@@supadave422 I felt it deep as soon as he said it. A whole consciousness into a few words... and I think that's perhaps why so often there's such a disconnect between the old and new. There's an authenticity and truth that's often lacking. It doesn't have to be "boom bap", but if there isn't an honesty to it and it feels forced, it doesn't register... doesn't feel familiar... I've been saying for years, there's always a trace of the "original bloodline" in the music. And thats not about "purists: either, its just the presence of truth.
@@monteblanc1622 fax there’s a disconnect because between old and young because us older cats do it for the love the art young dudes do it as fad a trend a hustle a way to get some quick money like search said most of us that really love hip hop don’t care about the money we will do it for free fr fr but at the same time we won’t be exploited either this is a culture a lifestyle look I’m 40 plus my brother is in his late 30’s because of me he grew up hip hop one day he came to a get together and he had some grills or as us older cats say frontz in his mouth my mom said take that out your mouth your to old for that I said naw that’s our culture the same way a Muslim woman wears her head garment or a Amish person wears whatever they wear or a Indian person puts a red dot on they’re head a Scottish person wears a kilt this is our culture, religion our way of life just because it’s something you may not understand doesn’t mean it’s wrong
All fax I’ve definitely met some people from different races that dressed like me talked like and thought they were just trying to be cool and had an opinion about them until we got to talking kicked it and found out they deejay, rap, tag, break whatever and right then race went out the window in my eyes they were hip hop
"98% of men and women over 30 stop listening to new music...after 30 you only go back to the artist you love." I felt that in my soul. It's the reason you will hear us old heads talk about how they don't make music like they used to. Respect Serch for the enlightenment and for being a 2%er.
Yup.. it’s so true… my musical taste is pretty much strictly 90s to early 2000s shit. From hip hop, to R&B, to alternative rock/grunge/nu metal etc. I try to give newer and current music a chance, but 99% of it is GARBAGE! I’m sorry but I don’t understand how people can listen to the new school rap. Its such a shame the direction hip hop went, in MY opinion. 90s emcees were sooooo much more lyrical, original, and skilled in general. It was more of an art form.. some of it was deep and poetic. The beats/instrumentals in the 90s and early 2000s were just better! I simply can’t fathom how anyone could willingly listen to the new shit, when they COULD BE listening to REAL hip hop. I’m talking about stuff like 90s mobb deep, big pun, big L, wu tang, cormega, Capone n Noreaga, boot camp cliq (Sean Price, Heltah Skeltah, Black Moon, Smif n Wesson), Kool G Rap, Rakim, Nas, AZ, Bone Thugs, EPMD, Pharcyde, Non Phixion, Lost Boyz, Gangstarr, 2Pac, Das EFX, Black Thought, DMX, A Tribe Called Quest, Group Home, the Lox, Dipset, Lord Finesse, Onyx, M.O.P., Naughty By Nature, Raekwon, Tragedy Khadafi, Biggie, etc etc etc I could go on and on.. then you got some of the greatest R&B artists ever, such as Ginuwine, Jodeci, 112, Jagged Edge, Mario, Joe, Tyrese, Jon B, Donell Jones, Aaliyah, Mya, Boyz II Men, Blackstreet, Dru Hill, Brian McKnight, etc etc My bad.. this comment is ridiculously long.. I just wanted to emphasize how great that era was for music. It was the golden era! I wish the old school style would make a come back ASAP! Lastly, I know some younger people, like gen Z’ers, and people who like the current music and the current state of rap, might take offense to my comment, but it’s just my personal taste. I will say that there still are some good emcees coming up today, but they are rare.. like J Cole.. he’s an example of a current rapper who is actually talented and dope. But sadly, there will never be another golden era of hip hop like the 90s to early 2000s was. And that concludes my essay lol damn I spent way too much time typing this shit that no one will ever read 😆

This was a real treat to anyone who appreciates true Hip Hop! Being an 80’s baby obsessed with the music and culture this was absolutely amazing to watch. Things that I loved through the years from artists to brands I had no idea he was a part but I did know there was a real hip hop culture force behind it, is mind blowing. Wow, Nore's comment about Hip Hop as a race blew me away... "Hip Hop first", then..." ❤ That's real.
This is how it used to be when Hip Hop wasn't accepted by the older generations, Hip Hop heads were like a gang FR. This is also why Nore always brings up "Hip Hop friendly establishments" and why he wants a Hip Hop flag.
I LOVE THAT COMMENT. NO SUCH THING AS "GUESTS" IN HIP HOP. NOBODY SHOULD EVER CALL SERCH A GUEST.

Thats a entire damn shame
Much respect to being married to Chantel for over 30 years. I remembered her in 3rd Bass' "Brooklyn/Queens" music video.
"98% of men and women over 30 stop listening to new music...after 30 you only go back to the artist you love." I felt that in my soul. It's the reason you will hear us old heads talk about how they don't make music like they used to. Respect Serch for the enlightenment and for being a 2%er.
Cool so im the 2% that always search for the new shiii
True
Yup.. it’s so true… my musical taste is pretty much strictly 90s to early 2000s shit. I’m talking about stuff like 90s mobb deep, big pun, big L, wu tang, cormega, Capone n Noreaga, boot camp cliq (Sean Price, Heltah Skeltah, Black Moon, Smif n Wesson), Kool G Rap, Rakim, Nas, AZ, Bone Thugs, EPMD, Pharcyde, Non Phixion, Lost Boyz, Gangstarr, 2Pac, Das EFX, Black Thought, DMX, A Tribe Called Quest, Group Home, the Lox, Dipset, Lord Finesse, Onyx, M.O.P., Naughty By Nature, Raekwon, Tragedy Khadafi, Biggie, etc etc etc
I could go on and on.. then you got some of the greatest R&B artists ever, such as Ginuwine, Jodeci, 112, Jagged Edge, Mario, Joe, Tyrese, Jon B, Donell Jones, Aaliyah, Mya, Boyz II Men, Blackstreet, Dru Hill, Brian McKnight, etc etc
My bad.. this comment is ridiculously long..

Serch admitted that there was a New York bias. Everybody else from places other than N.Y., felt it in the 80's and mid 90's.
I feel like it helped keep the quality and rawness of the music up but sometimes that shit went way too far... Booing Outkast at the Source Awards was super foul... Now dudes just jack the midwest and the south.
IDK, shit evolves, its not in nobody's control.
Tbh I always viewed nyc rap as a strong force for why the genre slowly became gritty and raw in the late 80’s and early 90’s b/c they started the genre, therefore their culture is kind of a driving force behind the music, b/c they are the original inspiration for the art. There’s always periods of experimentation, but then things like Griselda and TRUST come along bringing back that raw feeling that everyone knows and loves

This was a real treat to anyone who appreciates true Hip Hop! Being an 80’s baby obsessed with the music and culture this was absolutely amazing to watch. MC Search I loved his music and learned so much about his behind the scenes contributions. Things that I loved through the years from artists to brands I had no idea he was a part but I did know there was a real hip hop culture force behind it, is mind blowing. Searchlight I’ve known about but I never made the connection. And what’s crazy is when he talked about weed I feel the same I never paid for it and I haven’t smoked it in 15 years its just something I could do without and people think I’m crazy but I love having a clear mind... The excitement I have from watching this is timeless.
