You mentioned not to Use Jojoba Oil on Oily skin whereas I read many articles saying that Jojoba is amongst the only few oils suitable for all skin types including oily
Hi Dr V, my skin is no longer dry and appears much plumper since I’ve been double hydrating with Certraben and organic rose hip oil from The Ordinary. I’ll be 69 years old in a few weeks and my skin has never looked so hydrated. I’m hooked!!! Thank you soooo much. ❤️
Hi, can you do a video for skin that is hyperpigmentated(with large pores) and oily, acne prone please? I looked at your The Ordinary videos on these subjects, but wasn't sure which one would be most suitable for my skin, or how to combine both routines. Thanks.
Nice! I actually put the facial oils last because logically, in my head, if I put the oil before my moisturizer, it will just trap it there and make my skin super oily! I use jojoba oil since I’m in California and the climate is always dry, even during the winter seasons.
One thing I wanted to bring attention to and hope Dr V you can talk about; how different health conditions can affect/cause acne. I recently was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which explains a lot of my hormonal acne. It started with requesting a blood test from my doctor as I noticed more and more hormonal acne every month. I'd highly recommend this approach to people who are struggling with similar symptoms. It's only now that what Dr V has been recommending for hyperpigmentation after bouts of acne do I see a difference with the products I'm using. Hope this helps anyone in the same boat :)
I have just recently become aware of this correlation. I have cystic acne that got bad month after month. It was unresponsive to EVERYTHING i tried. I also at the same time that i was getting so sensitive to cold ( i live in Texas 🔥 and this summer i had to wear my winter socks and hoodie in the house). This is a telltale sign of a low functioning thyroid, which also impacts uptake of B12 which then becomes a domino effect in about every function of the body. Now that i have been taking something to support the thyroid, i can see the wheels turning. Its only been less than 2 weeks, am so excited to see what happens long term.

I understand that facial oils sit on top of our skin (some dermatologists also say that it’s better to wear them before your creams) but I don’t agree that all of them do not penetrate. Rosehip oil and borage oil are excellent for reducing acne marks easily. That means a significant amount of their vitamin a and vitamin c penetrates into our skin, it means that their calming properties and anti-aging benefits derive from their absorption, whereas they could not do anything and we wouldn’t see results.

I've made the mistake of putting facial tea tree oil on my face and my skin went crazy. Huge pimples in areas that I usually never breakout in. Still suffering with the hyperpigmentation it left and the terrible scars. So no to advertised facial oils.
Please Dr can you do a video on hormonal acne? I keep getting breakouts which are filled with puss, weather I squeeze the zits of not they still lead to dark marks and scars and though i have very dry skin
Thank you so much for these videos Dr. Vanita. I did have a question, I read some ayurveda books many years ago and they recommended to use plant oils only for moisturizing, so ever since then that is all I use as moisturizer and it has been really really good for me. I've been doing that for 16 years now and my skin today looks the same as it did when I started. However the ayurveda books also said to use a tiny amount of essential oils diluted in the main oil for problems, for example lavender EO to calm or disinfect your skin, tea tree oil for acne etc. Only a tiny amount. What would be your take on ayurvedic skincare routines?
Please make a video of cleansing oils/ balms, are they absolute necessary for makeup and sunscreen removal?. Do micellar water create irritation and cause premature wrinkles since they take more time and little more rubbing than oil cleansers/ balm? Please also clarify are they totally safe for every acne prone skin and make some recommendations for oily acne prone skin.
Yeaaay, so excited about this video! Dr V, are nano particles as effective as normal sized particles of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide in sunscreens, in blocking UV and visible light? Thank you so much for your work! 😘
hello Dr vanita, I make my own moisterizer using shea butter which smells so bad. I use to add essential oils to make it smell good. what should i use now?
Hi Dr. V, Is Coconut Oil good to apply on your face? I've heard of coffee scrub oil you mix with coconut oil, coffee grounds and brown sugar. Is that good for you
I'm guessing because it's a humectant that will pull in moisture. If you have consistent acne then glycerin will keep the acne spots and exposed skin humid and that can lead to more accumulation of bacteria in that area. Which ultimately would not be good for healing and may lead to more breakouts in the surrounding area.
Hi Dr, Thanks a lot for your great videos!! I have an acne prone skin and i have been using a little bit of aloevera plus jojoba oil and it really made a huge improvement, i thought jojoba oil is regulating the sebum level on the skin and that is the oil to consider for acne issue, could you please explain why it is best to avoid it, and what's the alternative for an acne prone skin. Thanksss

