These guys are and have been my "All Time Favorite" band. Going to see them tonight at Sunset Station in Henderson, NV. Loved them, then AND now!

    spot on.
They do what they love to do, what they learned to do, unlike so many popular "musicians" who just milk this rotten business for the quick money.
There's nothing wrong with these guys still playing, cause they still and always will rock.

It is Steve Walsh. Remember that John Elefante sang on the album ("Vinyl Confessions").

@Musicianac Not me! And I don't want to retire when I am their age, either. There is still a lot of rock left in them.

    Per: www.legacycom
Robby Steinhardt, violinist and co-lead singer for the classic rock band Kansas, passed away July 17th, 2021 in Tampa, Florida of complications of acute pancreatitis. He was 71 years OLD...
Between 1976 and 1987 Kansas had fourteen records on Billboard's Top 100 chart, one made the Top 10, "Dust In The Wind" peaked at #6 {for 2 weeks} in April of 1978...
"Dust In The Wind" also reached #6 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart...
They just missed having a second Top 10 record when their "Carry On Wayward Son" peaked at #11 {for 2 weeks} in March of 1977...
    May Mr. Steinhardt R.I.P.
Note: "Play The Game Tonight" peaked at #17 {for 3 weeks} in June of 1982...

It must have been Crossfire. I have the demos from 1981 before Steve Walsh quit, and he sings on Borderline, Fair Exchange and Diamonds and Pearls, but he only helps with the chorus of Crossfie. Someone else (presumably Robby Steinhardt) does lead vocals. Plus, out of all the Christian themed songs he'd put up with singing up until this point, Crossfire was the most explicit.

Maybe (well...definitely actually) I'm just expecting too damn much...but they just don't look like they want to 'save the world' through their music anymore...lol
Their old stuff is among the best live musical footage I've seen on youtube...there's some comparable vintage 'Tull' out there too...check it out!

Notice they are missing two key elements to the band, and that is a shame. they are still awesome regardless of how the sound today.

  • @famousvim26
    @famousvim26 15 лет назад

At the beginning Steve was (in my view) kind of struggling to sing... Well, after the first chorus he was warmed up and fit again!
I find it extremely difficult for him to sing so well after all these problems and years!

Walsh ought to be thrown in jail for murdering this song.
There's so much nagging about Elefante not living up to Walsh back in the day. The shoe is on the other foot now. Elefante's version rocks, and he still has his voice.

if you don't like the band Kansas then don't listen to them. You probably listen to rap anyways and dust in the wind is by far the best song off of the point of know return album

I saw Kansas live in 1980. Great band!! However, John Elefante sings this song much better. Of course, Steve's voice isn't as good as it used to be then.

  • @barsouk

Walsh still has a much better voice. Walsh, Greg Lake, and John Wetter are the best!

He wears the eyepatch because his fake eye didn't track right and it was annoying him.Like Master said, he lost his eye in his childhood. (I thought it was cool when I first saw him with the patch XD)

As much as we all love Steve Walsh, I think its well past time for Kansas to bring back John Elefante and let him sing atleast the songs he wrote in order to give Steve's poor battered vocals a break,,

After seeing them in 1982. I was a fan. Now this crew?? I have seen garage bands do a better job of the songs. Rating a 10 on the barf o meter..

@Musicianac Youre crazy, retire? The rest of so called musicians nowadays should retire. They can't make one original good melody. This band made phenomenal songs before i was born. Retire.. shiiit!
