Thanks to this video, first time I’d seen The Kinks in concert. Didn’t recognise Ray at first, because of the beard and punky delivery. David marvellous on guitar, of course. Thanks to the band and to RUclips for this offering.
Dave is a very , very good and quite under rated Guitarist !
I haven't been that familiar with the Kinks beyond the radio hits.
I'm definitely enjoying his playing here. 🎉
A three pickup Les Paul, powerful.
read a comment years ago from Linda Ronstadt about how the Everly brothers harmonies were unmatched due to the fact that siblings tend to harmonize better than others...I think that might be one of the secrets of the KINKS sound is Dave's unique harmonies
The opening of the show is just legendary. So 1982, yet the 1960's are occasionally recalled.
Great production wished I could of experienced it.
i saw them at the New Haven Colliuseum in Connecticut on this tour. And four or five more times after this. Hot Damn, they were so ROCKING it was incredible energy. Hit after hit. Glad to have been part of their second coming so to speak. The KINKS are unbelievably underrated. So many good songs to count. What an amazing band to see live. Love them. i was them play on the basketball court at Fordham University in '87. they did this rock opera thing where they had actors come out during certain songs. I recall a woman dressed as an oppressed house maid who came out with a wet mop and cleaned the floor around her while they played one of the songs. it was kinda wierd, but they took a big chance not playing any hits that night. They played the whole obscure album to the delight of the Fordham students. I was ten feet away from them. No stage, they set up right on the court so we were looking at them eye to eye. It was so cool to see someone so famous and talented that close. I will never forget that night. Thanks to my dear brother Lou, who was a student at fordham from 1986-1990
❤From Australia
Yeah, a glorious second act if you will!
Did you see Lana del Rey there - a student at Fordham?
It’s hard to overstate how great the Kinks were. Really unbelievably good. A poetic master in Ray Davies and his brother Dave was a hugely influential guitar player. people forget about them but they shouldn’t. Kink Kontroversy, Face to Face are some of the best records ever made.
The concert not to have missed! If missed must watch 200x to maker up!
1 down 199 to go 😊
What a phenomenal performance.
Ray was on fire right from the start and the energy level throughout this whole performance was second to none, great frontman, great writer, great stage presence and personality absolutely a wonderful concert.
Dave played fantastically throughout and seems to play with ease, what top, top guitarist he is. So wonderful to see them both performing together and giving such a powerful performance. Great band performance.
I saw Ray in concert a few years ago and he has lost nothing. His voice is as good as ever, his personality on stage shines through even bantering with the audience. His writing has never diminished and he is still writing great songs. The last Kinks album from the 90's was a fantastic album, every single track. I would highly recommend anyone who hasn't heard to listen to that fantastic album showing Ray and Dave still at the top of their game.
Thanks for the upload of this wonderful concert
The album I forgot to mention was Phobia.
If the radio would have played any of it would have been a huge success
One of the greatest bands ever in concert. Glad to have seen them multiple times. What a library from 60’s to 80’s. Unmatched.
Ditto agree!!
I only got to see Dave, Ray, and the boys on the Destroyer tour. That was at Cobo hall in Detroit. Great band, great show! ❤
I saw the Kinks a number of times in the 1980s. They were just awesome! So much fun. Such energy and they didn't take themselves too seriously. This recording brought back good memories.
Saw them many times from the 70's thru the 90's. Good times, great memories.
I saw them on the low budget Tour in Düsseldorf .I stood beside the catwalk ,Ray Davies ,with his Gibson, looked in my eyes! From now on i wanted to become a rock musician.I did it ?Thank you!
This reminds me of those bootleg VHS tapes that were 2nd generation copies at best that were sold at Record Shows back in the day. Those were gold to collectors at the time. Glad we have evolved and I am here for it.
World’s most underrated band
One of my favorite bands of all time. I was hooked when I first heard the unforgettable riffs of You Really Got Me. Sadly, I never saw them live. Have a bunch of their albums, though.
In this concert they are in a state of grace
SO TRUE!
I’ve seen the kinks at least 20 times - this concert is one of their BEST!
That was bloody BRILLIANT BEAUTIFUL and BEYOND........
Saw the kinks live in Nottingham back in 1983, my very first live concert 🎸🇬🇧
One one tbe best concerts ever !!!! By one of the most influential bands and top five in the whole world nobody like the kinks magic night God save the kinks
Greatest live band I've ever seen, thanks..👍
81 or 82 saw them at the Dick Clark theater front row seats.. It's gone now but that was the best venue to see A show... Ray Davis shook all our hands.. These are the kind of bands and music you won't see anymore..
Fantastic sound and video quality. Thx for the upload!

