Best set of information I have found on RUclips to date. Teresa you rock. In this video I too have a music production studio, but I want to build a Hackintosh. What I am not sure of what case to use for this build. I used a lot of VSTs, AUs, and samples with my work and though I will need storage like SSDs (maybe (3) 2TB drives for all that I still would like to know what case to use since it was not listed in the description and you briefly mentioned a case in the video. i would like to know thank you. Keep up the good work. You have a fan for sure. Oh and I forgot to mention I would need some way to hook 3 monitors for when I working. Can you help?
Hi, thank you. I don't advertise any case, because it's a matter of personal taste and needs of each user. So what I like maybe does not like the others and vice versa. I'm rebuilding my Hackintoshes into PowerMac G4 and G5 cases, because it's nice.

Hello Teresa, thank you for the great video! I have a question: are the on board WIFI / Bluetooth modules compatible with Mac OS, or do I need external cards/dongles? Thank you!!
I answered the same question in comments 100000x times :( Read comments before ask. No, all PC motherboard's wifi/bt chips are incompatible. You just need to buy compatible one.
I had seen all comments on this video, the question was never asked, however… 100000x times :)) I asked the question about this board “Z370-A II” which you show in this video. Thank you for your time!@@MorgonautHackintosh
Hi Tereza, do you keep the EFI folder for the clover updated? I have now version II of Z370 card with RX580 and 9600 purchased. I have no problem paying for it via patreon. I just want to know, before I pay if it still working without any hustle. Díky moc :-)

