Im a timbers fan for life, but gotta give props to the KC goalie, he was just 22 years old and just a backup for KC. He saved multiple penalties, and performed very well
As soon as that ball hit two posts, you know there was something special going on in Portland this year. Cool to see them win the MLS Cup.
yeah its called the champions luck
Luck...he missed
sure by a an atom but he missed
My blood pressure found new, incredible heights on this day.
I remember going to a small strip-mall sports bar in Tigard, OR to watch the game. Soccer was a "pussy sport" according to the regulars there, who were watching football and basketball. The bartender put the Timbers game onto a smaller TV in a corner for me, and I was the only one watching. By the time Urruti scored the equalizer in the 2nd half of overtime, I had a small group of guys with me that had found it interesting. By the 2nd round of the shootout, the entire bar was glued to every TV turned to the game. Screaming with every make and miss. The double-post miss almost broke the bar. I was mobbed with hugs and free beers when Kwarsey saved Kempin's last shot. I made soccer and Timbers fans that night.
Long live our savior, Adam Kwarasey. Good luck in Norway!
The most dramatic thing I've ever seen in any sport, period. Timbers supporters have been so loyal for so long. We deserve this. #PTFC
Collin W god bless, testify brother #RCTID
Timber’s fucking suck
W U S B R A C K I N you fucking suck
Screw the timbers SFC all the way
Back again. I think I watch this once every 6 months... just about. Audio level is pretty tame compared to how it really was in the stands and on the field. Trust me, the noise level was a major factor on those players' nerves.
Watching this for the 5th time and still in shock
Lol my heart still beats so fast watching this a year later knowing exactly what happened. This was the best soccer match I have ever seen, especially being a timbers fan.
I remember not studying for my massive analytics exam... I got a 60...
Tbh it was worth it and Im not even a Timbers fan. Probably the most crazy game I've ever seen.
I've enjoyed watching this league grow as the USA finally catches on to a sport that many American people forever thought was too low scoring to be exciting. The low scores allows these moments though, when everything can teeter on a knife edge for so long. Anybody American or otherwise who followed this league and watched that game will defend the sport of association football for a long time!
well said my friend
Yup, and there are American talents in Europe.
Even though I'm a Chelsea supporter and not a huge fan of MLS, I've lived in Portland since 78' so naturally the Timbers became my adopted side. I go way back to the NASL days before old Civic Stadium was renovated and used to watch John Bain, WIllie Anderson, the Gant brothers, Cho-Young Jeung, Clive Charles and so many others play on that raggedy covered concrete green pitch when general admission tickets were $6.00. These penalties against KC were crazy agonizing and I lived and died with each one. Most amazing penalty shoot-out I've ever witnessed. 2020 maybe a really good one, with the new Polish striker coming in for the Timbers. Kind of excited for MLS this season even though I still got three months of the Premier League schedule left and my Chelsea team hanging on by a thread. How about that Pulisic kid? If we could just keep him healthy he may turn out to be a very nice player in the EPL.
I was there and my voice was shot for a week afterward. The single most nerve-wracking, surreal (the double post!) and ultimately thrilling sporting event I have attended in my life. And not just for the PK shootout - the game itself was great, too.
Even as a Sounders (till I die) fan I got to give mad respect to the Timbers for this win. I thought our game against LA was stressful!
+LouieLewLou1 Watching LA vs Seattle, I was imaging fans of both teams sweating bullets. Then I go to this game and have to sit down by a water fountain in the hallway during the game just to calm myself down. I'm still drained 24 hours later....ugh
This is quite incredible:!!.Amazing stuff!! As a Ghanaian am really happy for Kwarasey
legend says the posts are still vibrating.
I watch this video at least once a week and it gives me Goose Bumps -- Goose Hollow Bumps that is -- every single time.
I see what you did there
i was there, this was the most exciting sporting event I have ever seen. I think my heart stopped several times though, rctid
As a big soccer fan of liga mx and most of the leagues in the UEFA I can honestly say that these mls games are so much funner to watch than most of the other games
+jcgp85 I the unpredictability that makes it fun. UEFA games are too predictable sometimes.
+jcgp85 I agree. And more relaxing also.
