This is a story and eventuality made for Chapo, I have been checking for this drop since the news broke. I always have in the back of my mind the EP with Patton Oswalt where someone mentioned a remake of Deathwish that addressed corporate greed. Well.. I mean wtf, I think you guys might be fucking wizards or something 😂😂😂
You are literally the ONLY big “media” mentioning the nearly universal “probably deserved it” public response. Says it all about the state of US healthcare & plutocracy.
Last night Google was literally censoring it. Googling for memes about it gave me a page with "there doesn't appear to be any good results" and only the most mainstream media videos and opinion pieces pearl clutching about it. Bing as usual had no chill
I literally just got rid of this insurance last October (I work for fedex, hate it btw). One of the worst decisions I made was getting involved with them without doing my homework on em. Expensive, unbelievably shitty service. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy 👍🏻
I have United and I haven't had problems with them yet, but who cares? Guys like this, their job is to find ways to increase profit, and in a health insurance company there's not many ways to increase profit... Sure, you try to make your customers healthier overall, and that's fine, but there's only so much you can do about that. We all know that this class of vermin earns their fat end of year bonuses by leaning on their employees to sign as many people as possible up for coverage, and then make sure to deny as many claims as possible. If this guy was some kind of saintly ascetic who lived in poverty, fought tooth and nail to care for his customers at his own expense, spent all his own money to help people whose claims got denied by his company, etc., then you could say this was a tragedy and a senseless waste of human life. But I kind of doubt that's who he was.
They're still saying it, most of the Democrat dominated media outlets are siding with the CEO. However, even the right wing pundits like Shapiro and Walsh are siding with the CEO. So screw both GOP and DEM, they're all part of the system.
And he needs to get more references besides King fucking Vaughn. Nobody except legal teams running RICO cases against rappers cares about Chiraq anymore.

I'm an extremely poor substitute, but I'll give it a shot: _____ (Please imagine the following as spoken/shouted quickly by a very intelligent, moderately-angry man prone to stuttering and circumlocution.) And this is essentially the commentary class, once again, being completely unable to accept reality when it diverges from their "everything is basically fine" mental model of the world. Because generally, if you see literally 99% of people celebrating the violent death of a person -- who's not societally proscribed by their demographics like a fucking- uh, Indian Untouchable, if they're not a member of one of those just, by-default-hated groups, like Jews in the middle ages -- you would generally conclude "well that guy was probably an awful person, at the very least he was hated by his community". If these people saw that happen in a fantasy story, or even uh, a historical account from 300 years ago; they would figure "Well he probably somehow had earned the hatred of the community in which he lived". But these CNN-brained dullards, because they can't conceive of the idea that _they themselves_ exist in a society that needs anything more than marginal adjustment, because that idea can't enter their head; they can only look at this and think "My god, this is a society of sociopaths". The pathology can only be on the individual level. Because they take it as an unstated axiom that the sickness -- which is clearly present when you see something like this -- that it can't exist at the level of the greater social structure. Or to the extent that it can, it can only be a cultural or psychological illness, and not an economic or structural one. And these are the people who in 1845, would read "A Christmas Carol", and think that it's a commentary on the lack of empathy among the Victorian-era poor, who clearly need a better education and upbringing; because how else could these people be so uncaring toward this distinguished old man who just passed away? The idea that their own society is structurally completely fucked just _cannot_ enter their head. To the point where they will imagine that they live in a society of utter sociopaths, rather than think that maybe the system we have -- where people drain you of your rent money every month and then withhold life-saving treatment from you when you're at your most vulnerable and needy -- that maybe that's a bad system. Because it can't be a bad system, because it's the system we're in. _____ Meh. It's certainly not on his level, but I think it does capture a bit of his essence. Rest well and keep fighting, Mr. Christman. You can only be emulated, never replaced.
Matt's the grillpill guy, this is not in his wheelhouse. I mean, unless you're suggesting that his exhortations to just relax and meditate and be happy, and his criticisms of anarchism, and his supposed health problems, were all just an elaborate smokescreen while he underwent rigorous physical and mental training to become an assassin for a decentralized underground resistance movement growing in size and strength every day, and this is only the first of many dominos to fall... and that's just ridiculous. Who would ever believe that?
My mom got a rare form of cancer that was survivable with constant treatment . You're traveling through another dimension -- a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's a signpost up ahead: your next stop: THE COOL ZONE!
Cern baby Cern.
Dolly Had Braces and I do not care what she says. I know what I saw. Lol
This is big?
Big media lol
Hasan on twitch was saying all this stuff too.
true, chapo is the only "big" ""media"" covering it, but lesser known news outlets like the Wall Street Journal and NPR also gave it headline coverage
I payed aflac for a year to be told to be told " OH we don't cover 65 year olds".
Idk I heard Brian was resisting arrest. FAFO.
Remember when Democrats said we must not vote for Bernie because he would get rid of our "beloved" private health insurance?
They're still saying it, most of the Democrat dominated media outlets are siding with the CEO.
However, even the right wing pundits like Shapiro and Walsh are siding with the CEO.
So screw both GOP and DEM, they're all part of the system.
Nobody said that, dufus..
How are they gonna get a jury that isnt biased
Brah Felix has gotta start realising that the longer the set up, the better the punchline gotta be
And he needs to get more references besides King fucking Vaughn. Nobody except legal teams running RICO cases against rappers cares about Chiraq anymore.
Will it have a Shinzo Abe effect ?
Doubt it. The health insurance industry has more power in the US than some prime-minister in his own country.
I actually think more people were upset that Shinzo was killed over this guy.
From the photos released he seems to be hot. If he goes on trial and it's recorded and he says his case.... Might be
The judge might not let him state his case as villainizing the victim might prejudice the jury.
Funniest segment on this pod in a while, guests were hilarious
They're funny guys. But their podcast is the only one I listen to where I actively think "I have to make sure no one around me can hear what these dudes are saying". Lol
those terms deny depose defend is from a book about healthcare
3:35 "Delay Deny Defend: Why Insurance Companies Don't Pay Claims And What You Can Do About It " by Jay Feinman - wow, the author wasn't kidding around.🥁

Is this thing on?
@@redlightmax I saw an interview with jay feinmann. Its incredible how starkly he laid everything out...its just sad/.

I’m sorry, the claim to care was out of network, concepts of thoughts and prayers are sent.

Depose relates to both depositions and removing someone from power.

Would love to see Wendell Potter's response to the CEO killing. Wendell was a insurance industry whistleblower who served as the Chief Communications Officer (COO) of Humana, and Cigna Healthcare.
2:11 I looked up Aaron Rupar's tweet and... yikes: "absolutely depraved to get your dunks in when the guy was just murdered in cold blood"
Give us a break, dude.
Sweet but sour moment imagining what Matt would have said about this.
I'm an extremely poor substitute, but I'll give it a shot:
_____
(Please imagine the following as spoken/shouted quickly by a very intelligent, moderately-angry man prone to stuttering and circumlocution.)
And this is essentially the commentary class, once again, being completely unable to accept reality when it diverges from their "everything is basically fine" mental model of the world.

Meh. It's certainly not on his level, but I think it does capture a bit of his essence.
Rest well and keep fighting, Mr. Christman. You can only be emulated, never replaced.
@@Hsereal that was actually pretty good lol. I could hear that shit so clearly.