Good video! I did my build based on audio production too, with a little video editing. :) I have i7 8700k (oc 5ghz), 32gb gskill 3200 memory, 500gb samsung evo 970, gigabyte aorus gaming 7, fenvi fv-T919 pci (for bt and wifi), evga 750w psu, and sapphire vega 64. Please do a tutorial on making the thunderbolt 3 to work. Would be great to have not one, but two thunderbolt 3 working. As a professional Mac OS user this would be the topping of the cake.
Theresa, I’m curious. What keyboard do you use? And do you use a mouse or do you use Apple trackpad? I have an older apple Bluetooth keyboard but I’m constantly changing batteries, it’s annoying.
I use Apple Bluetooth Keybaords (the small ones without numeric block) and fortunatelly I had luck to get the same keyboard but wired one. Batteries last for few month. Trackpad I'm using only on my MacBook Pro.
Hi Theresa! I have a question for you. My hackintosh is on Z370, I have AMD RX 580, and I have i5 8600K. I use this computer for video editing on FCPX. Right now I have integrated graphics off, because this is the only way FCPX would work. With integrated graphics on FCPX crashes. Does that make a difference for my rendering? Does FCPX even use the CPU, or am I good just running off RX 580? Thank you so much.
Sorry, after numerous constant attacks against me personaly and threats, spreading lies about me over whole internet from some st___d people and criminal one, I don't provide any free gifts anymore.
Super detailed content. Thank you so much!!! In all videos you use z370 MBs. What do you think of z390 MBs? For example the Gigabyte z390 Pro, or Pro WIFI? Would you say they are as good to build Hackintoshes as the z370s?
These videos are so useful. I was going to build an i7 based machine but I really don't need the extra power. I'm a developer so the extra power would be nice really won't benefit me as much. I'm running an old 2011 i5 based iMac and honestly, it still works great. I do run VMs so it will be nice to have a system with more RAM and i do light video editing. i think this 8400 will fit my needs. I'll pair it with an RX 580 and hope for the best :)
I followed your tutorial for a GA 370 Gaming 5 and everything came out great. Applied patches to get QuickSync enabled. My only issue is USB 3.x ... All of my USB 3.x ports run at 2.0 speeds. I even used the USBMap script to enable only 15 ports but even those USB 3 ports are dead slow. Do you have the tutorial for this either coming or on your patreon page?
What a fantastic video and such a well balanced build! One question, do you see any problem using a z390 Designare instead of the z370 in this same build just to gain an option to grow it into a mac pro killer over time?
Oh I have! And I know you say z390 is the most compatible motherboard yet. I just can’t afford that build right away, plus for music production Radeon vii may be an overkill, so I was thinking doing this build, just swapping out the motherboard for z390.
Great video Teresa, love how you sharing all these secrets where most of Hakintosh experts trying to keep it for themselves. Anyway, love Jacob actual reaction :D
Teresa, thank you much for these. After 5 years of mac user, the new macbooks don't seem to have what i need for my music production. I started 1 month ago building a M-ATX hackintosh for a High Sierra with a 8700k, nvme samsung 970, MSI B360M, Geforce 970, corsair vengeance 16gb 2400mhz. However i assume I bought the wrong motherboard, because have tried your tutorials and related methods with no succes. As i have M-ATX does this tutorial also work for a Gigabyte Z370M DS3H? Can;t find a Asus Prime Z370m. (Or do you think there is way somewhere to find on the famous internet to get a msi-b360M to work for high sierra)
my tutorials are applicable to quite any supported board. But this video is related to this particular setup. So if you have EXACT same HW, my folders will be working for you. If not, then you need to tweak it little bit. That's why I offer in my videos this option, people can buy same hardware, download falready prepared and tweaked olders and they will be running in 30 minutes without any knowledge. It's not possible to make it easier for newbies.
There doesn't seem to be a big performance difference between a regular 2.5" SSD and one of the NVME drives. Is one really better than another for Hackintoshing in your experience?
thank you very much Theresa; love your videos a lot , am learning all the time. I own the Asus H170-MPlus motherboard; any problems with it with Hackintoshes?
Hi Teresa, I am a lucky guy. I bought this motherboard to build my audio PC as a workstation for music production. One year later I am interesting in building hackintosh (first I installed MacOS on a virtual machine) and my hardware is really compatible ( I am using a I7 8700K), but the motherboard is really fantastic for both options (Making Music on PC and Mac). Now I have bought a graphic card (ASUS AREZ rX 570 8GB) and I will install this on my hackintosh. I can't find the glover folder as you talk about. Where I can find this?
so then you read very bad! so again, in this video description is clearly written: "Sorry, after numerous constant attacks against me personaly and threats, spreading lies about me over whole internet from some st___d people and criminal one, I don't provide any free gifts anymore."
helo there!! thanks for all the good work! keep it up!! I was wondering, do you took down the links for the preconfigured plist, I couldn't find them on the comments. thanks!!
many people like to fantasize with different motherboards. However, the motherboard is the easiest to install, the best motherboard. Thank you, Teresa. You are loved. ❤️❤️❤️
thank you very much Ahmet. As I said in this video, I've found this motherboard to be as good as my Gigabyte I used for all builds. And it has also Thunderbolt. So those 2 boards are the best I think.