In England in 1964 the two biggest bands were the KINKS and the BEATLES
ONE FOR THE ROAD is the most underrated live albums of the early 80s.
saw these guys at the capital theatre in n.j. the schoolboys in disgrace tour totally awesome the opening act was steve harley and cockney rebel rip mr soft
The great rockpalast Konzert...wonderfull
My second concert was the Kinks in 1982 with a little known band, INXS, opening. It was absolutely amazing.
Wow!!!
Geilste Rockpalast- Nacht!
I saw them in the Late 70s early 80s. Just a Phenomenal Band to go see. They could really go. ( Mescaline was plentiful then )
😂😂. I could watch Dave Davies Jam all day. He was as good as anyone. Clapton , Beck ,Page , all of them. It’s odd that you never hear Dave Davies name mentioned. It’s the same when the British Invasion is talked about. All you hear is The Beatles and the Stones and The Animals. Never the Kinks. Sadly. 🤔
I'm from Australia & I only ever managed to get Mesculine once in 1974. A double 0 cap full of crystalline powder was 500mgs of mescaline hydrocloride & it was so amazingly powerful. Full ego death with aemnesia for a bit there. You can't get that here that I know of although I live in the capital of goldtop heaven on the North coast cow fields I'd love to get that again.
We don't often or almost ever get bands like the Kinks here either. To far away. Love to go to a Native American Church meet 1
thats the first band i think of , uh ...cuz ...weren;t they the first band we heard of ???
you know when it comes to the british invasion i think they started out around 62 or 63
Daves live tone is cutting right through the mix...gotta love it. Les Paul Custom...nice.
Les Paul, best sounding guitar ever!!!
I saw them live in the late 70's in Dortmund. This Rockpalast concert never was issued on dvd. Very happy to see it 42 years later. Hopes for a revival seem to be needless, too late.
I saw them in 1982 and they were rip-roaring badass! All hail the Davies brothers!!!
Nice find. Thanks!
I'm over loading , over watching . I loved them, the kinks in the 60s but never had money to purchase their records , i was content waiting on the radio for them to be played

Dave Davies is the first Rock guitarist in my world 🌎🌍
Dave really kickin' it on the guitar!
Awesome.
LOLA FOREVER
The British REPLACEMENTS, I love both bands and think Ray and Dave were the template for Paul and Tommy, imho.
AWESOME
Musicians with charisma.
This arena sized crowd in West Germany in 1982. Mostly a non speaking German audience, but the Kinks easily broke through that barrier.
I love mute Germans. The non- speaking ones are the best.
Ray is the best writer, arranger and performer in the business. excellent bandmates along the way of course, so British.
There's no such thing as the best ever.get a grip
@nathan. Ray Davies is the GOAT. Get a grip
@@MickBokulich-gg1ro there's no such thing as the goat .
Greatest group in music history, period.
Pioneers of strong rock vide those 2 famous tunes of early 1960s
Ray Davies is the best songwriter in rock and roll. The big 4 in the 60s is the Beatles, The Kinks , The Who and The Rolling Stones.
Fact. 😁
Ray Davies, always the fashionista!
Too bad The Kinks got banned in the US both from touring and album sales between 1964-1968 their most creative period. Who knows what this band would have done if this ban of the largest marketplace never took place!
Dave was playing so great at this time because EVH was nipping at his heels. At the time, we were amazed by Van Halen but still had a great amount of respect for the KInks, as we should.
Yep, Van Halen covering Kinks songs showed the world who the Kings were.
31:49 Lola
GREAT❤
Gem
It was a trip to hear the "Jumpin Jack Flash" riff from the Rolling Stones in "Captain America Calling". I wonder if they're aware of that or not. 😂 🎉 Then the "Sweet Jane" chords of Lou Reed in "Yo - Yo" (!)
1:03:20 His Tone. :*)
Außerdem 1:05:28
They don't say "God save the Kinks" for nothing.
Quality pretty good!
The birth of Punk Rock.
Yes!!

the first Rock band
think about it ?
Why was Slade never invited for rockpalast stays a mystery for me
Very cool, but no Set me Free ?? 😮
Nur ein Wort reicht:
LOLA
Minute 52:18 Dave is high as hell. Probably is acid. He is in another place fighting with dragons. As a musician myself I cannot understand how the hell they managed to perform so brilliantly. Dave shows amazing guitar skills, guitar tones and vocals. He is in the zone through out the whole concert. Awesome solos deliverd with great taste and execution. Bravo.
:D Up! T&M

SI SI BRAVINI MA È POCA ROBA
How pathetic... the band that started the MOD style of cool rock music, here pretends to be HEAVY ROCK band (Deep Purple or Slide or whatever), while being celebraated by New Wave bands as their main inspiration...
The Kinks influenced Heavy Metal, Punk Rock and New Wave.
Variety is the spice of life.
Ob alles funktioniert sollte man vorher testen.
God save the Kinks!
i thank you
