    • @MapleBoarder78
      @MapleBoarder78  4 года назад

      Derek and Courtney As far as I know, the system will not work on 24v, you need 36v to power the 36v motor and speed control. You would need three 12v batteries which will not fit in the stock battery location as it’s only meant to hold two 12v batteries for the stock 24v system. That is why I use lithium batteries kept in the seat compartment.

    thx for the quick reply. sorry for the dumb questions but, how do you get 40 volts out of (2) 14.8v lipo batteries.

    • @MapleBoarder78
      @MapleBoarder78  2 года назад +1

      One is a 4s (14.8v) and the other is a 6s (22.2v) ran in series for a total of 37v, but remember, that is nominal voltage assuming an average voltage of 3.7v per cell. The actual voltage of each cell when fully charged is 4.2v giving you 10 cells at 4.2v = 42v. You can also run two 5s lipos in series. Just make sure they have the same capacity and discharge rating.

    • @MapleBoarder78
      @MapleBoarder78  5 лет назад +4

      Sorry for the late reply. On Amazon if you search “LotFancy 36v” you will find the speed control module for around $29.50. The motor is a MY1020 36v motor. They come in a variety of wattages. I got an 800w one and the top Speed is around 16-18mph on flat ground, almost hitting 20mph on declines. You may want to go with a 1000w motor for more speed. Not sure if the controller can handle a 1000w motor though, you would need to check specs. Other than that, I used some random screws from my parts bin and the thick plywood doubled up to make the motor mount. We run this set up on a 4s lipo and 6s lipo run in series to essentially create a 10s lipo. Let me know how it goes! 👍🏼

If I could go back I think I would go for the 1000w motor instead of the 800w for just a bit more acceleration and top speed. But we only drive on dirt roads and sand which takes more oomph than driving just on pavement.

      It woundnt necessary cause over heating..Battery management/balance would be wack ( But he's using the same mah size 8000 mah for both packs....So they discharge at the same rate.
      i run 5s in power wheels...3s and 2s 5000 mah 50c...
      it has more power than 5s 30 li on ( drill battery pack)

      To get the same performance as 5s 50C lipo
      I order the 1000 watt 48v ( same size motor)..becuase it' s only $3 more than 500Watt.lol The speed control i got is only $12 it can do 40A continue 60 A spike..it has REVERSE..but no chinese instruction
      for the harness.lmao (it;s not that complicated..if have RC toys)
      That motor is only 20A.lol
      .i dont have to use 48 volts...but can use it later whne they get older.
      going to install it in power wheels..basically using the quad's rear end
      Do 36V...keep it around 12-15 mph...becuase i live in the city.
      Or even less...12mph tops....
      Until they learn how to drive it better or do 48V in open field or country roads....I'll just get 4s x 3

    • @MapleBoarder78
      @MapleBoarder78  3 года назад +1

      Hi Joey, I probably won’t have a chance to do a video about the wiring, but I can tell you what I did. I just snipped off the stock battery connector on the speed control and soldered on a deans (some people prefer XT-90 connectors). Then I drilled a hole under the seat right above the speed control to feed the deans connector through up to the batteries which you can see at 7:50 I use a basic lipo battery charger I bought on Amazon. You can get them for around $30-$50. To charge them I unplug them from the scooter and charge them on my work bench. Here is a link to a charger…
      smile.amazon.com/FCONEGY-Battery-Balance-Discharger-Batteries/dp/B0848J872Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=lipo+charger&qid=1632425933&sr=8-3
      Lipo batteries are plentiful on Amazon and from places like HobbyKing. Unfortunately it can be hard to find good quality batteries for a good price. I tried buying cheapo lipos for a few years but always ran into issues with cell quality. You might have better luck.

    Hey, an old guy came the other day and asked me if i was interested in an old electric scooter for free. I said of course yes, and it was looking like your scooter but yellow plastic instead of the blue.
    Same wheels.
    Looked inside and same setup as yours with 2 old 12v 12ah lead batteries i am trying to revive now.
    Anyway, i am tempted to get a new lithium battery and i am also curious how this scooter with same hardware would react if i installed a 36v battery instead? And i also actually have a 48v battery for my electric bike wich i have bought a 60v battery for instead.
    HOW and what do i need to do to have this on a 36v battery and also if i am gonna try a 48v battery wich i already own?
    Is there some stepdown stuff i can use? I am curious about 36v straight to this scooter plug straight in, im sure you have tried it huh?
    How did it perform? Any tips are great welcome. Of course the cheapest tips on 36g and especially on 48v as i have that already.

      It varies depending on the terrain you ride on, the rider’s weight, how long you are engaging full throttle for, and the size of the lithium battery. I believe I was using a 8,000mah (8ah) lithium battery and it would last around 6 miles on hard packed dirt roads. If you used it on paved roads I’d imagine you could squeak out 7 or 8 miles.
