I'm getting hit by everything, I can't cancel out of attacks or guards, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to control when Cloud goes up in the air with the enemy or stays on the ground like a dipshit whiffing his attacks
Hey look an action rpg that doesnt lock 90% of your moves behind cooldowns, 5% on a dog that isnt avaible in half the story missions, and the rest on a weapon that only has 3 combo strings
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I felt the exact same about xvi. thank god rebirth is an actual cool sandbox without awful cooldowns and the dog thing. cloud has more combos here than clive does end game its so funny
I know they got the dmc5 battle director but I think he either came too late or they tried way too hard to mix dmc and mmo combat(lol) which doesnt work nearly as well as 7r mixing action and atb @@kermitwithamustache3885
@@lan1719 Not just capcom devs, they had help from Platinumgames, the KH team, people who had experience making good action combat, its a shame that this was the end result cause it was spearheaded by MMO guys MP/ATB is the way to go, it actually engages you to play as you get your abilities by manually managing a meter as you fight rather than the game limiting your moveset with cooldowns
funny how the game that wants to be a pure action game fails at it while also not being an rpg anymore meanwhile ffvii rebirth leans hard into it’s jrpg roots AND is made by people who understand what action games need no cooldowns is not a surprise. kingdom hearts ii staff have been on the remake project!
To initiate the aerial combo dodge(which puts you into the ranged attack combo) and anytime during that you can hold square instead of tapping it which will fling cloud at an enemy! So dodge hold square or dodge tap square until you want to zoom to them and then hold
So when cloud goes into punisher mode in the sky he does a falling slash and if you press triangle after he falls he will do that "reversal strike" through the enemy. He will also do the reversal if you press triangle after a punisher mode parry or if you are attacking with punisher modes combo and you press triangle after letting one of the hit animations play out. Its a really cool tool that can immediatley get you to evade behind an enemy as well as having launching properties if they are pressured when you hit it. and so many ways to get into that reversal strike as well. Def just mess around with it with the above in mind and youll start to see when it activates more and more

Glad someone else thinks cooldowns aren't good, they're such an unengaging thing to put in a game that was inspired by Devil May Cry out of all things
