@@GeeCeeWU actually that's not really true. I'm a serious swimmer and have shoulders/back more developed than the average guy my size. Most shirts I pick that fit well on top are too billowy through the torso. You need to get shirts that are cut to your size (e.g Indochino), then you'll look awesome.
@@onsenguy I have to admit you are quite right, whenever I found a shirt that fitted comfortably around the neck, it was too big in the body. I guess made to measure is the only way to go for a good look. As for awesome, I think it will take a bit more than a bespoke shirt to make me look awesome, but thanks anyway.
I discovered your channel just yesterday and already learned so much. Thank you Ashley for the useful tips. Speaking of tucking, can you do an episode on the different ways to tuck your shirt? I'm especially curious to learn the best way to keep them tucked and not ride up. Thanks!
wow.. i am glad i found this channel... your videos deserves many many more views ashley.... this channel is going to do very well in the coming days.. god bless you.
As a long time sufferer of baggy dress shirt syndrome (very, very difficult to find shirts that fit right off the shelf/rack) I am going to add that I have never had any success with the 'military tuck' and I definitely did get a much better fit by having a cheaper shirt tailored as an experiment. However, when you do have a shirt tailored make sure you do not make the same mistake I did and have back darts added as well! Back darts will make a lot of shirts look weird.
Maverick Loneshark Right? It’s good for pictures but not for practicality since it always comes undone when you raise your arms. If your shirt is that billowy that you need to use that technique, it never looks good but if you get slim enough, you’ll never have that problem.
Can you please make a video on the most important essentials for a teen to have. As much as I love all these things you show, 90% are too expensive for me, so I can't have them all. So even if you made a video on what order to buy these essentials that you have talked about, that would be so so helpful.
This channel is seriously pretty amazing! I follow all the big names in men style and felt I knew a lot... I actually just took 23 dress shirts to the tailor because I just didn't know what the exact fit of a dress shirt was. This info is priceless! P.S. - The production quality on this is superb. (Do you do it all yourself?) I wouldn't be surprised if you had 50x the subscribers in a few months.
Hello Ashley, Thank you so much for all of the details on how the dress shirt should fit. I have been wondering and there has not been a source with such detail descriptions. Subscribed and will follow your channel. Keep rocking :D
I have worn 17/34 in a full fit with good results, but I bought a nice shirt in the same size but slimmer fit, and the cuff rides up when I bend my arm. When I am driving, I it is a good 2" from my wrist. I am thinking that 17/35 might be better. What do you think?
Hey there...This video is a great work from uh and it helped me a lot..Bt can uh plz make a video on trousers... that how should it fit...? And what kind of material is much appropriate..? I used to wear NARROW NO-BREAK Trouser and a liitle stretchable material so my legs doesn't stuck in trouser when I narrow it.. and yeah thanks for these beautiful tips..
Thanks for this great guide Ashley. I completely agree that there's no excuse for billowing at the waist on shirts. I have been trying to find off-the-rack shirt companies that have a tapered fit rather than just the typical slim fit that I need to get tailored at the waist. In searching online I have come across Batch Men's, Hugh & Crye and Express Athletic Fit. Can you recommend any?
Hi Ashley, thanks for the great explanation. I have a question. There is a crease below the upper button. Some of my shirts have it as well. I consider it a flaw and don't feel comfortable wearing it. Am I wrong?
+Ashley Weston Sure. The shirt on this photo has the same issue. karrierebibel.de/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Hemdwerk06.gif It's a crease on the placket below the upper button. It's the same with the shirt in the video I think.
Question...So I went to a fancy shop today i was measured and it appears I am 15 neck 36 sleeve. Basically no store seems to have these two sizes together. is it better to go for 15 34/35? oppose to 16.5 36/37?
Many shirts have two buttons on the cuff. If you use the outer one on a 15 34/35 it will make the sleeve longer. I would ask to try on a 15 34/35. They can always refold it if the sleeve is too shirt. Same with a 16 36/37. As in the video, I think the too big neck will be very noticeable. Better off with slightly shorter arms. You can also look for a tailor that makes custom shirts. They're not that expensive. Or a brand maybe on the internet that has exact sizes.
Any idea of where to get shirts that fits someone that in and between a small and a medium? I like shirts (casual and dress shirts!) but its always something I hate buying. I tend to wear small to have a good fit, but because of my shoulders I need to go a size up which messes all.
You know what really helped me since my weight fluctuates? I just get stretchy shirts. That way, I can go a little tighter if needed and it’s more forgiving.
cute girl. And I would recommend Yeabarron custom shirt online to customize - you might go through the professional customization process until you find the best fit but Amazon makes that process pretty easy
High armholes are a sign of sartorial quality. They exclude a lot of customers, but they allow for more movement and hugging without the shirt coming out of your pants. Italians like to hug.
Ashley, you have great info, but idk if anyone else has noticed... its very hard to concentrate when someone is staring at you so cold/dead im not trying to hate on that guy, these are my genuine feelings when watching this video
Hello Ashley! I've been watching "Friends" and I'm shocked by how the male characters were all dressed in oversized shirts and jackets. After a while it's so annoying to see. Thank you for this guide.
Ashley is so picky in this one. Everything she points out, Michael’s just like, “Wait, what?” And sleeve length is a matter of personal preference. I, for one, like a length that hits in between the top of thumb knuckle and above that creating a seamless image without the billows. Some people like it a little longer but there are no rules depending on what you’re going for.
Blink Michael, for the love of god BLINK!
Lol
"which you don't want" - Michael shakes his head accordingly: "you don't want that, nono" haha
Your friend looks really creepy xD
Rule no 1: get in shape
lol exactly my thinking.
Absolutely not, there's no point being in shape if you have a shitty badly fitting shirt
Clothes will always fit better if you are in shape.

