- Oil Change. Learn everything there is to know about how to change your oil. Even if you know nothing about cars, after this video, you will be able to change the oil in your car, yourself. I go over every step in detail and teach you everything there is to know about changing your oil. How to change the engine oil in your car DIY. How to easily change the engine oil in your car the right way. You don't want to waste money by changing engine oil too soon, but also don't want to ruin the engine by changing it too late. Modern cars have changed, so have the rules of changing oil. DIY car repair.
Steps:
- Apply the handbrake, leave the car in gear or in "P" if automatic, lift the car and place the axel stands.
- Open the bonnet, pull out the dipstick and take off the oil cap.
- Get under the car and if there is a plastic cover beneath the engine, take it off. Then locate the oil sump, directly beneath the engine.
- Place the drain pan under the sump plug, undo the sump plug and let the oil drain into the pan.
- Locate the oil filter end unscrew it.
- There are two common oil filter types: "spin on" (you just undo it) and "cartridge" (you undo the plastic cover then replace just the filter element inside with the o-ring)
- When tightening back tight to a correct torque.
- Replace the washer on the sump plug, and DO NOT tighten too much.
- Fill the engine with the correct amount of oil.
- Put the dipstick and the oil cap in place, then start the engine and check for any leaks.
- Turn the engine off and check the oil level.

Great instructional video, just one question, do you normally use/run (engine oil 'flush') before draining the old oil? Thank you
Hi, before draining the oil I run the engine for about 15 minutes so the oil is warm, but I don't use any additive into the old oil, I just drain the old oil and wait until there isn't any oil left.
Can you tell me what size Allen key or what ever you used to undo the bolt to let the oil out.

What size torque for sump
I have a 2012 Focus 2.0 LW2 TDCi, are you able to tell me where the sump plug is? There are many screws from underneath the engine.

In my case the filter you can put it in any way but there are some that goes only in one direction.
Is valvoline 5w30 OK for 1.6 hdi
Hi, yes it's ok for a 1.6 HDI engine but if you have the dpf you need a "low SAPS" oil.
Is the same for a 3008 2.0 hdi

Hi, you can use this oil in your car but the engine is different same as the Renault one.

You forget to mention it is better heat the engine first. It will flow out faster.
