- Even before kickoff Saturday afternoon, MLS Cup 2021 is a historic event - both in terms of league history and the city of Portland.
The championship tilt between Portland Timbers and New York City FC at Providence Park is the most in-demand MLS event ever tracked by SeatGeek and is the most valued sporting event ever in Portland (3 pm ET | ABC, UniMás in US; TSN, TVA Sports in Canada).

I'm fan of both NY clubs so I'm glad that at least one club got the Cup. Hopefully one season both NY clubs can take both trophies lol. For us all the other clubs are our bitter rivals.

It seems that soccer in the US is at least no longer considered a female sport (which never made sense) it just needs more fans and mainly practitioners to be on the same level as the big European leagues or even Brazil and Argentina

Sounders fan here, you could imagine how happy I was at the end of this match, but more importantly how entertaining it was for a neutral fan
I really hope this team gets a proper stadium, the champions playing in a baseball field is embarrassing.
They could do way worse than Yankee Stadium though. Its like playing tennis in the Rose Bowl, sure it's not ideal for the game but it's a historic ground nonetheless (and yeah I know it's the new one but still).
We just proved to the whole city and the politicians we belong in NY and deserve a stadium. I’m sure they will get something done

Well, that's a second time in 4 years Portland falls to a relatively young club (in terms of years in MLS) in the Final. Congratulations, NYCFC from a Sporting KC fan.
This one probably hurts a little more for the Timbers considering this championship game was at home compared to '18 in Atlanta. Once Johnson saved Valeri's PK I immediately went 'NYCFC's got the win, they just better make their kicks and not choke'.
@@johnathanpatrick6118 I was in the stadium and that’s basically what the atmosphere felt like as well when that happened…from the highest of highs, scoring with 5 seconds left to play, to the lowest of lows all in a matter of minutes.

Soy de Barcelona y me gusta mas el sistema de la MLS que el sistema de Europa. En Europa siempre ganan los mismos 4 o 5 equipos de siempre y es muy aburrido. En la MLS puede ganar cualquier equipo y es mucho mas emocionante. En La Liga ya sabemos que el Real Madrid sera campeon de Liga ahora en diciembre y faltan 5 meses! En la MLS no se sabe hasta el ultimo segundo y es mucho mas emocionante.
Soy de NY pero me gusta el sistema de Europa que se juega 2 juegos de ida y vuelta. En USA no pasa eso. Solo jugamos más juegos contra algunos clubes y 1 o nada contra otros. Pero el balance o la paridad en la liga aquí es más emocionante. Quisiera que el sistema de liga de Europa exista con el balance de clubes que hay aquí.

This pains me as a Red Bulls fan, but we're gonna have to stomach this result, as we should. We've been in the league since the beginning and haven't done jack since (if you don't want to include the Supporter's Shields). Meanwhile, NYCFC has won the league in just their seventh season. The main difference between us and them is that City Football Group actually cares about their MLS franchise, while Red Bull has since neglected us in favor of Leipzig and Salzburg. I'm still praying that Red Bull sells the team, but that's besides the point.
Maybe with this win, MLS soccer will actually become relevant in New York and will finally help get NYCFC their own damn soccer-specific stadium. Maybe this will also push the Red Bulls to actually try and win the Cup, we can't keep spending nothing and relying on academy players. Lots of maybes to take from this result.
I love shitting on the Smurfs and thought their run through the playoffs was... easy, to say the least, but their win against Portland showed that they deserved to put a star over their crest. Well done NYCFC, see you guys next year.

@@abby2051 because they were like 8th in the league before playoffs and didn’t have a lot points but yet they end up getting a title position and shot. My problem is really with the MLs playoff system which allows teams that aren’t doing the best during regular season a chance to win the cup

From 2:14 - 2:17 a Portland player clobbered Chanot with his elbow during the buildup to the goal, which should have been called off. Even the ESPN announcers and guest analyst said Portland got lucky with that goal.

O clube não poder financeiro para se manter e muito menos para competir pelo título do Brasileirão com essa fórmula atual horrível de pontos corridos. Agora se tivesse playofs (mata-mata) o Fortaleza, com menor orçamento, teria alguma chance e bem organizado de ganha algum dia o título nacional. Mas atualmente com boa organização dentro e fora é possível ganhar uma Copa do Brasil ou Sul-Americana e sofrendo muito!!

A fórmula atual é horrível para manter 12 clubes grandes e mais os clubes alternativos como Fortaleza e Athletico-PR por exemplo!!