Hey Teresa, thank you so much for your effort to make Hackintosh accessible for the masses... like me :) As I need exactly a workstation for music production this is the best source I found for giving me the confidence to build one! I just have one question: is it possible to build this machine with a Corsair H100X water cooler for the CPU? I'd love to have a quiet system :) Thanks so much for everything!
Interesting video. Great performance and good explained and as usual good colours. What i wonder here might seem completely irrelevant, though, as since March 2019, when I got my first Hackintosh, purchased from a cool local Hackintosh “pro” as I knew nothing about it, I think he was very much inspired of this build actually… I got into Hackintosh because the desktop Macs available then were a bit “weak” (non existent) so this Hackintosh seemed to be the only way. Before this it was Mac only since 2007. Hardware info: Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z370-A II CPU: Intel i7 8700K GPU: 1 or 2 x Radeon RX 570 Strix PCI RAM: 4 x Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB/3200 Mhz HDD: Some SSDs Wifi: TP-LINK Archer T9E AC1900 Dual Band Wireless PCI Express Adapter Bluetooth: USB stick, don’t know the brand PCI expansion card: 1 x Asus Thunderbolt EX 3 (Thunderbolt 3 PCI card, to make it possible for 2012 Apple Thunderbolt display/routed via an external wire from mainboard TB to this PCI card, to convert TB3 to TB 2 for the Apple TB display.) This machine has been working well most of the time, first with Mojave & later on also after a lot of work tested with Catalina - all the way with the Apple Thunderbolt 27" display (still quite a lovely display some of us may say). The main hardware to get this display working has been as explained above, the “ASUS Prime Z370-A II (BIOS 0801- 04/24/2019)” motherboard wired/patched from the RX570 GPU output into an “Asus Thunderbolt EX 3" PCI card, which on the Thunderbolt 3 output has a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter where the Apple Thunderbolt 27” display has been connected (and has most of the times worked well, all the way from boot into OSX). All is explained in the hardware list above; maybe quite a lot of tech information up there, but why not be as clear as possible... The question: If this connection is possible - to be able to use the Apple Thunderbolt 27” display more simple - straight away out from a Thunderbolt 3 port on any existing Hackintoshable motherboard, why not for example the Gigabyte Designare Z390 (via TB3 to TB2 adapter of course as the Apple Thunderbolt display is "old” and only has Thunderbolt 2) one more PCI slot would be free and also we will get one free Thunderbolt 3 port out from the Designare Motherboard - why not to be used for a good Thunderbolt Audio Interface, like Universal Audio many good options? Do anyone here know if this could be possible, without being equipped with an egg formed Einstein Hackintosh brain/not too complex settings/coding? Is it even possible or is Mac Pro 2019 the one and only way if an expandable desktop computer is needed, for this “old” but quite lovely display?
Thank you Teresa for such informative videos. Would this configuration be a good budget photo and 4K video editing setup these days? Also i5 supports up 2666 memory. Any point buying 3000 memory? Thanks in advance.
Hello there! First of all great video tutorials, I got plans to build a hackingtosh with the components of this video, but I'm thinking if there's gonna be possible to update to Catalina in close future with these components? And for also for future operation systems? I'm new at this, thanks!
Hey Theresa - first of all - great videos and thank you for providing so much information for free - im currently trying to assemble a hackintosh for music production as well, but im a little unsure about my build. I want to get the gigabyte Z390 M which has a thunderbolt 3 port and i want to use the UAD apollo twin mkII audio interface. Do you have any experience on the compatibility of thunderbold 2 audio interfaces with these newer thunderbolt 3 capable mainboards like the Z390 M? I think uad compatibility would be a great follow up video on this as well, since i always see users struggeling with in the facebook groups! kind regards and sorry for the long post ;)
@@MorgonautHackintosh Thank you im definately gonna check that video out too! Just in general when building hackintosh though: What do you think about PCIE add in cards (like the gc titan ridge or alpine ridge)? These videos and tutorials are already everywhere. Nothing special about them. But still you're doing the best ones I've ever watched. But I really would like to watch a i5 9400f with xfx rx580 radeon on a MSI B360M PRO VH build. That would be really nice. Which those are the parts I own :D
Hello Teresa and thank you for the great tutorial! You are really making hackintoshing an easy thing for us. You have mentioned that you use two m.2 drives on your system. Is this possible with the Asus Prime Z370-A, without having problems with the overall bandwidth? It would be great to make a video showing the use of two m.2 drives on a hackintosh. Thanks a lot in advance!
In this build there is only one M.2 drive. You can put more drivers, but there are always some limitations. It is very good described in the motherboards manual, so read it.
Looks fantastic. I plan to build it. You mention you are cutting some corners for budget. If I were to take it to the next level what is the best bang for the buck substitution to make please?
Thank you. @@MorgonautHackintosh I'm diving in. Thank you supremely for your expert help. Many Mac friends are telling me I'm crazy but I'm doing it anyway.
hi Theresa, really amazing videos, informative , clear and obviously a lot of work goes into both your builds and the content being produced. Im looking to build a DAW also, but on a Gigabyte Z370 Aorus G7, with TB3. Do you still have available the EFI zip. from your Gigabyte-Z370-G5? and are you able to share with me this EFi. zip? many thanks in advance.

