To be fair the spanish crown banned slavery before columbus arrived in the Americas. And the catholic church togther with the crown punished anyone that was found to have engaging in genocide or slavery. They specifically told the new world bound people to not mistreat the natives. people that came to Americas didn't follow the rules. A lot of the people that settled in the Americas were exiles and criminals.

Not _completely._ We could probably figure out steam engines pretty fast if given skilled blacksmiths (or years to learn to bang some iron ourselves) and expendable operators (for the ones that go boom). Could potentially help with establishing some branches of maths before their time, too. Particularly anything cryptologic (that needs machines to calculate within any reasonable timeframe). And invent paper if that isn't a thing yet. And worse comes to worst, we always have the skill to spin some poor-quality cordage and make our own super impure iron blooms. Oh, and making salt from saltwater in sunny regions, or potentially play around with urine if I remember any cody labs (it was his channel that did those, right?) videos. And staying away from glowy rocks.
If they got computers (or at least transistors) then I can suddenly do a whole lot more tho!.. :p
... I probably have a few more standalone skillsets I forgot, and I could always revolutionize multiple fields bigtime simply by serving as a ideaboard for professional craftsmen who actually know what they are doing to throw questions at and get a general guideline of sensible directions to research (like I can _sort of_ describe sulfur or some other elements).

You also need to develop coal industry and metallurgy.
Fun fact. Steam engines were invented in ancient Greece, maybe even earlier, but because they didn't know about coal it couldn't produce enough power to do anything useful.
But, yeah, steam engine would be among the easier things to reinvent. Printing books, for example, would require a lot more skill and knowledge.

@@nickknife9681 yeah, but i think they had coal in the medieval ages or atleast they knew how to burn wood and from it you can make some coal. Not effective as the mined but effective. As for metallurgy the first engine wasn't made exactly with metal if i remember well, or it was but they didn't before because you didn't have a motive to bend metal, so if you can create in a wood form just to demonstrate for them and explain that metal made is more resilient it would give a motive for them to improve metallurgy. But yeah the steam engine is the most simple yet revolutonary discovery

honestly in this scenario I feel like I wouldn't be completely useless.
Like, west. You need to sail west. That's not hard. And I could pretty easily tell Columbus "hey, it's not a straight shot to Asia. There's a whole other massive landmass worth 2 continents in between you and Asia, and if you try and go around it north, you'll freeze, and since the panama canal doesn't exist yet you need to go around it south, which is like, VERY close to the absolute southern point of the world, and it will take you over a year to get to Asia since you don't know it's geography yet, so... might not be worth it. However if you try colonizing the landmass, you could get some serious street cred... but it has inhabitants, and don't enslave them. Leave them be, colonize the parts of the land they don't occupy, make trade with them, try to be friends. Otherwise history will remember you as a fucking monster. Anyways the new continent is about a months sail trip west, good luck!"
That was pretty complicated but I COULD do it.

a great exercise in maturity is finding or writing your own time-travelers field guide just in case and carry that with you at all times. Include psychological norms and regulations for each era (useful for both genders, but sometimes more useful to one gender to avoid being burned on a stake or being tied up and lowered into water) as ancient people were on rare occasions scared of ideas, also bring some technologies that would be easy to create and seem like magic to its time and also simple to advanced knowledge about poisonous and medicinal plants and how to identify them without pictures, knowledge about how to navigate without technology + how to make soap and toilet paper.

Principia Mathematica, How to Invent Everything, NAND to Tetris, a couple of other computing books, and How to Rebuild Civilization in the Aftermath of a Cataclysm. I think I'm covered here, except for a document on the USB standard (if I ever want to charge my phone again), a document on the metric standard (so I can measure the volts, since that's required for the previous step), a book on plant and mineral identification (if that sort of thing doesn't already exist in the disaster rebuilding books), the AVX512 standard, the C standard, and perhaps a book on linear algebra because that's useful for quantum computing. But those are details, honestly; I've got my ass covered on general data, I think.

Depending how long you stay in the past can affect it, also if you make a bunch of 1 day trips and return to the momemt you left each time you would definitely accumulate age from all the time spent not in the present and the easiest way to track that is to just account for it every time you time travel.
