I'm looking for a used car. What's the minimum amount that I should pay and how old of a car should I be looking at? Is buying a car that is more than 10 years old too much of a risk? Paying $700 seems like too good of a deal and risky.

The one thing I've learned from watching Judge Milan and Judge Judy is to ALWAYS have a mechanic look at ANY car, old or new, before purchasing, simply because people will post or say anything to get rid of it.

Yep, your right, when we were young we purchased a car off a police man, next day took it to our garage for them to look at, and they said it was an illegal vehicle, it could not have past its MOT which is a yearly check to see if it’s road worthy, and your given a certificate to send to your insurance. They said take it straight back it’s illegal to be on the road, as it’s a police man he will lose his job if you take it to the police because the MOT is forged. It should not be on the road. We got every penny back.
