Well said. I have not seen this area myself. I think St. Germain or Port Augusta is the furthest I have driven from Melboune towards centre of Australia in a car. I think I could see the start of Flinder Ranges but never actually went in there. So been watching this series of videos the last few days of their road trip from Perth to here and none of these places I seen in person. I have been to Darwin a couple of times and hired vehicles to the see around Katherine and the national parks there but not actually driven to there from here in Melbourne. The most remote drive I remember being on and heading around to turn back as it looked so desolate was on the road from Mildura to Wentworth and the area looked so flat and vegetation so minimal it looked like it would be that way for hundreds of kilometres so turned around and headed back with girlfriend. To be fair to ourselves it was 47 degrees that day and crazy hot wind so it was not the right time to take a massive road trip in middle of nowhere. Think we ended up back down the Grampians a few days later which was great so still had a great time. Australia is so big you really cannot see everything, even if you try.

The stunning nothingness of being in the middle of nowhere in Aus, boring sometimes but also gives the perspective of just how big and often remote our beautiful country is. I’m so happy you did the Flinders Ranges, so vast, ancient, and silent. It’s like nowhere else in Aus. For me it’s a bit like Uluru in that it’s all about a ‘feeling’ that’s hard to explain. ❤️❤️❤️

They are certainly going places the vehicle they had last time wouldn't be able to handle and seeing things even many lifelong Aussies probably didn't know existed.
And it wouldn't surprise me if there are a non-zero number of people who have watched this video series and have become more likely to buy a Mazda (BT-50 or otherwise) as a result of doing so.

It’s good to be here!
The famous old Ghan railway track went through very remote and difficult terrain. The train was often stuck for days outback because of floods and the damage it causes to railway infrastructure. The Ghan was famous for being late to it's destination, not by hours but for days or more. There was an old joke that spoke of a woman passenger on the train talking to the guard and saying, "When will we get there, I am about to have a baby?" the guard said, " You should have thought about that before you boarded the train". The woman said, "I wasn't pregnant before I boarded the train".
Saturday morning coffee...stroll through the Flinders Ranges...and Arizona at the same time! Perfect! Thanks Wanderers! Droney McDrone Face haha love it... now it will get an Aussie nickname.... Macca! That’s how we roll 😂

Yeah exactly. The isolation and boredom and featurelessness and unearthly silence of it is the whole point...there isn't anywhere else quite like it in the world BECAUSE it is so flat and empty and lacking in things to look at or do.
I guessed Cheveyo would be looking for a car wash the moment you reach civilisation! Glad you finally made it to the Flinders. The drone shots are beautiful. 😊
Tia you just break me up with your innocence, we Aussies would never bark at you cos you were looking at our truck if you hadn't run away he probably would have given you a tour and let you sit in the drivers seat and yet in the next breath you are talking to the camera like a true professional.
Fun fact, that lake has fish in it.
The fish remain dormant in the ground until the lake floods.
We done an 'Eco Tour' of the Flinders Ranges some time ago and we went into a canyon that was home to a colonly of Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby's, and our driver/guide was saying how well camoflaged they were to avoid several types of large eagles that hunted in that area. We found how right he was when we looked at the photo's we took in the canyon, and could hardy make out any of the wallaby's at all!! A real cool place indeed, we loved the place.
We are probably 2 days behind/in front of you and as (old) Aussies we are in awe as much as you.
I went to Arizona back in 1980 before I went to the Flinders Ranges a few years ago, as you both said, very similar and both wonderful. Great journey you've both done!

Tia, you’d do well living in Australia with your social anxiety. We love our personal space and respect others space, especially in the country. In fact there was a study that said that Australia’s require the greatest amount of space between them and other people. We freak out if anyone gets too close. 😂
And if we chat to strangers, which we do a lot, it will only ever be because of a genuine want to be friendly.
PS: that fine red dirt is called bull dust. It’s gets everywhere and is impossible to get rid of. 😂

I have travelled the Oodnadatta track more times than I can remember, rolled a government vehicle on it and spent time with the RFDS strapped to a gurney flying over it. We always used to put our clothing in sealed plastic bags in our suitcases because the bulldust got into everything. These small places can get really busy depending on the time of the year.
Don’t be afraid of the truckies, they have some good yarns to tell. And there will forever be some outback dust in the vehicle. 😊
That red dust stuck everywhere on your vehicle is called Bull Dust. It gets into everything.

