When they started doing excavations to find the walls at Ft Vancouver they noticed that most of the holes they dug for the posts had rocks thrown in them. They figured that it was for stability.
Sometimes when you view the area using a drone you can see faint signs or changes in the ground level that could signify signs of a barricade or wall structure. This is truly an exciting series Beau, can't wait to see what you find down the road.
I have watched your videos since the beginning and have enjoyed every single one of them but with this series you have moved to an all time high. You did the research and the leg work and found long lost history, absolutely outstanding! Congratulations Chigg!
Very much enjoying this set of videos. Enjoy everything you do, but this mix of history, mystery and metal detecting makes for an interesting and attention grabbing show! Blessings!
I'm glad to see you're making headway.......Your last hole in particular looks very promissing. I'm looking forward to the continuation Video! Good luck guys! Have a good day and a better tomorrow.!
Some more awesome finds Chigg/Todd. I think you are on the right path/track on the location of the fort. That's awesome. You guys are actually telling the story of the fort an the people that noone has been told before. That's amazing to be able to tell about the fort an what we believe happened the day they burned the fort an all the people parished during the raid by the Indians. Good luck guys on your hunts an your finds related to the old fort. As always safe and happy hunting/digging.😁👍👍
I love this series. It reminds of the British TV series called Time Team. Get some trenches dug in and there and some geo-phys to show you where everything is underground…lol! Keep up the great work as you have inspired me to do similar type videos here in my area.
Just wanted to say Thank you for sharing this series of videos; I've watched many of your vids & am fairly certain this is a unique situation where you are discovering things in a truly unknown historical context. Normally it's a dig on known history (farms/homes/forts) with documentable history; This clearly is not that; as well as the relatively short, obscure timeline of its existence/end. My point being here you're proving/providing substantial historical evidence vs only adding to known previous history. I'm unsure how many times you've been in this situation, but wanted add my thanks for adding broader context to the pioneer/colonial history of our country's beginnings. My hope is this adds to the county/state historical data in significant way as opposed to possibly only becoming debate-type of info, sadly used in a political way in some historical societies. Thus far, clearly this site warrants SERIOUS investigation, though how much the owner is willing to tolerate will ultimately be the prevalent factor. Thanks again!
I’m so glad to see your still making fantastic videos; ;I’ve learned a lot by watching them and I wish I could fallow you on your hunts; it’s like my buck wish always searching for things to do that interest me the most. I’ve search for old things with history. Shar Tn
The piece of brass at 15:95 could be a key for holding the barrel on a Penn.rifle(?). Or maybe the piece of whats left of a service musket trigger guard or patchbox after a fire.
I'd definitely be hitting that with a 15" coil too. The 15" Cors coil on the Max is outstanding. It gets great depth, still separates, and can pickup small items.
An aerial look at the site with a drone may help find the palisades , or ideally a GPR scan ... But old school is the funerest ... “dig a trench look for the post holes , dig a trench look for the post holes ...” 🤠
This was great history lesson. I have a vested interest in this as my ancestor COL Joshua Fry was the commander and chief of the Virginia Militia until his death on 31 May 1754. He was LTC George Washington's Commander until his death when Washington took command. Sad how history forgets those that gave so much.
Hey Chig, why not do a geophysical survey? If it is expensive, then do a fundraiser. Your army will get behind this. Then you can dig with some accuracy.
Enjoying the series. You should map the finds, this could give you some insight into the boundaries of the fort. Once you take it out of the ground, you lose the context which is now lost forever.
Maybe there were poles on the inside of the fort like flag pole etc. Cool update on our history. Love our history and your videos. Thanks for sharing stay safe
just to the north of the gully where the debris are looks like a perfect circle 60 feet across from google earth pro also a circle where you are digging 75 feet wide
Artifacts in the plow line have been disturbed. Under the plow line means the artifacts are probably pretty close to in situ when they were lost/dropped.
Hey Chigg, you may have already heard about this. Frank from From Exploring Abandoned Mines and Unusual Places thinks that he might have discovered the M Cave of Kenny Veach.
I keep expecting some nice chunks of 1700s pottery or stoneware to pop outa one of those dig holes. Figure it has to be on the site, albeit in small broken fragments perhaps.
Hello! Is there any metal detectable that would show up in middens or latrines which would help reassure the vintage of the site? I am remembering that Mercury traces were definitive for stops of the Lewis and Clark expedition. I would not expect Mercury would have been a certain medication so many decades before Lewis and Clark. But maybe historians have a clue about what unusual metals would show up for 1750's communities?
I hope you enjoy this video. Brand new day detecting and a lot of finds!

