Hi Joey, I probably won’t have a chance to do a video about the wiring, but I can tell you what I did. I just snipped off the stock battery connector on the speed control and soldered on a deans (some people prefer XT-90 connectors). Then I drilled a hole under the seat right above the speed control to feed the deans connector through up to the batteries which you can see at 7:50 I use a basic lipo battery charger I bought on Amazon. Cool! So you upgraded t 800w MY1020 motor, 36v controller, how did you mount up the new batteries? Did you weld in a new battery tray? What batteries did you use, guessing not the old 24v. I'm modding up 3 pocket mods I just bought and trying to do it right the first time LOL
Jaylin 7:45 Shows my battery set up. I use Lipo batteries under the seat. Not really any room for 3 12v SLA batteries in the frame unless they are tiny. You can do either a 6s and 4s in series or two 5s in series.
I find lipo's the best because they have consistent power all the way to dead empty, I'm planning to buy a cheap ass scooter from razor or something and do a 72v conversion kit and go flying haha
I haven’t bought lipos in a while so I’m not savvy on current brands. You’ll want a 4s and 6s lipo to run in series. Biggest mah you can afford. Read the reviews and hope for the best. It’s kind of a crap shoot with those cheap Chinese lipos on eBay. I’ve gotten good ones and bad ones and often there is no rhyme or reason to it.
Hi MapleBoarder78, I am hoping maybe you have the insight to help me. I've tried a few different avenues to figure out my problem and they've all hit a dead end. I'm trying to retrofit my daughter's Pocket Mod v. 47 to have a variable speed throttle (not upgrading the battery or motor as you did). As far as I can tell, no one makes a kit for v. 47. I have the wiring diagram for the v. 44 and v. 47 and they are only different in how the controle module connects to the on/off switch and the battery (everything else is plug and play). I just need a few more wires and connectors to fix the problem but I don't know what wires or connectors to order! I don't know if I can post the diagrams here...
Cathryn Sayer I apologize, I just saw your message! 🤦🏼♂️ Did you ever figure this out? The only way I could find to get a variable throttle was to change out the speed control unit and motor like I did in this video. I didn’t really want to change out the stock 24v motor, but the 36v speed controller can’t run on 24 volts.
I used to run RC cars. Whats the rule to match up lipo batteries to these? Even if I'm running 24v. I'd like this switch, I have charger full l set up for lipos still. Thank you!!
For the 24v Razors I use a single 6s Lipo (or two 3s wired in series). For the 36v systems you need 10s, so either two 5s lipos in series or a 4s and 6s in series. For 48v systems I run two 6s lipos in series. Just make sure they are the same mah and C rating and they work. 👍🏼
Huh... kinda re thinking my choice of tires. I bought these because they were the closest thing to what im looking for and they were complete. I'm building a custom mini chopper and need new wheels and tires but I couldn't figure out what to look for so I went on Amazon and seen a set of tires for a razer something or another they have all the parts I need I just didn't notice the size. But It is a mini chopper so these should be fine till I can find a fat rear and a big skinny front I like better.
I show my battery set up towards the end of the video. It’s a 6s and 4s lipo battery run in series to power the system. My battery video goes into more depth on how I do it... m.ruclips.net/video/mNoq9ZB2-H8/видео.html
Nice build! I am still looking for a cheap MY1020 motor and batteries and I have a question.. What if I just replace the speed controller from the stock 24v to the 36v one, will it have any effect on the speed and mileage of my scooter? Sorry I'm not electrically inclined lol Thanks and stay safe!
Fun Times With Gaby - Hi! Unfortunately if you use the 36v speed control you must use at least 36v to run it which will burn out the stock 24v motor rather quickly.
Whats the top speed difference between the stock motor and the bigger motor at 36volts? My stock motor does 25mph on flat ground with a pair of hoverboard batteries.
Hey, an old guy came the other day and asked me if i was interested in an old electric scooter for free. I said of course yes, and it was looking like your scooter but yellow plastic instead of the blue. Same wheels. Looked inside and same setup as yours with 2 old 12v 12ah lead batteries i am trying to revive now. Anyway, i am tempted to get a new lithium battery and i am also curious how this scooter with same hardware would react if i installed a 36v battery instead? And i also actually have a 48v battery for my electric bike wich i have bought a 60v battery for instead. HOW and what do i need to do to have this on a 36v battery and also if i am gonna try a 48v battery wich i already own? Is there some stepdown stuff i can use? I am curious about 36v straight to this scooter plug straight in, im sure you have tried it huh? How did it perform? Any tips are great welcome. Of course the cheapest tips on 36g and especially on 48v as i have that already.
@@RIMHQ-YT Throttle and speed control have to be for rated 36v to be able to use a 36v battery. I hooked a 36v battery to the stock 24v stuff before and it fried the motor after a few runs. Not sure about step down stuff, that’s out of my scope. Good luck with your build!
Smile with Dentures The motor doesn’t get hot enough to burn wood, it generally doesn’t get hotter than 120-140F. And that is the motor can itself, the legs which connect to the wood are much cooler than that. Great question though. 👍🏼
Jimmy Chafins Bought a 4s lipo and 6s lipo off Amazon and run them in series with deans connectors. I use low voltage detectors on them to keep them from running below 3 volts per cell. You need a lithium specific battery charger to charge them. 👍🏼

