I hope that you check out much more ONE OK ROCK songs. The first two you saw, Taka was actually sick for that concert. Even though there are added effects because it's a studio album from my experience he'll make it sound even better live. I'd love for you to break down for he can sing without missing a beat while running jumping and headbanging. Their song "The Beginning" live at Yokohama stadium Mighty Long Fall tour is a great place to start. Wait until you hear him scream even better, more often, and singing, unlike in "Take what you want".
I love your technical reactions as much as I love other people's emotional reactions. Both his parents were singers and sold tens of millions of CDs. Genes prove he has musical talent. However, Taka excelled not only in his singing ability, but also in his ability to strive to improve himself. This is clear from the works he has published.
That part you where talking about at 6:30 the "make" sounds very open and clear is what i noticed first time i listened to the song. Hes amazing at working between singing in the back of his mouth and that gritty sound.
I really like your reactions and the way to explain Taka’s technique. It’s kind of hard to listen to what you say correctly because of my poor English though 😅 I’m going to keep watching this to improve my English listening ability! Thanks ❤ So please more ONE OK ROCK❤
I love love love your technical breakdown of Taka's voice here; as someone who used to study music education and took vocal lessons, I completely understand why you mention needing to be okay with sucking at something new to build it into your toolkit. I think I also like listening to how Taka uses the next word in the phrasing to "springboard" into the phrase a bit more and re-energize some of the hook. Looking forward to more of your work, Chris!
Taka does have quite a "squeaky" style of singing! I think it might be most noticeable in his cover of Adeles Hello, some people have described it as almost yodel -like. Would love for you to analyze it!
Their older songs are good too, e.g. Liar (there's so much going on in that song that even I, as an amateur can tell), Mighty long fall, One by one, Clock strikes. Or some of their new songs, e.g. Your tears are mine (experts says it's quite difficult to sing) or When they turn the lights on.
One other thing to note thats incredibly impressive i noticed with this song in particular, Taka's ability to sing in english has improved so much over to the years to the point where his recent songs legitimately sound like they could be from a native english singer
Just found your channel, and i love how your doing these video's!! Taka's voice is amazing, i love him for that unique voice he has, it reminds me of LiSA Another Japanese Singer, known for making epic openings in anime, but the way she puts her emotions into her voice. I honestly wish for a video in the furture of you reacting to her on the "first take"
"free, experimental and non judgemental" I love how you said that. That's the exact feeling i get from your video and it motivates me to sing along or try those techniques. OOR is my favorite band and I hope to see more reactions in the future, their live performance of wasted nights would be a great one to see.
Thank you for your reaction! Taka has an amazing voice. He can sing not only rock but also pop and ballads well. Please react “Adele-Hello” (cover by Taka) Taka is incredible in the original key sings so beautifully I would love to hear your opinion. We will all be blown away!!❤
I really enjoyed this video. I don’t know much about singing but your explanations with examples made things make sense for me, I’m happy to have learned more about Taka’s singing in this song because of you. Thank you 💙
if you want to hear more of his metal like scream vocals ish you can check out One By One Live from 35xxxv Japan Tour in Saitama Super Arena 2015, this shows off his metal vocals pretty well
Thank you for this video packed full with useful info. I don’t know this song, but a lot has clicked for me seeing this video and the little snippets like recognising when someone is using compression listening to the let down and sighing/yodelling is easier for me with these examples.
Thanks for the analysis! I've said this many times, I love Taka's old voice (2008-2013 era) more tbh. His voice used to be raspier and more solid. I think you'll like it, trust me! Please check One Ok Rock's old songs 'Liar' and 'C.h.a.o.s.m.y.t.h' (the studio version, the MV are available on their channel). Thanks
You should've seen this live at the One Chance Festival 2023 ... it was incredible (video is on YT). It has some added variance to this Studio version that highlights Taka's voice even further.
Thank you, Chris for coming back to ONE OK ROCK, cuz I thought the last time when you listened to Taka's singing for Chester had made you disappointed a little. I appreciate those ppl who recommend you to listen Taka again. I enjoyed and understand well your explanation about Taka's vocal technique.Thank you.
Love him and hope to see the band live! Chris you should also do a video on Hyde he has a more agressive style than Taka I think you would like him as well!
It's still so hard to believe Taka started out as a J-pop idol. What a waste of a phenomenal singer that would have been. His voice was ALWAYS meant for rock. I would love to hear you react to a few OOR songs: I WAS KING ruclips.net/video/RxCEMy022Do/видео.html TAKING OFF
Please, analyze Satoshi Fujihara (Official髭男dism). Songs like 'Mixed Nuts', 'Apoptosis' or 'Chessboard'. I would recommend 'Cry Baby', too, but there are many videos of that. So, I think you would make the difference if you talked about them.
Hi Chris, I would love for you to check out Lucas Woodland of "Holding Absence". He has some incredible live performances you can watch here on RUclips that I think you would really like, and I would be super interested in analysis from you.
Taka’s voice is so smooth and has so much grit at the same time. Incredible voice and work put into mastering his voice.
この人マジで発声上手い
takaっぽい歌い方で嫌な感じせずに耳に入ってくる人この人くらいだわ
同感❤
I'm not a vocalist nor am I trying to be one, but your breakdown of Taka's vocals is so interesting and I love it.
Glad you're enjoying the breakdowns!
this video made me realize once again how godly Taka's vocal is
You are back.... Thank you.

Would love for you to react of an acoustic ver of their song called “You’re tears are mine”. Really love this song!
That part you where talking about at 6:30 the "make" sounds very open and clear is what i noticed first time i listened to the song. Hes amazing at working between singing in the back of his mouth and that gritty sound.
I've been listening to this song on loop since it dropped and I'm glad you took a look at it:)
This hit real hard the first time I listened to it
My favourite One OK Rock song is LOST AND FOUND, mainly because of the backing vocals
I really like your reactions and the way to explain Taka’s technique. It’s kind of hard to listen to what you say correctly because of my poor English though 😅
I’m going to keep watching this to improve my English listening ability! Thanks ❤
So please more ONE OK ROCK❤

This song goes soo hard!! For such a pop-y vibe lol. Was nice to watch, the always, beautifully done breakdown of it❤️🔥💯
Love the grit. That “tonight” 🤩.
Continue listening to OOR. Thanks!

You should listen to Clock Strikes in Luxury Disease Japan Tour 2023.
saw them support Muse in Milan a few weeks ago they were very good.
That'd be a great show!!
@@chrisliepe It was Royal Blood as well it was in the San Siro football stadium alas they looked like ants on the stage as we were up in the Gods.

Taka is a Linkinpark of Japan.

Oh yes!!!
Could you do a reaction/analysis of Imagine Dragons new song "Children of the Sky"? It has some really neat vocal textures