It is literally very helpful. I started altering my shirts just as it said. Thanks a ton for the information..

is Michael a zombie???
That's highly offensive, please use the term "differently alive"

I'm a big fan of the two finger technique
Its great getting clothing advice from a woman for a change; I mean women are one of the main reasons men decide to dress well
John Moore Yeah but a lot of the times, I feel like she doesn’t know what she’s talking about.

It would be really nice if you could show bad examples, I think it would make certain things much more clear. Keep rocking thous great videos.
I just subscribed because of this informative video. Thanks!

I love Michael :D Always makes me laugh the looks :D
great video... would you be open to doing a guide on how to find / buy custom dress shirts?

When choosing between two sizes online should I go for the smaller one or the larger one?

***** well guess I don't hv other way..😜 well thank..😊
Hey Ashley, awesome video!! Could you tell me how to know if the dress shirt is too tigth?
thanks a lot!!
If it’s suffocating you. Basically.
Snugness is good but suffering isn’t.
Hey Ashley , will you make one about Oxford Shirts ?
his face at 1.44 was pretty great.

How do you feel about clothes/shirts from Express?
What about if I want to pair it with a vest? How should the vest fit?

Does that guy ever blink?
Great Video as always !
What about the position of the pocket on the left pec? HIs looks kinda low to me.
RayLo I don’t think those things can be fixed so it is what it is.
I don’t like pockets. I’m a more formal guy but that’s just my preference.

Kendrick ross Get your shirts tailored to perfection by a 'tailor'.....
I have same issues like yours too. Just opt for custom tailor.
You know what really helped me since my weight fluctuates? I just get stretchy shirts. That way, I can go a little tighter if needed and it’s more forgiving.
really helpful video! thanks !
You have so beautiful smile, it is a pleasure to watch your videos)
He's hypnotized.
Anyone know where those pants are from?
Love these videos - so handy! :D
can i wear a dress shirt with a pocket with a suit?
michael' s eyes are colder than Stalin's
Awesome! Thanks
Honestly!! I like a little more fabric around my arms for free comfortable movement !!
You’re gonna be comfortable no matter what.
You shouldn’t look and feel like you’re wearing pajamas.
2:28 is the sleeve perfect or short ? I got confused !
Naj M.D. Right? Like make up your mind.
It would probably make sense to HAVE the shirt you're referring to instead of the wrong one!
You can barrel roll a french cuff too :-) great points
Wouldn't it be a good idea to have all your dress shirts made to measure?
thanks!
I love your eyes, Michael.
all my shirts now technically don't fit. FML
cute girl. And I would recommend Yeabarron custom shirt online to customize - you might go through the professional customization process until you find the best fit but Amazon makes that process pretty easy
on point!
That guy is kinda creepy........
That's a Brooks Brothers shirt, notice the things above the cuffs

High armholes, yes. Digging into your armpit high, definitely not good.
What's his full name?
one finger in or two fingers in? sounds kinky to me
The Naked Brain I was thinking on exactly the same lines.
I came to the comment section for 2 things:
1) Remarks about the creepy guy
2) Puns about putting one finger or two fingers in..
Was not disappointed.
Triple fingers rubbing G
Michael is pretty hot... Hahaha but your videos are really great. Learned a lot from them....
Why is everyone hating on the guy so much? He is hot af (OK I admit in a pretty intense way but that's not bad at all)
I also dig the eyes ;)
This shirt is too small at the shoulders as it looks a bit skimpy.
Easy, just extend the shoulder seams 1-1/4" on each side and under arm lowered 1/2" too.
jeffsor47 Some manufacturers just make them like that. Not all sizes are created equal. I just roll with it unless it’s drastic.
How much was that robot model? I mean that male one... I wish I could be that perfect! Great video! Subed!
That death stare dude again.
Have you ever had that feeling that someone is staring at you? ...
The guys looks like a cyborg
LOL, I swear the model is undressing people with his eyes. Super creepy. LOL
Ashley, you have great info, but idk if anyone else has noticed...

Dodge Blake That fit was in fashion back in the 90's
Yeah, like Yogesh said - It was cool to dress like that.
They are called formal shirts, dress shirts are the shirt you would wear with a dress suit, known as a dinner suit or what the Americans call a tuxedo
Just because of freaking intro
dude have creepy eyes wtf. I'm just looking for shirts, I'm not looking for serial killers..
That is horrifying. Quick tip for eye contact, if you forget to Blink you look like you're about to Ted bundy someone.

Most women like having 2 fingers fit
I have a perfect excuse for my dress shirts being over-sized. I've lost 50lbs.
Micheal is really creepy. no joke.
He just stares too much.
Fahem zoldyck Well he's a model.
When a woman is dressing up men...
how ironic.
Why the man so serious, he's creepy
Michael is creepy AF.
‘i can only fit two fingers in by choking him’
That guy is creepy
Are you an Asian?