Teresa, this motherboard is no longer available... looks like asus has a prime z370-a ii. Would this work with your setup/clover? Also would changing the cpu to an i7 8700k require a new folder? Is it possible to get Thunderbolt working on this setup? Subscribed and will support you on Patreon to download the files for my next audio pc.
hello! thank you for this video. i have a question and it is this. it seems like the "ASUS PRIME Z370-A" has very similar specs as the "ASUS PRIME Z370-A II", but the price is quite different. would the ASUS PRIME Z370 II work just as well as the one you showed on the video? thanks!
Awesome content Teresa!, it's really great to see someone who loves what she does, im a noob in this so hopefully i will learn a lot with you channel, keep it up!
Morgonaut Wow, thanks for fast reply! Last question... are you married? 😛 Just kidding, what budget cooling and power supply option would you recommend for this setup? Or do you remember which one your friend had on his?
Hello, I’ve been watching your videos for sometime now and happened to purchase all the parts in this video, I’m having trouble with the clover configuration part though. Was wondering if there’s any tips you may have or if you offer help yourself
you need to have supported wifi/bt chip. Now you can't simply exchange boards and leave config. Each hackintosh is unique and you need to tweak configuration to particular hardware. So even if your board would boot with my config, the USB patch will 100% not working.
Hey Morgonaut, Can you please tell me if Hackintoshing a CPU with Processor - Core i5 9400F (No Intel HD Graphics) Motherboard - Gigabyte H310M-H Some MSI Cheap graphics card And some 8GB ram and some SSD Please do let me know ! I'm on a super duper tight budget ! like real tight budget !
Great video. I'd like to build a Hackintosh for music production. But I need a thunderbolt port for my Apollo Twin soundcard. Does Hackintosh support thunderbolt ports/cards? Thanks.
@Morgonaut I am going to use your patreon folder for this build - Can you please let me know if the Z370 Prime A II motherboard would work instead of Z370 Prime A? Even your Amazon link in the video description takes me to the A II version, but want to be sure.
Sorry, after numerous constant attacks against me personaly and threats, spreading lies about me over whole internet from some st___d people and criminal one, I don't provide any free gifts anymore.
Hi Teresa, as usually another great video. Just a question, link for motherboard drive to Z390 asus chipset, while in the description and in the video you are talking about z370chipset... is this means that we can use both MBs? Thanks
@@MorgonautHackintosh believe me. Maybe depends by the Country? Therefore in Italy on Amazon is not possibile to buy Asus Prime A (only in the warehouse deals), available is the version Asus Prime Z370 A II, and obviously Prime Z390 A. I'm wondering if Asus Prime A II is the same board...
massimiliano, I can't do more. I can't satisfy all people. I get all the time comments like "your board is not available in India, China, Australia etc"... I bought this board week ago. New.
@@MorgonautHackintosh you are absolutely right. It was absolutely not a criticism of your content that are amazing. By the way this is a video that show how works the link for motheboard: ruclips.net/video/OG9VUD-9ml4/видео.html
hi, that is a good video. I plan to build a hackintosh with the same specifications as you, but the Asus Prime Z370-a is rarely on the market, what if I use the Asus Prime Z390-a , is it good for a Hackintosh. Do I need to change the processor to balance performance?
I buy exactly the same Hardware and want to use the IGPU like you did it here. I Made an installer USB and drag the downlaoded EFI Folder in the EFI Partition of USB. I do the ASUS Mainboard tweaks like your Video about that. I tried the Cloverfolder Dowload from this video and from the 4K Video Editing video. Both doesn`t work for me. My USB STICK installing with the Apple Logo freezes about 50-60%. What`s the error?
Thanks for the great video! I have a question. I'm looking to build a more powerful hackintosh than my current one (this was my first and a tester unit to see if I can pull it off) and saw you used the Asus Prime Z370-A. I was looking into the Asus Prime Z390-A instead. Would everything still be good while following how to setup BIOS for Asus boards video?
no, it is not the same board. You would need to create your own config for it. I could not make it easier for people, but if you want it complicated, then enjoy it.
Morgonaut yes I understand it isn’t the same board and I would need proper configs etc. But I’m asking in your opinion since it’s in the same line of prime boards just a bump from 370 to 390, if it would be similar simple process to get it up and running? I’m looking to get better heatsync setup for m.2s and type c connector on the 390. That’s why I wanna go with that board. Thanks
All builds, components, setups... I personaly tested, tweaked and verified. All I had to buy with my own money. Do you think I can afford to buy all motherboards on the market available just to test and tweak them for people? No, I'm not a millionaire. I am getting this messages quite every day: "Make a tutorial about this motherboard MSI XYXYXY" etc. So I did not have your board in my hands. And because I only recommend hardware I personaly tested, I can't recommend your board.
Great Video. But I have couple questions. How exactly did you enable the intel quick sync acceleration? Also, can you make a video about Mini ITX build? To be more specifically a hackintosh build with ITX and airdrop enable. On my bigger hackintosh, I was able to install a network card adopter with the apple network card. But ITX board has no extra PCIE slot I am wondering how we can get airdrop enable on that. Airdrop is such a core feature in OSX now days it is just very difficult to live without it. I hope it is not too many questions. Thank you.
Morgonaut would you make a video about this please? This is a frequently asked in the community and I cant find any RUclips has an upto date tutorial for this issue. Thanks a million~ ❤️