@@danielpolk9140 In my experience, 48v maxes around 28-30mph in optimal conditions. I had a 1000w 48v kit on my bike a few years ago that would hit about 28mph. If you wanna hit solid low 30’s I’d suggest going with a 72v kit (you’d need three 6s lipos run in series. You might get there with 48v but it will be a stretch, and you’ll need at least 1500w’s.

OnlyDavidWould Haven’t tested it fully, but We’ve gone about 6 miles before on dirt roads mixed with steep inclines. In the city I’d guess it would go around 8 miles or so.
Details on the batteries starts at 7:45 in the video as I show where I keep the batteries and what type of batteries they are. 👍🏼 Two lipo batteries run in series. You can do two 5s or a 6s and a 4s. You’ll need a 4s lipo and 6s lipo ran in series, or just a 10s lipo. There are also 36v specific lithium batteries on Amazon. The specific ones I used in this build are no longer available.
It varies depending on the terrain you ride on, the rider’s weight, how long you are engaging full throttle for, and the size of the lithium battery. I believe I was using a 8,000mah (8ah) lithium battery and it would last around 6 miles on hard packed dirt roads. If you used it on paved roads I’d imagine you could squeak out 7 or 8 miles.

Cool! So you upgraded t 800w MY1020 motor, 36v controller, how did you mount up the new batteries? Did you weld in a new battery tray? What batteries did you use, guessing not the old 24v. I'm modding up 3 pocket mods I just bought and trying to do it right the first time LOL

7:45 Shows my battery set up.
Hey man, wondering if you con point me in the right direction on what lipo batteries to get from ebay? Please.
How many holes do u drill
I subscribed because I likes your ending so sweet
I used to run RC cars. Whats the rule to match up lipo batteries to these? Even if I'm running 24v. I'd like this switch, I have charger full l set up for lipos still. Thank you!!
For the 24v Razors I use a single 6s Lipo (or two 3s wired in series). For the 36v systems you need 10s, so either two 5s lipos in series or a 4s and 6s in series. For 48v systems I run two 6s lipos in series. Just make sure they are the same mah and C rating and they work. 👍🏼
Did you replace the original throttle? Mine doesn't fit with the new controller.
Yes I had to replace it, the original throttle won’t work with the upgraded 36v speed control. I had no trouble getting it to fit.
@@MapleBoarder78 Whats the part number or how do I look for it? Thanks a million man!
Huh... kinda re thinking my choice of tires.
I dont know if youre still replying but is that in Ridgecrest? The desert and mountains really look like it.
Emerson Ottoline Quin We are not near Ridgecrest but I’m familiar with Ridgecrest though, it’s definitely very similar here. 👍🏼
What kind of battery are you using and how did you incorporate that into the build..?
I show my battery set up towards the end of the video. It’s a 6s and 4s lipo battery run in series to power the system. My battery video goes into more depth on how I do it...

So the bigger motor means that you can haul more than 170lbs? cuz the max weight for Razor Pocket mod are only up to 170lbs
That may be based on how much weight the frame is rated to hold as well. Razor doesn’t specify whether it’s based on the frame or motor.
Nice build! I am still looking for a cheap MY1020 motor and batteries and I have a question.. What if I just replace the speed controller from the stock 24v to the 36v one, will it have any effect on the speed and mileage of my scooter? Sorry I'm not electrically inclined lol
Thanks and stay safe!
Fun Times With Gaby - Hi! Unfortunately if you use the 36v speed control you must use at least 36v to run it which will burn out the stock 24v motor rather quickly.
@@MapleBoarder78 Ok got it! Didn't notice that I am using my kid's YT page lol Thanks again!
How long did the battery life last? before ya needed to recharge?
Nice Job!
8ah lipo batteries tend to take the scooter about 6 miles on dirt roads. You could probably get 8+ miles on pavement.
❤ ❤❤ those praises... giving GOD thanks for the wisdom and making everything possible!!! YES! YES!
See you later, Sweet Pea, and watch those gravel. Great video, thanks
Whats the top speed difference between the stock motor and the bigger motor at 36volts? My stock motor does 25mph on flat ground with a pair of hoverboard batteries.
I was never able to test the top speed of the stock motor on 36v before it burned up unfortunately.