FINALLY A EUROPEAN SAYING THIS LEAGUE IS GOOD, WE LOVE YOU!!
Chris McPhee no one cares
Chris McPhee shit league, the teams in it just make each other look good.
2018. Still gets me hyped every time I see it. And I know I’m biased by being a huge timbers fan, but this game has got to be one of the best MLS games ever...I mean COME ON! This shootout and Urruti’s goal at the end of added time just make this an insane game to watch
I was there, I've watched this footage over five times, and it still gives me chills! RCTID!
11:20 .....The time physics was broken
+Johnpaul Flores A few millimetres. That's the difference between being a champion and getting eliminated.
+Lee Haber wasnt the championship
You're right it wasn't, but they don't win the championship later without it.
Dat happens to me so much in real games😢😢😢
This is the day I found how high my stress level could get 😹 I'm just so happy we won the whole thing. RTCID
This and Damians dagger to Houston are my 2 most favorite sporting moments watching live. So many emotions!
Even watching this again, nearly 3 years later... my heart still skips a beat.
This is freaking exciting. Forget about Baseball, hockey and American football, Soccer is booming in USA.
Sadly we got Brits saying this league sucks, but yet they compare MLS to BPL. It prevents Americans to see MLS Is a good soccer league.
It's like comparing NBA and Brit basketball league lol
Chris McPhee the league sucks man no player stands out
i follow MLS every football fan does, we like football and more football,
Minjarez96 many do, but they're usually from south Americas
Just re-watched this and relived every kick, every miss, and every block. Hair on the back of my neck is standing, and tears are falling. I think we're ready for the season 2016 season!!!
I watch this and know what happens, yet I still get nervous. RCTID
Same here
+Rosa Rosales same
Heart rate found numbers I didn’t think were possible that night. Love this damn team RCTID
This is the most my heart has ever beat and it still does 7 years later brownfield a diehard Timbers fan who was in the stadium at the time.
i can watch this over and over
Watched this again for Nat Brochers .. we salute you PTFC
Wow craziest shoutout ever!!
im from malaysia.. damn..i loved portland timber
I knew the Timbers were gonna do something special when they beat the Galaxy in LA (and I was at that game too). I was looking at my phone during choir practice for this one, trying to get updates. When they finally won it, I started singing.
Watching this during the pandemic all these years later and I still need a change of underwear. Home of the FIRST MLS Champs in Cascadia
RCTID!!
Still as awesome to watch now as it was then. What a legendary moment!
you've got to give kempin credit for being only 22 and performing like that
Courtois is only 23 and is the top 5 GK's in the world
EpicXskillzHD true
+Ato Akoto be quiet.
+Ato Akoto When you can't spell for shit
+Ato Akoto And putting Iker casillas in the top 5 in the world is foolish.
Still the greatest sporting event I have ever witnessed.
Wow!Kwarasey looks more confident, focused and determined than I remember him from the World Cup in Brazil.
Never gets old. Rewatching for good vibes going into the western conference finals against RSL!
Back in 2021, heart is still pounding and nerves still shot. What a game! 👏PT👏FC👏
Unbelievable. Amazing. Spectacular. And a little bit of luck. #PTFC
my heart stopped a couple times in that night
amazing penalty definition, congrats timber ¡¡
This match serves as an example why soccer is the sport king for this planet, its just overwhelmingly exciting and dramatic.
Truly an EPIC in penalty shootouts. I laugh when people watch Baseball. Soccer is the real excitement.
Can't baseball AND soccer/football both be fun to watch in their own respects? Just because you like one doesn't mean you can't like the other.
To compare Baseball to soccer is truly an insult to soccer(The most popular sports on the planet). Many Americans seem to agree with me that Baseball is boring.
I like both, baseball is somewhat like penalties it's a really good sport as well both are!
I'm a Timbers season ticket holder since day 1, but I also love baseball. The games are very, very different. Soccer is the most exciting, frustrating sport on the planet, constant movement and non-stop action. Baseball is more cerebral, situational and strategic. Both have a lot to offer. Portland has a strong baseball tradition, if we could've found a place to build a new stadium we'd still have both. But it didn't work out and our beloved Beavers had to go elsewhere to make way for the Timbers. As much as I love soccer, and I know it was the right decision, I still miss our baseball club.