Hello Teresa, thank you for the great video!
I have a question: are the on board WIFI / Bluetooth modules compatible with Mac OS,
or do I need external cards/dongles?
Thank you!!
I answered the same question in comments 100000x times :( Read comments before ask. No, all PC motherboard's wifi/bt chips are incompatible. You just need to buy compatible one.
I had seen all comments on this video, the question was never asked, however… 100000x times :))
I asked the question about this board “Z370-A II” which you show in this video.
OMG. That was so easy. Installed with everything working on the first try. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
all my tutorials are easy. I spent lot of days to tweak and optimize everything. But biggest thanks for me would be any support on my Patreon or any PayPal donation would be highly apprecciated. Links are in each video description.

Very, very powerful machine, no glitches, everything works except handoff but not big deal for now. Thanks Teresa for your videos!

Please do a tutorial on making the thunderbolt 3 to work. Would be great to have not one, but two thunderbolt 3 working. As a professional Mac OS user this would be the topping of the cake.
it's in my timeline already
Morgonaut can you please link the video?
"in my timeline" = I plan to do it and it's already scheduled
Morgonaut oh sorry for the misunderstanding. Thank you and thank you for the great videos.
What about the thunderbolt for like Apollo twin and such. Do it work?
thank you so much for this.. there are barely any videos on this topic 🤘
you're welcome
Theresa, I’m curious. What keyboard do you use? And do you use a mouse or do you use Apple trackpad? I have an older apple Bluetooth keyboard but I’m constantly changing batteries, it’s annoying.
I use Apple Bluetooth Keybaords (the small ones without numeric block) and fortunatelly I had luck to get the same keyboard but wired one. Batteries last for few month. Trackpad I'm using only on my MacBook Pro.
Love your videos! Btw which one do you recommend more, the Asus z370-A or Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 5 now that you've tried both?
the best board I recommend is this one: amzn.to/2UdBw7u
Just came across your channel. Very informative, what laptops would you recommend for hackintosh builds?
In this video I talk about laptops: ruclips.net/video/fA9AotXqkqA/видео.html
that's interesting, what about thunderbolt support? Is it thunderbolt better with the Gigabyte MoBO?
for best thunderbolt support see my 14-core imac pro killer video
I didn't see, but does this have PCIE slots? If so, would the GC-TITAN RIDGE work?
sure it has PCIe slots. For Thunderbolt I recommend motherboard from my 14-core iMac Pro killer video series
Great video ! But one doubt, can I use it 9400f instead of 8400 ? Asking since 9400f doesn't have igpu and provides better value.
please Do a video on DSDT and SSDT patching
Thank you so much.
for use with RX580 I would definately recommend to tweak your EFi and ENABLE Intel Quickync, it will speed up your rendering a lot in your case
Hi Teresa! Is the EFI updated for catalina?
Hi Theresa, I love your videos and planning to make this music Hackintosh. I know it's a stupid question but where can I download the clover files ?
Sorry, after numerous constant attacks against me personaly and threats, spreading lies about me over whole internet from some st___d people and criminal one, I don't provide any free gifts anymore.
@@MorgonautHackintosh Well, any way you could provide a link via pm? Much appreciated.
Super detailed content. Thank you so much!!!
In all videos you use z370 MBs. What do you think of z390 MBs? For example the Gigabyte z390 Pro, or Pro WIFI?
Would you say they are as good to build Hackintoshes as the z370s?
not true, I use lot of motherboards including Z390. You simply need to watch all my videos, not just few
Morgonaut 😅 sorry! Then I missed those. Thanks for the fast reply.
I'll pair it with an RX 580 and hope for the best :)
all my videos are useful
Morgonaut no question.. you are the BEST... thank you for all that you do
you're welcome Mark
I followed your tutorial for a GA 370 Gaming 5 and everything came out great. Applied patches to get QuickSync enabled. My only issue is USB 3.x ... All of my USB 3.x ports run at 2.0 speeds. I even used the USBMap script to enable only 15 ports but even those USB 3 ports are dead slow. Do you have the tutorial for this either coming or on your patreon page?
tutorial on patching USBx is coming early :)
@@MorgonautHackintosh wonderful. I really enjoyed your very simple and straightforward tutorials

