10-15 years should definitely be the correct criteria. Nore wasn’t even out 20 years when this show originally came out. By saying 20+ you’re alienating the 50 Cents, Kanye’s, The Game’s, etc. Still Legendary figures in the game and especially now that we’re moving forward in the 2020’s.
Caz is a legend! He kept it real about the Bronx being the birthplace too. They were the Borough that kicked it off & had the clubs but he said they got their names from Grandmaster Flowers... Grandmaster Flowers is from Brooklyn, heard DJ Clark Kent say he was inspired by him too.
I'm 35 minutes in. It's great to have Caz on to share all of these classic stories, but as a non-US cat, I'm surprised N.O.R.E. wasn't familiar with some of the things Caz is talking about. I thought they would all know the Sugar Hill Gang lyrics story and the origin of the name Hip Hop.

Growing up in Harlem I remember going to the "Jams" in the pj's (mainly Grant, Lincoln, Foster, St Nick) and seeing the pioneers tap into the light post, setting up the Dj equipment. That's when I fell in love with the Hip-Hop culture. Hearing GMC in this interview teach brought so many memories that inspired me to become a "turntableist". When he mentioned the help taking all the equipment out, guys were right there to help but it was a different story when the party was over hit home. Thank you GMC & Drink Champs for the greatest Hip-Hop history lesson of my time as of yet.
