    It seems like the problem with the rays stadium situation is that while St Pete has done everything they can to keep the team in Pinellas county, the city of Tampa doesn’t seem to want them. I’ve heard many people say they would be willing to drive from all over Tampa and even Orlando if the stadium was in a more centralized location. As much as I’ve enjoyed having the team close to where I live, it would be worth it to me to see them go to a different part of the area and be able to stay local, especially if it gets them better attendance.

    • @Liamflynnphoto
      @Liamflynnphoto 3 месяца назад +1

      They’re not getting rid of the Citgo sign or the row houses. Those are on the other side of the Mass Pike from Fenway.
      What they’re doing is redeveloping Lansdowne street, including the dingy ass garage that homers get hit onto occasionally.

  • @rhodesfunk2996
    @rhodesfunk2996 Год назад +5

    Not sure I'm ok with the ugly ass building right behind the monster, but it looks like they really want to expand over the mass pike behind the ballpark which is an interesting concept. If they can create a little neighborhood and retail pace instead of just empty space over a busy highway I would say that's worth exploring.

    • @matthew01234
      @matthew01234 Год назад +2

      The idea sounds cool in theory but when it comes to practicality it's a terrible idea. The first problem is it would be very expensive to alter what has always been a baseball stadium into a 130-yard football field. The 2nd problem is that it just wouldn't play as well as an actual football field. The 3rd problem is it would damage the field and make it a worse situation for the Red Sox games that will happen after that. The 4th and biggest problem is that Fenway just can't hold as many fans as the current Patriots stadium in Foxborough. So they would be going through all that trouble and all that expense just to have fewer fans at the game and make less money. Football stadiums hold a lot more fans than baseball stadiums. I don't think there's a single baseball stadium that holds even 60,000 fans but there are football stadiums that hold over 111,000 fans. And Fenway Park especially is known to be one of the smallest baseball stadiums since it is so old. So they would be going through all that trouble just to make less money and possibly risk damaging the field/stadium at the same time. It's a cool concept and idea. I'll give you that. The only way it could feasibly work though is to make the tickets to enter the game extremely expensive. Like a once in a lifetime experience and charge people thousands of dollars for each ticket. They would probably have to promote it for a very long time to drum up that kind of demand though. Even then it would probably make less money than just hosting the game in an actual football stadium though. I get the concept and it's a cool idea in theory because... Who WOULDN'T want to be at that game? But it's also a terrible idea in practicality.

    • @matthew01234
      @matthew01234 Год назад +1

      @@GardcoreLegend I was unaware of that. That's pretty cool. I would personally love to watch the Pats play at Fenway. A lot has changed in the past half century though. I imagine that the "at game" fan base for the Pats can more than double the stadium size of Fenway now. Especially since the Tom Brady era has happened between now and then. I might be foolish but I'm guessing the Patriots home games already average noticeably more fans than Fenway can house. Very cool point btw. I didn't know the Pats ever played there.

    • @GardcoreLegend

The Green Monster building (Lansdowne) feels like the second coming of Mount Davis in Oakland. The rest is fine, but I agree with others that the CITGO sign should stay and represent a good line in the development sand. hate how fenway is becoming so gentrified to the point where the whole neighborhood is becoming one big tourist trap for yuppies. there's no more aesthetic left to the city, all that's left is boring overpriced apartments and liberal college students who make the city a terrible place to be

    I live in Boston. The city is tiny and keep cramming people into it with high rises and new condos which all look the same. Terrible idea which will ruin the aesthetic of the city. Another waste of money coming from the Boston taxpayer

      Because it's an historic ball park knocking it down and building a new one would upset a lot of fans. A lot of yankee fans were upset what they did to the old Yankee Stadium and built a new one it just doesn't have that old feeling.Why get a new Stadium when you can renovate and save tons of money keep the old tradition.

    • @nordythenorthman
      @nordythenorthman Год назад

      @@briancalifornia1 Yankee Stadium was a death trap. It was falling apart. Renovating it again would have been way too costly.