How abt rose hip oil. I have hyperpigmentation n acne!! I was recommended to use “the ordinary Rosehip oil”. Pl advice it will help me to make right choice🙏🏻🙏🏻
Niacinamide is most stable and effective at a pH of 5.5-6.(skins normal pH). It can get degraded at lower pH. Hence do not mix chemical exfoliators with it. You may apply niacinamide after a minimum gap of 2hrs (after exfoliation.) well, its better not to add actives right after exfoliation, .Just come behind with good moisturisers and help strengthen your skin barrier. hope this helps. 💛

Hey Dr. V!!! There’s this Ascorbyl acid 10 + Alpha Arbutin 2% from the ordinary. Can it be used instead of magnesium ascorbyl phosphate and Alpha Arbutin 2% (in combination)? Both these products are out of stock and this one seemed to have similar acids put in 1. Please please please help me choose
Yes, you can use that one, only don't combine it with niacinamide same dat. If you use niacinamide, do it in alterned days.
Greettings!
Try PaulasChoice brand its similar to ordinary.
She has actually recommended this one in a past video. The eye circle one i believe. Its a nice affordable one
I had the same question. I hope she answers this.
She recommended the vitamin c derivative which was the Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% 30ml

Well how good are these for normal to oil skin or acne prone skin ? Are these good oil Suitable for all types of skin?
Could you add a list of the products you recommend in your link below. I think you used to do this previously.
I will x
Hi Dr. V. Thank you for this video. You said that the oil should be applied after moisturizer and it acts as barrier to prevent water loss. But as the benefits of the oils are actually not getting into skin, how and when can these oils be applied to get those benefits?
What about Rosehip seed oil? I am using it for acne and acne scars that I have. Would it help, as I have heard so much about it but didn't see it in your list. Thanks!
Are you using The Ordinary's rose hip oil?
@@zd5116 is the ordinary one good?
@@sunsun6877 I haven't used it....I'm steering away from TO because they're products don't layer well with my other skincare products and their Nicinamide breaks me out
It’s such a blessing to have someone doctor like you who have concern with skin colour like me.thank you so much doc. God bless
Thank you Dr. V for all your knowledge and recommendations for skin of colour! I’m learning so much from you. My skin got very irritated from using an cleansing oil containing essential oils and fragrance. But I’ve since returned this product. I now know better! Starting using rosehip oil and it’s done wonders for my skin :)
I used rosehip oil and argan oil together and I feel fantastic.
Yes please, Doc ! And also, thank you for all that you do for us brown skin girls ❤️ This skincare education is truly priceless! Love from India x
Thank you!!
I love jojoba oil and was struggling deciding when to apply it. Glad to hear I don’t have skip any of my skin care steps
What steps do you use please in order to get proper skin 😅😅😢😢
Hi Doctor, pls do a video on how to reduce fine lines, wrinkles around the eyes.
And did I tell you that I am hooked to you channel ❤️🙂
Thanks Dr. V!
¿Which of the oils you mentioned as good for the skin are also non-comedogenic and/or good for combination skin?
Yes, how about coconut oil? Thank you for such a Great agreat channel 😘 ❤ 🙏
I think tats the best oil but it's not mention
I've made the mistake of putting facial tea tree oil on my face and my skin went crazy. Huge pimples in areas that I usually never breakout in.
Still suffering with the hyperpigmentation it left and the terrible scars.
So no to advertised facial oils.
Please Dr can you do a video on hormonal acne? I keep getting breakouts which are filled with puss, weather I squeeze the zits of not they still lead to dark marks and scars and though i have very dry skin
Yes. Please do the video on how you double moisturize and how you triple hydrate. I would like to hear about both.
Does Tea Tree Oil treat Milia and is suggested for skin care ?
Pls pls make a video about mild indented scars on the face, and keloid scar after caesarian section! 🙏 thanks.
Please make a video of cleansing oils/ balms, are they absolute necessary for makeup and sunscreen removal?. Do micellar water create irritation and cause premature wrinkles since they take more time and little more rubbing than oil cleansers/ balm? Please also clarify are they totally safe for every acne prone skin and make some recommendations for oily acne prone skin.