Another great video. Did the track a few years ago in summer and there was no one on the road. The local cop at Oodnadatta came over to speak with us as he hadn't seen anyone roll into town for a few days. The museum was closed but we were entrusted with the keys and took a look around. Shame you didn't go to Peake Hill telegraph station, that is an amazing historical site. Take care, safe travels.
Cheveyo! Rebooting the brain was the phrase I was looking for to express the positive side of being in such an isolated and apparently featureless place. I knew a botanist who drove across the Nullarbor, stopping every 10 to 20 ks to collect a plant specimen. He stuck them in a book and as you leaf through it you could see that every one of them was different.
Yeah ,it definitely has that affect.
Loving this series so much....the outback is my favourite part of Australia,especially the isolation & sky at night.
I can't afford to travel much at moment but enjoying being able to see parts of Aus I haven't been yet through your travels.

The Oodnadatta track is a magic piece of road - except when it's raining.
If only you had known, you could have stopped in at Anna Creek Station.
Anna Creek Station has an area of 23,677 km2 (9,142 sq mi; 5,851,000 acres) this makes it comfortably the largest station in the world.
One tenth the size of the State of Arizona.
The Flinders Ranges are majestic and so worth the visit.

@@michaelayliffe7238 it actually was pretty okay. We were one of the light vehicle on the road after it had been graded by road workers. The only hairy situations was actually on the road between Farina and Maree, because that had rutts so big you could stand in the and be hip deep.

Hi Tia and Cheveyo. I used to go camping in the Flinders Ranges in the early 1970s. Back then it was all rough tracks, and I had an old school Toyota Land Cruiser with light truck tyres. I absolutely loved it and back then there were no tourists. The ancient beauty and serenity are good for the soul. And the sunrises and sunsets are stunning. Enjoy.

Ahhhh...that's bringing back memories of the mid to late 1990's (back when I was in my mid 20's) & on a dirt biking odyssey in the Flinders region with the lads & ladettes. We dropped in to Oodnadatta & got a group pic with the crew & bikes under that iconic Oodnadatta Track sign...& a bit later all of us sitting down along the front of the pub (on the cement) have a thirst quenching beer in our riding gear. Great memories of some times.

Did you know that Lake Eyre is actually below sea level. A lot of the rivers in outback Qld flow to it. Have a look online for a map of the Lake Eyre catchment. The size is mind boggling. So glad you guys took this route and got off the bitumen. And yes it's pronounced air so well done!
William Creek and Marree are busy little dots in the middle of nowhere cos they are used for the sightseeing flights over Lake Eyre. Definitely worth the cost.
Love the cool drone footage, it really makes the road trip experience for us viewers so real. The date oasis with the springs was awesome. Ps I’ll never do this road trip so it is amazing to see it thru your eyes.
The drone work is just so good, what an amazing upgrade it has made. Gives us a much better feel of what the outback looks like.

The Flinders Ranges is such a special place. I use to go there every year back when I lived in Adelaide. It's been about 24 years since I was last there, as I now live in Perth.
I visited the old rail station at Curdimurka back in '92. I climbed the old rickety spiral stairs to the top of the old water tower. The view was of a completely flat but spectacular plain where you could see as far as Lake Eyre South. Coming back down the staircase was quite possibly the scariest thing I have ever done.
It's not about the destination, it's about the journey - but you can only fit so much in a short video! I would not have approached those men around the truck either! 😥 You guys have taken our outback and made it yours! Such beautiful drone shots, and love your open minds to our harsh living history! The Ghan is named for the pioneer Afghan Cameleers! Amazing atmosphere! 🙋👍

I've been in various forms of mining engineering for over 20 years. Most of the transporters and operators of the big stuff will be more than happy to talk with you about it for hours. You might even luck out with one who will let you climb into the cab etc. (but not sure how that flies these days, insurance and all.)
That dumper is definitely a 'baby' in that it's much smaller than the massive machines they have on site for moving product around. The 'big' ones like the 777s have tyres 3*the height of an average human and would have the highway shut down for transport. Very cool gear.

