods. The cost of Panel Mini and tripod comes up to about $90 for significantly less space plus you get a light with more functionality as it can be used for so much more. Plus it's about as small as a business card.
Camera nerd here: your brightest light is called your key light and your "shadow fillingup light" is your fill light. so actually, if you make your fill brighter, that becomes your key light. You switched the names. key is just your brightest 'primary' light :) great tutorial anyways!
Oh man, you are so sympathetic I will stay with you longer on this channel.. Many thanks for all the info you've included! Priceless! You are a great man!
As someone who find DSLR cameras way to much of a time investment to learn and master (more or a synth nerd) this video dramatically increased my quality of my streams thank you very much. I made a post on twitter with a shoutout out to you as well @nutty
Solid as tutorial and blended with sweet sarcasm. Exactly what I needed. You're the first person I've seen who showed me how to make LUTs and even though it might have seemed like a hack job version, it made 100% sense. Loved it!
I "accidently" found a pretty good light for streaming. The Autonomous Ultra Wide LED Desk Lamp because of how wide the thing is works great at not only lighting your desk but your face for a stream. It has the advantage of not shining in your eyes while playing.
hey, i know its been 4 years, but i couldnt help but notice how many freaking screens you have collecting dust. alsi9 love the mcgyver lighting contraption
Just found your channel and love all your tutorials. I do YT reactions, not streaming, but a lot of these apply to recording as well. You're a great teacher and hella funny. Keep up the great job!
Thank you for those great advices. Any chance you can possibly make a video on how to hear yourself and the music that's playing for your viewers at the same time? Been doing my Live Talks and it's kind of a bummer to not be able to listen to the music I have playing in the background while doing my talks. Thank you in advance.
Great video! Thanks for the tips. I'm just about to start a streaming channel for my FB Video Game channels that I've been running for nearly a decade. Nervous about it since I'm new to all this. You are correct about camera positioning! I took many photography classes and that is one thing they teach you! Your subject position is a major issue. Thanks again!!
Dude I come across your videos by accident, just amazing you give the entire information and straight to the point. Thanks for the help you have a new suscriber :)
Nutty, I gotta say, since I've started dabbling in the streaming of my Zwift running/cycling sessions, your videos have been a terrific help and very informative! Also like the humor you inject here and there....makes for an interesting watch. Thanks for putting these videos together along with the very helpful links to products/resources!
In Logitech C920's there is a mod for altering the far focus, makes it more capable of focusing on increased distances. Depending on how far away you are from it the mod can help, but you lose the auto-focus precision.
the sharpest aperture is generally speaking at a higher f/ than the lowest. i.e. mine cheap kit lens f/3.5-5.6 is sharpest at about f/8 (which is not the lowest)
How many of you guys are using or thinking of using DSLR/mirrorless camera setups? Maybe a dedicated video on real cameras in the future?
I would like the video Do make one. There are many streamers who buy the camera's cam link but don't set them correctly... a quick youtube search and they will find ur video!
yes, I cclemonz, famous twitch streamer use a $1500 mirrorless camera. please help.
Def would love one I'm using one now and going to try some of these tips with the LUTs. Keep up the amazing work your vids have been super helpful.
I use a Sony A6400 with elgato cam link 4K... Nice video mate! Thanks
I have a sony NEX-3 i thought about using
Color correction is getting all the colors to an accurate state. Color grading is then adding the specific style.
He DID say he wasn't a professional, so that's good enough of a get -out clause for me.

Best video ever! I'm a University professor in Brazil and your guide made my videos look much more professional! Thanks a lot!

I'm just using the logitech 920 but damn that was an amazing difference with the FPS, dark correction and resolution. you sir are awesome.
just tried this... i didnt took you seriously at the start of the video but after applying the LUT you showed, goddang i was amazed!
That LUT segment was *chef's kiss* perfect. Exactly what I needed to turn my grainy, yellow old 720p webcam into a better version of itself. 10/10 would recommend, high marks on Yelp.

Key light is the brightest. By making your "fill" brighter, it becomes the key. -- a camera nerd
Was just commenting this haha
@@WickN as was I haha! I definitely had a nerdy laugh come on when I heard that haha.
@@_MJ07_ yeah add me too
us camera nerds all came down to the comments to write the same thing. Thanks fellow camera nerds

This is so helpful! I'll need to play around with my lighting and apply a LUT for my webcam footage. Thanks for the great video.
this video just couldn't be any better! I am over the moon after watching this and applying few things to my webcam settings. thanks nutty!
