The silhouette segment is one of my favourites from the series. I also really appreciate the fact that they kept the switches dark, but had a light to show where they were, which is something Mania didn't do in Oil Ocean
Imo, this is definitely one of the best levels in this version of the game, It's honestly a surprise that the atmospheric environments, the way the colors mesh together, the soundtrack and the level design itself have flowed together the way they did. It's honestly a shame that the game never really prioritized that due to the constant experimentation present and the lack of confidence in the established formulas. It's stuff like this that made the game have major potential, at least for a one-time thing.
Well, you can't have new, innovative ideas without experimentation. If the guys at Sonic Team are wise, they'll look at what worked in this game and what didn't and use that knowledge for upcoming games. (Which they didn't for Sonic Forces.)
I was excited for this one, thanks for filling in my request. This is one of my favourite levels in the game, admittedly the level can be awkward on a first time playthrough but once you get the hang of it the stage is pretty fun to go through it seems a lot of games these days have some sort of silhouette stage, this game has one, DKC Returns has one obviously, Rayman Origins has one and even Mario 3D World has one.
Really? It looked to me like Sonic kicked them straight at Zor. But yeah, even then, this owl robot looks like it took way more damage than it should, especially comparing it to the moon robot Zazz uses or the dragon robot Zavok uses.
you need to charge your homing attack, stand next to the target, and let the homing reticle gain extra circles in the center, then you can homing attack and do more damage
I can see this boss fight being really bad if you don't hit him right away but I beat the boss on my first try really fast. It feels like he should have had a second cycle or something. Anyone else get Crash Bandicoot vibes from the music a bit?
A lot of this game's soundtrack sound like they were pulled from other games. Windy Hill Zone 2's sounds like it could fit in a Yoshi game, as is Desert Ruins Zone 4 with New Super Mario Bros. I actually had a bunch of trouble with this boss because the Homing Attack kept sending Sonic into one of Zor's silhouettes. By the time I could get a good clean hit on Zor, it gets dark again.

3:50 I can't call this a "boss battle".
Badnik Watch #20
1:32 Burrobot - Sonic the Hedgehog (1991), Labyrinth
This stage is actually really cool. If the entire game had ideas that _worked_ and wasn't so experimental, it could've been something great

I have to say, this stage quite befits the mood of the boss.
Dark, crying, blue lighting.

Yeah, that's why I call it "2010s video game dark." Ever since it appeared in Donkey Kong Country Returns, everyone wants to do it.
I wouldn't be surprised if Tropical Freeze had a silhouette stage or if any new platformers coming out have one
2:56 I’ve always wanted to see what that loop looks like without the silhouette
Well, technically Sonic kicked those orbs into the owl to knock Zor off. I don't think that explains how it got damaged that much...

OKAY WTF!!!! EVERY BOSS VIDEO I HAVE SEEN WILL HIT THEM ONE OR TWO TIMES AN THEY WIN BUT I HAVE TO HIT HIM A MILLION TIMES?!?!?! WHY?!?!
Are you hitting Zor and not his clone, and hitting him when the lights are on?
*****
Press the jump button again when you're in midair. Same as the Homing Attack in every other game (except Sonic Unleashed).
you need to charge your homing attack, stand next to the target, and let the homing reticle gain extra circles in the center, then you can homing attack and do more damage
Why was it necessary to take damage? It could be achieved without purposely taking it

Most "hard" boss
Eggy: 3:09-3:11 fav part
3:52 zor again???
I think you're thinking of Mario Bros 3's Bowser, not World Bowser.
Thank you. I'll go edit the description.
tell me how in the heck he defeated the boss in one hit.
Because he waited the circle bar on him to fill up and then homing attack him.
I would object, but I'm too "emo/goth" to care.
How do you get out of the Grabber?
+MandL27 I wiggled the control stick and mashed the buttons.
***** Ah. I've tried just buttonmashing and nothing seems to happen, so maybe it's the stick that gets Sonic free.