It's so great to see a couple who obviously NEVER EVER ARGUE. it would be so awakening and a terrific learning experience to be in your company for a week or so. Sorry unable to drone Lake Eyre it is great from the air when it has water it has had a number of floodings over the last 10 or so years due to rains in Queensland and collection rivers. Rode my bicycle from Adelaide, through the north Flinders Ranges to Marree, then up the Oodnadatta Track to Oodnadatta, then west to the Painted Desert and onwards to Cadney Park Roadhouse on the Stuart Highway. 😊

I've always wanted to see Wilpena Pound after missing out in 1973 due to floods. I've never had the opportunity since, so thank you for taking me there. It's even more beautiful and impressive than I imagined.

This is the most I've ever noticed the music in one of your videos. The gothy synths over the Australian gothic visuals is chef's kiss!! I keep watching on my tv and forgetting to comment afterwards but also huge agree from some amount of videos back with how sacred it can feel to be in the mountains here and how you feel the millennia of human history. Been living around the Moonbi Range in NSW since January and it hurts to imagine ever being away from it now. 🥲 Also, not sure if you're still taking music recs but Telenova is one of my favorite new to me Aussie bands as of late.

Great video as usual. the Flinders Ranges and particularly Wilpena Pound are one of my favourite places to go camping from Adelaide. A pity you didn't get the chance to hike up St Mary's Peak on the edge of the pound. It has one of the best if not the best views in South Australia.

My parents have done the loop a couple of times now and my father often comments that it's amazing how many different types of "nothing" you can see in the outback. There's nothing like spending time in the big sky country.

Thanks for another engaging video. I went down "the Track" over 30 years ago, and it does not seem to have changed much - but there was so much I had forgotten! And the dust for us was mud, so don't complain too much. Getting that mud off once it dried was extreme.
Chev it is good to see you taking a more active role in the presenting. Tia is bubbly and energetic, but you bring a calmness and reflective quality that gives a great balance. You do make a great team.

You guys are certainly getting in amongst it. I like how you acknowledge the emotional high you experience when after hours of driving through nothingness you come across something that elevates your sense of 3 dimension again, even if it's some old ruins. It's a novel experience few tourist explore in such intense isolation. Hats off to you both for taking on the challenge, impressive. Tia if you had asked I'm sure that truckie would of let you climb up to the cab on that Haulpack. Sitting behind the wheel of one of those rigs and being that high up would of put Tia for scale at a whole new level. Good vid great drone work.

Did the Oodnadatta track a few times back in the 80s in a 60s EH Holden, coming from Adelaide most of the older cars were full of rust, which you don’t really see these days, took a few days from Adelaide to Alice camping on the side of the road along the way, looks like the dirt roads are pretty well maintained these days

I live next the Flinders Ranges, in northern SA, and it's a great area to visit. Looks like you drove through Brachina Gorge. Actually Wilpena Pound wasn't formed by either a volcano or a meteor strike.
Emus always travel in family groups. So if you see one, slow down cos the rest of the family will be nearby and they'll often dart across the road to stick together.
Oh no I hope youvwent into the Williams Creek hotel, it is such an icon, everyone who travels through leaves a little something there, hats, badges, money, clothes etc, it's an amazing going through all the different countries In there
I am relieved to learn that your drone is still operational after its unscheduled visit with a tree. Including some aerial footage in your videos provides people with a better appreciation of just how little there is to see in remote locations around Australia. Seeing Lake Eyre when it is flooded is amazing. The area really bursts into life with a huge array of flowers and wildlife.

Another cracking vlog. Well done guys, you never fail to meet expectations. And well done also for taking on the OT. I would say "tedious" rather than "boring". Those types of roads/landscapes are as much a mental challenge as they are physical. You once were tourists but have now gone well beyond the 'Bondi and Byron Bay Brigade'. Don't let anybody tell you that you aren't certified/ bona fide Outback Tourers. Looking forward to all that is ahead for you - either on this visit or the next one. We are off to Uluru/Kata Tjuta/Kings Canyon next week. C'nardly wait! 🙂
I thought the drone duty had been passed to Tia after the bump in the last video, until Cheveyo was again flying it later in the vid.
Started watching earlier videos again and you can definitely see the improvements in both experience and equipment through the years. I have to the limit the number of Thailand ones I watch in a row as it keeps making me so damn hungry.
Being from the UK, the vast open spaces of Australia you show are just awe inspiring.
