I love Gohan's joints and the 3.0 articulation setup in general but the jury's still out for me on how his soft shirt thing ages over time

Yeah the rubber gi they did for both these figures are kinda ass. Hinders more than it helps. To be fair this was their first attempt at rubber clothes so there's gonna be some trial and error
Beast from an articulation standpoint probably has some of the smoothest joints out of the recent releases. Had a blast posing him. Though the rubbery shirt does interfere with the butterfly joints as you mentioned. Wish they could nail the QC so all figures are on that level, but sadly that’s not the case. I hope the new MHA Figuarts have really good QC, I’m looking forward to those ones.

You should try the DL customs head on the general release Gohan if you wanna have a beast with more shoulder mobility or you can shave the sleeves a bit.
I'm on the same journey of collecting every Dragonball SH Figuarts. Back when they first came out I had about the first 5 that were released. Then about 2 years ago I decided to start collecting them again. I'm now only missing the OG Beerus, OG Whis, and Zamasu. I didnt initially decide to collect them all, but I kept finding good deals that I couldnt turn down!
I feel ya on the "loving shf but dang they can be a lot of work to pose" I love the idea and potential of these figures, but for now I'll keep them in their box until I have more room to display them.
I found the most recent SSJ Vegeta at the Walmart I work at. Finding SH Figuarts in the wild is an awesome feeling.

The Beast Gohan is definitely a dope upgrade in terms of the joint articulation we've seen, though I think that new Legendary SSJ Goku from a year back is the best articulation/mold they've done to date. Hope more SHF figures get that treatment

Man, I started by DB Figuarts collection with the SuperHero Gohan, and it was the biggest mistake of my life.
For the past 2 years, every goddamn figure has come with new accessories for that stupid Gohan figure. And every time I come across a new Superhero figure, I feel forced to buy it so I have all of Gohan's accessories.
The absolute chokehold this line has on me is atrocious.