absolutely x
What about micro-needling at home?
Yesssssss. Doctor if all this oil are to prevent epidermal loss which oils are treatment oils?
As always well delivered, l love your principled character" my videoes will never be sponsered "🤗🇿🇦
Thanks for the video, but what about coconut oil? Is it good to use on my face?
Yeaaay, so excited about this video! Dr V, are nano particles as effective as normal sized particles of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide in sunscreens, in blocking UV and visible light? Thank you so much for your work! 😘
Shes talked about it, said no. The smaller the less protection you get. For soc, she recommends larger particle zinc is best to help with pigmentation
@@hithere8140 thank you! Apparently I didn't pay attention well enough so I'm grateful that you're helping me out! ❤️
I have used lavender oil and almond oil together for years to treat acne.
please explain about "B" oil from the ordinary, thank you Dr. V😊
hello Dr vanita, I make my own moisterizer using shea butter which smells so bad. I use to add essential oils to make it smell good. what should i use now?
Hey Dr V, very useful video. Thank you. Any views on the Ordinary Rosehip seed oil?
Yes to double moisturiser and triple hydration. Thanking you in advance.
Dr. V I love the way u explain everything it makes it so easier to understand
Hi Dr. V,
Is Coconut Oil good to apply on your face? I've heard of coffee scrub oil you mix with coconut oil, coffee grounds and brown sugar. Is that good for you
Yes and yes for double moisturizer or triple hydration ❤️
Castor oil? Good for hair growth? Especially brows and lashes?
Please review this oil
Thanks
In your hyaluronic acid video you had mentioned that, glycerine should be avoided by oily acne prone skin, why so?
Maybe bcoz its not fungal acne safe
I'm guessing because it's a humectant that will pull in moisture. If you have consistent acne then glycerin will keep the acne spots and exposed skin humid and that can lead to more accumulation of bacteria in that area. Which ultimately would not be good for healing and may lead to more breakouts in the surrounding area.
Hi, I was informed that olive oil is bad, as it breaks down skin cells. But listed here as good/safe.
How do I make sense of this?
Hi Dr, Thanks a lot for your great videos!! I have an acne prone skin and i have been using a little bit of aloevera plus jojoba oil and it really made a huge improvement, i thought jojoba oil is regulating the sebum level on the skin and that is the oil to consider for acne issue, could you please explain why it is best to avoid it, and what's the alternative for an acne prone skin. Thanksss
DR.V YOU ARE THE BEST SAVED MY SKIN AND GIVE NATURAL ALTERNATIVES I TRY TO STAY FROM TOO MUCH CHEMICALS HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT SHEA BUTTER AS A SECOND LAYER AFTER MOISTURIZER
I love 💘 your videos especially since they are tailored specifically for women off color, the skincare industry has seriously been abusing us with their products, I have switched to a skincare routine that involves more natural products making my own face masks using moringa and black African soap, and Apricot oil is the bomb great for skin right after a bath, thank you new subscriber and will share with all my friends and family 👏🏿
As Dr V mentioned carrot oil is a good facial oil
But I have a bit of confusion as in is Carrot (Daucus Carota) Seed Oil is a good one? Is it a skin sensitizer? Especially if it is one of the ingredients in Sunscreen?
It would be very helpful if I get help with this from Dr V.
Thank You.
Anju Sunny.
Glad I found you Dr. V 🥺, thank you so much 🙏🏾.
How abt rose hip oil. I have hyperpigmentation n acne!! I was recommended to use “the ordinary Rosehip oil”. Pl advice it will help me to make right choice🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi Dr.V, can we use paula's choice exfoliator and niacinamide from ordinary together? Thank you ❤💛🧡
pls answer!!!!
Niacinamide is most stable and effective at a pH of 5.5-6.(skins normal pH). It can get degraded at lower pH. Hence do not mix chemical exfoliators with it. You may apply niacinamide after a minimum gap of 2hrs (after exfoliation.)
well, its better not to add actives right after exfoliation, .Just come behind with good moisturisers and help strengthen your skin barrier.
hope this helps. 💛
@@ReethuVincy22444422 Thanks a lot ❤😊
Use niacinamide in the morning and the BHA at night.
