I have a lot of respect for Serch. My uncle, who was only a few years older than me and was basically like my big brother, and who had gotten me into Hip-Hop music in the winter of 83/84), loved 3rd Bass and rocked them constantly. Seeing/hearing him gives me nostalgia for 89/90 - which was a very rough 2 years for me, but a time whose magic resonated above all the bullshit.
MC SERCH needs to do more interviews. He tells great stories. Drink Champs & Rap Radar need to contact him to do an interview.

Probably the best interview by Vlad. Vlad allowed the guy to speak and Serch is a great story teller and very intelligent.
3rd Bass was, as far as i know, the first hip hop group to show Memphis love on wax on Derelicts. They were on top of their game when they were around. Slick professionals dropping professional records. They absolutely stand up today if you dig them out and listen to them.

Serch is a legend. Facts! He may be humble to a fault. 3rd Bass was a huge influence for me personally. The first song I ever wrote in like 90 maybe 91 was called "Rip the Mic" and the breaks between verses was my DJ cutting on Serch saying "Let me rip the mic and go for mine". Salute.

I’m around the age range I never listened to him growing up but I like this interview. Won me over as a person and personality. Excellent stories and historical connections. Seems like a good hearted person.
I love this interview! As soon as I heard Pookie, I already knew what was up. These stories seriously fascinates me! Serch is seriously the best story teller! LOVED THIS oh yeah and he definitely schooled me on how to spell SERCH not search and BASS not base... wild but unique and I respect it!

I believe that story on Hammer, Hammer was harder than everybody gave him credit for and there's other rappers who dealt with Hammer, and the outcome was similar except w/o the contract hit for 50k as serch claimed they were told, hammer being an Oaktown OG was known for some of his beefs in the streets in his earlier years before he became the multi platinum selling artist, but that bullshit story he told about Bushwick bill was very much something he pieced together.

I enjoyed listen and watching the entire interview from MC Serch. I grew up on 3rd Bass as a kindergarten kid growing up in the Golden Age Hip-Hop era.
Loved 3rd Bass back in the day. I remember when Serch did morning radio in Detroit, he was really good. Great stories from Serch, one of the best interviews I've watched from Vlad👍👍

Met Serch at a bar in Orlando and he was a real cool dude. He walked by me and I said waddup and told him I was a fan. He stopped shook my hand looked me in the eye and said he appreciated it then he asked me where I was from and we spoke for a few minutes. Real humble guy.

My main beef with this is a personal one: Daddy Rich is not mentioned in more than a passing sentence. On the low he’s one of the greatest un-acknowledged DJs from that era. He was also a good friend of mine from childhood, who I watched work like a slave to become a master. So maybe I’m biased but damn, not a word about an East Flatbush 50’s legend. Why?

Great interview i watched the whole thing
As a white kid I was never into 3rd Bass back then. I liked their solo albums way better, especially Here it Comes.
That being said, I'm taking everything Serch said with a grain of salt. He's entertaining, true, but there were too many bridges burnt. Makes you wonder.
No mentioning of Daddy Rich, nothing about the break-up, the planned reunion, his beef with Pete Nice.
