I have changed from sage smart grinder pro to esp and it has been a game changer for me. I had constant issue with Sage and dialing in. Very inconsistent and taste was mostly bitter all the time. With encore it’s 2 clicks and done.
I had the original Encore a few years ago, and applied a hack to it that involved moving a screw and repositioning the scale (or something similar, it really was years ago). Anyway, it sort-of allowed you to grind for sort-of espresso.
Yeah you can shim the burrs on the original encore, just adding more washers, but the only issue with that was that even though that can enable fine enough grinding, you're still moving the burrs a lot with each click, while with the new ESP you're only moving the burrs a very small amount with each click for the first 20 clicks. Cheers 🙂
@@Coffee_Kev You can always mod it for the continuous range to help with the big jumps a bit, but I agree that it's still difficult to get that fine control
Kevin I was thinking that the reason my medium roast espresso is bitter no matter what I do is that the beans are too old.. I have tried so many combinations and even get sour and bitter together with smaller yields??
It could be to do with the age of the beans, are we talking supermarket commodity beans with no roasted on date, or freshly roasted beans that are a bit past their best? Cheers, Kev.
@@kenroman777 OK yeah I'd say that's possibly the taste profile of those beans, the roast date isn't going to help but I'd imagine they'd probably taste similar if you bought them much closer to roast date.
Interested in buying this grinder but Baratza don't distribute themselves in the UK right? Are coffeehit reliable to deal with issues if they come up? I've heard good things about Baratza's customer support and wonder if their distributor will be the same?
Im in a coffee hole here, kev. Stumbled upon your channel after back surgery. Now I've purchased a bambino Plus. However, i dont know what grinder or even what coffee to buy. Just fancy a flat white, latte, etc. Can you cup a coffee fart, smother me with it, and make it all make sense, please 😅

Love your content! what grind setting did you find best for Sage Bambino? Thanks!
Really enjoy your content 😂‼️
Thanks :-)
What would be a good grinder for pour over? I have a Moccamaster KBGV and I’m trying to buy a grinder that would be a good pair. Thanks!