Cows only do cow pies over gold coins, that's why their cow pies give off a signal.
Get the drone up chigg .you might be able to see the out line .just a thought.👍💯🍀
I really enjoy your videos from Michigan
This series is better than the Game of Thrones series, thanks Chig!
A drone equipped with LIDAR will find the fort if its there. Love this series!
When they started doing excavations to find the walls at Ft Vancouver they noticed that most of the holes they dug for the posts had rocks thrown in them. They figured that it was for stability.
Growing up we put layers of rocks in the bottom of post holes to allow water to drain and protect the posts from rotting.
I keep waiting everyday for this moment to dig deeper with you into the past 💯💪🏼
More to come!
@@aquachigger oh my nenith 🙀

Lookin' pretty tactical Mr Chigg! Thanks for making these videos and sharing your experiences with us. So much better than most of the crud on tv.

Exactly what I was thinking.. Time Team is a great show.
Sean Grimm O yeah, I can just see Phil in there scraping away with a trowel, and Tony saying "C'mon Beau, we got just 3 days ta sort this ! "

Im loving this hunt for Upper Tract!!! Ty Chigg💖✌️
Really enjoying these videos. The brass object at 14:59 reminded me of a piece of collar brass like for a Lt. Interesting stuff.
Damn it Chigg.....LONGER VIDEOS!!!!! lol. Loving this series!
Would love to see more of this type of content.
This has been an awesome history lesson brother :) thanks man :)
Chig hope you an Todd have a great week end hope y'all find a lot of good treasures take care buddy's
Great great series!! Loving it :)
Chigg as always your the man. Love you and the the boy. Dig it man dig it.
The piece of brass at 15:95 could be a key for holding the barrel on a Penn.rifle(?). Or maybe the piece of whats left of a service musket trigger guard or patchbox after a fire.
Great series going. :) Exciting finds!
I'd definitely be hitting that with a 15" coil too. The 15" Cors coil on the Max is outstanding. It gets great depth, still separates, and can pickup small items.
Soo interesting. Time to call in reinforcements. You're really onto something..
Waiting for the next one chigg, I cannot wait any longer!!!
Awesome!! Please bring more!!
Great day for you guys outdoors and find some good stuff 👍🤩🌟

So true friend ✌
Hey Chig, why not do a geophysical survey? If it is expensive, then do a fundraiser. Your army will get behind this. Then you can dig with some accuracy.
I think poking around blindly for random treasure is half the fun for old Chigg
He probably will call in geophysics when he has some proof. The new geophysical that "Time Team" in the UK uses gives a more 3D picture. So cool.
Fascinating! Could the rocks in the deep hole be to support a post?
Loving this series!! Is there any way to order one of your caps/hats?
This series is awesome chigg. Wish I could score some permissions like that.
Enjoying the series. You should map the finds, this could give you some insight into the boundaries of the fort. Once you take it out of the ground, you lose the context which is now lost forever.
I was thinking the same on mapping, providing more context to the site.
what a happy chigg; Detective Detectorist.
We love this series
this is history on the making* thank you Chigg******
Great job tracking down the location of the fort 🤠👍
Maybe there were poles on the inside of the fort like flag pole etc. Cool update on our history. Love our history and your videos. Thanks for sharing stay safe
Good job this was great continue on
Love to see the videos bro and thank you again for the sub
Exciting place to explore. Hope you searched some of those deep holes with your pinpointer when your coil didn't fit. ;-)
More , thank you !
That does look to be a good defensive area for a fort.
Love finding hidden historical treasures
Awesome series
Love the history!
Very interesting indeed young fella
That wedge might be the key/wedge that holds a musket barrel to the wooden stock?
Can't wait to see more. 👍🤘
Good continued work...🙂
Thanks for the videos!
Thx for sharing 👍🏼
I’m chasing down an old fort myself in my area. Real close to me. I know the hill it sat on as well.

Betcha wish you had the GPX out there! the half moon piece of lead looks to be a curtain weight but who really knows.
I'm loving this series! Can you tell me what the significance of the "plow line" is when sleuthing about for artifacts?
Artifacts in the plow line have been disturbed. Under the plow line means the artifacts are probably pretty close to in situ when they were lost/dropped.
@@shaunacall4685 Thanks!

that would be awesome, ive waited years for someone to find it

I wish I was there to Chigg and Todd but y’all be safe out there and GOD BLESS y’all Amen 🙏
Some of those rocks at 18:05 sure look like fcr (fire cracked rock).
Chigg and Todd I pray that y’all have found the spot y’all are looking for be safe and GOD BLESS y’all Amen 🙏
Can't wait tell the next video. I hope this is the fort site for you.
Fantastic