What a fantastic video and such a well balanced build!
One question, do you see any problem using a z390 Designare instead of the z370 in this same build just to gain an option to grow it into a mac pro killer over time?
you should better watch my "14-core iMac pro Killer" video series :)
Thank you Suzaidee. Yes, with Jacob and his son it was unexpected fun :)
@@@MorgonautHackintosh thank you for your reply,
you're welcome
Thank you. This helped me a lot.

Thanks for the great video. Can you suggest the cooler and cabinet for these components
Hi, is a ASUS Mainboard PRIME Z370-A-ll also working fine with your efi?
my EFI is for the first gen, but lof of people reported to me they are using it with the II version fine
Where I can find this?
in video description is clearly written about it
@@MorgonautHackintosh Hi Teresa, sorry, but I cannot find anything. There are only links for Amazon to buy the hardware and your contact information

thank you very much Ahmet.

I'd love to have a quiet system :)
Thanks so much for everything!
H100 for which exact CPU?
Thanks for getting back! ❤️
I‘d use the i5 8400 as recommended :)
that is OK, it's not hot cpu
Thank you sooooo much 👍🏻🤗
So the next Hacky is on it’s way 😉
Interesting video.
Hardware info:
Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z370-A II
CPU: Intel i7 8700K
GPU: 1 or 2 x Radeon RX 570 Strix PCI
RAM: 4 x Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB/3200 Mhz
HDD: Some SSDs
Wifi: TP-LINK Archer T9E AC1900 Dual Band Wireless PCI Express Adapter
Bluetooth: USB stick, don’t know the brand
PCI expansion card: 1 x Asus Thunderbolt EX 3 (Thunderbolt 3 PCI card, to make it possible for 2012 Apple Thunderbolt display/routed via an external wire from mainboard TB to this PCI card, to convert TB3 to TB 2 for the Apple TB display.)
This machine has been working well most of the time, first with Mojave & later on also after a lot of work tested with Catalina - all the way with the Apple Thunderbolt 27" display (still quite a lovely display some of us may say).
Hi Teresa, Great video!! Do you have a link for how to overclock for this build?

I don't use FireWire in my hackintoshes, only on my Macs. So I didn't thave the need to test any FW cards.
Which thunderbolt 3 pcie card to be used in this configuration ?.

Hello, I’ve been watching your videos for sometime now and happened to purchase all the parts in this video, I’m having trouble with the clover configuration part though. Was wondering if there’s any tips you may have or if you offer help yourself
Without any gpu is it gave me display??
Thanks Teresa ! I’m wondering if you have airdrop and continuity working on your build?
no I don't use this, I didn't find it useful for my needs :) I have production workstations with wired connection, no wifi/bt etc.
Ok thank you for clarifying! I could simply install a wifi card though right ?
Sorry one last question - can I simply exchange your suggested motherboard for the ASUS Z390M plus mATX without needing to edit your clover files ?
you need to have supported wifi/bt chip. Now you can't simply exchange boards and leave config. Each hackintosh is unique and you need to tweak configuration to particular hardware. So even if your board would boot with my config, the USB patch will 100% not working.
Morgonaut thank you again! I plan to become a patreon in the near future :)

Morgonaut Because he is in this field of music production and is thinking of buying an imac..
Ah OK, this machine is really great for music for the money. And still has plenty of room for future upgrades.
Thank you.
sorry, I don't plan any mini ITX build and I have no ITX build now. For airdrop you need to have supported wifi/bt chip.
Morgonaut how did you enable the intel quick sync ?
it's not an answer which will fit one comment
