The guy not only made it possible for you to communicate with the locals, he has such knowledge about the lands and is so eloquent in english that he really offered you a glimpse into the soul of the local people. To me one your best explorations/expositions you have done in all your years. To be able to relinquish your leading role and allow yourselves the opportunity to seat on the passenger's seat seat for us during this journey and allow your very passionate and knowledgeable local guide to be on the driver's seat for all of us was the wisest decision you could have made! Kudos to you guys for doind this. It made this journey so much more worth seeing and enjoying it as much as you must have enjoyed it! On a side note, your guide deserves a huge acclamation as well. He seemed to know exactly what chords he needed to strike to make this not only an enjoyable documentary to watch but also one full of teachable moments!

Beautiful books. I have most years from 1925-1975 in my collection and a great resource to look at with amazing early technology colour photos.
Imagine that in the very beginning of human history, many centuries ago, all people were living similar to that, in pristine landscapes as well. What do you think about that?
@@bwturbexI’m all made up from mediterranean descent,,, am I saying that right? Italian and Greek with a little Japanese. I often just wonder how they lived life hundreds or even thousands of years ago, I think we all have curiosity. I wonder what they looked like and how they lived life. I wonder what their village was like. This was a beautiful video. The people were so welcoming and friendly. It was so clean and peaceful , and I wonder if I could be happier that way of living than what this I live now. I grew up in the 80s and 90s with minimal technology ( we were very poor) life seemed to go slower, time was slower. Since the 2000s , my life has passed me by so fast, so quickly that, I don’t know where the last 15 years of my life went. I just felt the serenity and the peace in your video ❤
Your tour guide is a good story teller. I didn't even realized that the video is already over as I got hooked with his narrative of the last, remaining nomads.
I think this is the most fascinating video I've ever watched on your channel. It was a real Joy to see a throwback to a different time and way of life. @@bwturbex Try both. I mean, it's not impossible. Do you know for example "Weit. Die Geschichte von einem Weg um die Welt"? Two germans traveled over 3 years around the world. They documented this journey. After returning they started a crowdfunding campaign and made a movie which is available as DVD. It also was shown in cinemas. They received a Filmpreis for it. Give it a try, i would definitely buy a copy 😎👍

It gave me chills when your guide said their older brother doesn’t come very often anymore, to think that may be the last of them in the mountains. Stay safe out there!!
Living close to the land is a lost art yet so vitally important to sustain the enviroment. There will come a time in not to distant when people will want to know the survival skills. In some regard this vid reminds me of older folk living hard in remote areas of Iran. The future doesn't seem like a very loving or sane place to be. Congrats on the National Geo book! We'll have to figure out with the publisher but we would love to. It would make a lot of sense, but it depends a bit on how successful the first one will be I guess.
I was surprised that the language is so similar to Bulgarian - I could understand many of the words and question of the guide. How wonderful that they are still there, following their tradition but sadly not for much longer. A truly magical place. Untouched and beautiful. I would imagine that they are far happier than 90% of people living a "modern" lifestyle. It amazes me how they got some of those materials there for the roofing on the first and second house. All that would have had to be carried there. Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience.
Assimilation of Albanians is so obvious in Montenegro. They used the Albanian word Katund for village instead of Selo the slavic word, even that far of Albanian border.

Hey, auf unserer Seite ist alles gut! Keine Sorge. Wir haben erst unser Buch mit National Geographic veröffentlicht, an dem wir monatelang hart gearbeitet haben. 🖤 Jetzt brauchen wir erstmal bisschen Pause und sind darum den Sommer über mit anderen Projekten beschäftigt. Ab Herbst geht's wieder an in den Videoschnitt für diesen Kanal. 😁 Wir haben noch endlos spannendes Material auf Lager!

I was surprised that the language is so similar to Bulgarian - I could understand many of the words and question of the guide. How wonderful that they are still there, following their tradition but sadly not for much longer. A truly magical place. Untouched and beautiful. I would imagine that they are far happier than 90% of people living a "modern" lifestyle.
It amazes me how they got some of those materials there for the roofing on the first and second house. All that would have had to be carried there. Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience.
Balkan languages have many similarities, and especially the music is very similar across the region.

Assimilation of Albanians is so obvious in Montenegro. They used the Albanian word Katund for village instead of Selo the slavic word, even that far of Albanian border.