what were the forums this man was talking about?
Endless-Sphere or Electric Scooter Parts are a couple.
Good luck with your build!

good job. great video. how much runtime do you get on those batteries?
Somewhere around 30-40min
Hey just wondering did you use the stock sprocket on the motor ?
I used the sprocket that came standard on the motor I bought on eBay.
what battery did you use?
A 4s lipo and 6s lipo wired in series under the seat. If you watch toward the end of the video I show my battery set up.
what prise
If wood gets to hot can it catch fire?
Smile with Dentures The motor doesn’t get hot enough to burn wood, it generally doesn’t get hotter than 120-140F. And that is the motor can itself, the legs which connect to the wood are much cooler than that. Great question though. 👍🏼
Not a chance it has gods name on it
how much mileage do you get off a single charge?
@@sahirbadr8901 6-8 miles depending on the weight of the rider and the terrain.
How did you do the batteries?
Jimmy Chafins Bought a 4s lipo and 6s lipo off Amazon and run them in series with deans connectors. I use low voltage detectors on them to keep them from running below 3 volts per cell. You need a lithium specific battery charger to charge them. 👍🏼
Hola me gustaria saber donde puedo comprar lo necesario para hacer lo mismo con la moto de mi hija. Gracias bendisiones..
😆 thats awesome 👍
Would someone please post a link to the "forums" he keeps referencing?
End-less Sphere and Electric Scooter Parts forums. Just Google either of those with the addition of something like, “Razor Pocket Mod upgrade”. You’ll find tons of threads with people talking about how to upgrade them.
I'm building a gp pocket rocket performance. Do you think 48v will get me to 30+
I've topped it at 15-18mph on full charge stock
@@danielpolk9140 In my experience, 48v maxes around 28-30mph in optimal conditions. I had a 1000w 48v kit on my bike a few years ago that would hit about 28mph. If you wanna hit solid low 30’s I’d suggest going with a 72v kit (you’d need three 6s lipos run in series. You might get there with 48v but it will be a stretch, and you’ll need at least 1500w’s.
I work at a scrapyard and can get all sorts of stuff. The razorquad I got I'm planning on using a scrap golf cart speed controller and putting lawn mower tires

Bro I got to ride my freinds moped today I'm so jelly🤣

How much was the parts?
You can get a motor/speed controller kit on Amazon or EBay for around $150-$200. And then a 36v lithium battery will run you around $150 or so depending on the size.
@@MapleBoarder78 I have a bunch of 18v Milwaukee batteries that I put in my daughter's power wheels car. And some 36v batteries for my ego mower. I know the 36v would work. But would the milwaukees work?
@@Zx14rrrrrrrrrrr I’ve seen people use them but don’t know how they hold up long term. If you wired two in series you’d have 36v, but they may not have much capacity due to their size. @@MapleBoarder78 gotcha. I don't mind buying a motor and controller. But hopefully I can avoid buying batteries 😂 I already have plenty.
whats the new top speed ?
Time stamp 6:30 in the video. Hit about 19mph on a slight decline. On flat ground it will probably cruise at 15-16mph.
Is it faster then the mx350
Gonzalo Torres Yes, makes it about as fast as an MX500
What's the range?
OnlyDavidWould Haven’t tested it fully, but We’ve gone about 6 miles before on dirt roads mixed with steep inclines. In the city I’d guess it would go around 8 miles or so.
uh.... you never showed us where the new batteries go, and what you used.... kind of important.
Details on the batteries starts at 7:45 in the video as I show where I keep the batteries and what type of batteries they are. 👍🏼 Two lipo batteries run in series. You can do two 5s or a 6s and a 4s. Essentially you need 10s to run the system. For more detailed information check out my video about how I put lipo batteries in my Powerwheels cars. It’s essentially the same concept but higher voltage batteries are needed to run a Razor 36v system. Good luck on your project!

Hii I was wondering what battery are you using for it??
You’ll need a 4s lipo and 6s lipo ran in series, or just a 10s lipo. There are also 36v specific lithium batteries on Amazon. The specific ones I used in this build are no longer available.
Wait how long does it last on battery
It varies depending on the terrain you ride on, the rider’s weight, how long you are engaging full throttle for, and the size of the lithium battery. I believe I was using a 8,000mah (8ah) lithium battery and it would last around 6 miles on hard packed dirt roads. If you used it on paved roads I’d imagine you could squeak out 7 or 8 miles.