It's 2018 and I just found this video after watching the PK shootout between Croatia and Denmark, ano I am sure goalkeeping is still the most fascinating job on a football field... and congrats to all the survivors because that was nerve wracking x.x
Beth Souza yes, It was, indeed. That was what was missing to me fall in love for Portland Timbers.
I was in 207 behind the goal for this and I'm pretty sure I'll never witness anything it for the rest of my life. Never have I high-fived so many random strangers.
Your a king if your watching this in 2021 Portland was just in the finals and lost to NYC
As a timbers fan that was sooo nerve racking to watch
I feel bad for the kc keeper
+nuggz503 chill. He was talking about kc's keeper
U mean Ivan Drago
Why he can go fuck himself, dumb sporting KC bitch
Why would you feel bad for the SKC goalie? He did what he could by defending all the PK'S and had to make a PK kick which was even more pressure on him. SKC had many chances to close the deal and they did execute
Hey Melia’s doing pretty good
Big Beard Borchers!! I love the salute...
My dear pal Simone Faggiani told me to watch this. Well gee willikers I'll be damned, things got more rowdy than two possums in mating season! Really enjoying this soccer thing!
Most intense shootout I have ever seen especially for the MLS
It was our destiny all along.
Thanks for spoiling the final score by putting it in the title
Talk about a pucker-factor, no wonder Nagbe couldn't watch. I've never seen a shootout like this one.........and that includes the former NASL era from the 70's. Timbers had a great lineup in 2015, too bad so many (from that squad) are gone in 2020.
I am not fan of any of those teams but I really did feel the drama, the pressure, the agony of every shoot out. Unbelievable. I can image how strong feelings the fans was going through and I cannot image how high the players them selves were suffering. Exciting part of clubs history.
La galaxy fan but timbers is my second favorite team
Love you boys! RCTID!!!
Did anyone hear him like laugh when he said now he must score 😂
Felicitaciones saludos desde Argentina
That was dope
Has become a Annual thing to watch this
What a shootout!! 👍
I still remember the energy
I kid you not (I’m not lying) this was my first professional soccer game I had ever been to.
Wow.Keeper vs Keeper.Wow.
As a union fan, it makes me very happy to see Kansas lose on penalties :-)
+bdawk20 how is it karma they won fair and square...
The goalkeeper was looking at his notes in the shootout
+Gregg Blade so?
+Gregg Blade that's perfectly legal lmao
+Gregg Blade cheap move but legal
2023 and I still get nervous watching it
Отличная серия пенальти👍
can't believe this. you r such a lucky as heaven.
We were at this game
Waooooo what a game ever played in history
reliving this again (:
who’s here when this video says 6 yrs ago in 2022
I nearly had an heart attack 🤣
I never tire of watching this! 💚💛
Interesting shootouts
11:21 that will never happen again
thinking about this after 2021 mls cup
so freaking amazing but now bring on vancouver
fkin saw it in kempin's face he was nervous as hell.
It’s funny to watch this back and see both keepers getting further and further off the line with each penalty and the linesman never raises his flag. Kempin was so far off his line on Powell’s penalty (the one right before the Double Post) that he got there before the ball did.
I'm not a fan of neither team and this was awesome!!!⚽️👍
Crazy how all the 11 players shot a penalty😮
I was there
anyone know what gloves kwarsey, the one in the orange, is wearing
He was about to celebrate 11:22
Wait. Isn't skc western conference?
i was at the game! almost fucking had a heart attack. haha
As an Rsl fan this makes me very happy
Peter DeBry why because you suck
@Larrsen Clark -lighten up, Francis
11:20 Kick, Doink, Doink, NO!!!!!!!!
Unbelievable!
I grew up playing soccer till my mid twenties and can say that I’ve seen that happen before, soccer practice or some meaningless game. But not at this level and definitely not with everything on the line like this was.
Deh yah fi alvas 🇯🇲
What did the piece of paper say?
the order in which they shoot.
who won the mls 2015?
+Victor Uler timbers :)
Anybody watching this in 2018?
